  • The hockey world lost it's mind when Mike Legg did "The Michigan" for the very first time. It's now 2017 and there's a better way to do it, and in this tutorial I teach you how.
    Here's the video of Granlund doing it: • Mikael Granlund Lacros...

    Here's a late comment from a player that spent a couple of days a week off ice over a summer break (~3 months) to practice the basics of this technique; it's definitely something that requires soft hands and a lot of hours to event remotely become consistent at. Also, beware that there's a big difference in blade thickness for the different brands and models of sticks, which obviously makes quite a big difference (for instance, CCM sticks tend to be thicker and BAUER thinner). Ice build up on the blade can make it virtually impossible to keep the puck on the blade, so make sure to practice with fresh tape and wax.

    This is fun to do with a ball and harder imo playing roller hockey at tennis court games and stuff like that, but to do it with a ball is like a combination of both, its not flat so its not gunna sit as pretty on ur blade, you kind of toedrag it back onto the blade but never really let the blade stop touching the ball, like it does a puck. Ive learned it on both and its fun, its a bit easier with a puck because its heavy and once its on ur blade u can swing the momentum all around and keep it there, with a ball you have that extra weight, but its not nearly as much, its lighter and comes off ur blade alot easier. But its still learnable.

  • @cadillacctsv6122
    @cadillacctsv6122 6 років тому +3

    I can do this move now thanks to you, but I feel like it should be explained that when the blade hits the puck, the opposite edge of the puck pops up, and then when that edge opposite to the blade goes back down again, the edge of the puck originally hit with the blade pops up as a result, and that little gap allows you to slide that blade underneath the puck. This can be seen exaggerated on the toe move (The second way that you showed how to pick up the puck). What I'm saying is, the blade doesn't just slide underneath, it makes the puck jump around and THEN you can slide the blade underneath. This is important to understand when learning how to do it. That is why after initial contact with the puck, you have to keep sliding the blade forwards.

    • @jasondashney
      @jasondashney 6 років тому +1

      I haven't tried this yet but what you're saying makes sense. I was thinking of trying to shoot it close up in super slo mo to see what happens because yeah, the radius of the edge of the puck isn't even close to being able to ramp up a stick on it's own. What you said makes sense and now I can go try it instead of just being confused.

    • @cadillacctsv6122
      @cadillacctsv6122 6 років тому +1

      Jason Dashney it's useful to know how it works, but the trick is still hard, so it's not like it's gonna work on your first try now that you know what's going on. Not dissing you, just warning you

    • @jasondashney
      @jasondashney 6 років тому +1

      Until I understand what's really going on at a base level my brain struggles with things because I don't really know what adjustments to make. Once I know what the actual goal is and know the physics of the end goal, then failure doesn't bother me (I was a sponsored skateboarder for a decade so I know all about trying actions hundreds or thousands of times and failing, haha).

    I know I’m late to the party…by six years. But I hadn’t played hockey for 17 years. I only just got back in starting 6 months ago because my son started and I’m coaching him. I forgot how much I loved it, and my skill is slowly coming back. When I played as a kid I was starting to do trick stuff like this. Little did I know it would blow up. I would have kept on going. Anyway. I just wanted to point out on that last trick puck pick up…you literally switched the way you were doing it- you started the trick the way forsberg did it…then you started doing it the “scoop” way, just picking it up on the toe instead. Tf bro? Lol. I mean. It’s a silly thing, but what happened? Could you not nail it enough? Did you forget? Get mixed up?

    This style is un-fair because the player is carying the puck. Similarly it is mistake also in basketball to carry the ball. The ice hockey is the fastest game because of unpredictable movement of puck. Puck is chasing within the rink, the mantinels and Windows above are having the puck in game. Pls Stop this stupid “puck carrying”. 🕊🕊🍀💥💥💥. Could be interesting how is described The ice hockey in the Rules. “Player are chasing in the rink………… and how about the Puck movement ?………………🌋🌋🌋. The players are carying the puck……… ????

    • @PavelBarber
      @PavelBarber  Рік тому

      That's a terrible comparison lol. Knocking the puck off the stick is literally the easiest thing you can do.... in basketball you can't hit the arm to dispossess them from the ball - travelling in hockey doesn't pose any unfair advantage and if anything, it's easier to defend. Just not when there arent defenders nearby.

    • @belomolnar2128
      @belomolnar2128 Рік тому

      @@belomolnar2128 Once again - you won't ever see players do that because it is the easiest thing to defend lol. Your argument is that it is unfair because it poses an "unfair advantage." I have no clue how you can think that. It's so easy to knock the puck off the blade - any contact to player, the blade or shaft and its off the stick.... it's not in a basket like lacrosse...

    • @belomolnar2128

      @@PavelBarber …There is “the dead puck” laying on the player ´s stick. There is no movement just laying on a stick. Thats COMEDY & Theatre.

    • @PavelBarber
      @PavelBarber  Рік тому

      @@belomolnar2128 Its an effective way to score a goal. You're just making up situations that will never happen in hopes to portray it like its some unfair technique... the point of hockey is to score goals, and this method can be the best odds depending how well practiced a player is and what the situation calls for.
