Thank you for making so many digitone videos, I think it’s clearly elektrons best machine and you’ve been very helpful at showing us how to get the most out of it
Cheers buddy, appreciate that! It will take some time but I'll put a studio video on the list for the future. And awesome that you can make use of it, always looking forward to your next jams G. 💚🙌🏻
Vielen Dank dir Adil! Cheers mein Freund! 🙏🏻
I see that Microcosm sleeping in the background. Fire that monster up and run your tracks through some of the algorithms on there. It adds a layer of magic that's hard to describe.
Hey mwood, Yeah it's an awesome pedal! I love to use it together with the Digitone+Digitakt combo and then only route the Digitone through it - this was I can have the magic on the Digitone and keep the Digitakt "clean" to don't loose groove and rythm completely when I go full wet. But you are right, it also sounds fantastic on percussive elements! 💚
Thanks a bunch Ed my friend! So happy to hear that from you and I'm looking forward to that as well - keep it up and have a great time in Melbourne! 🙌🏻
Definitely interested in seeing your studio! congrats! I probably may have said before, but I always appreciate how you clearly showcase your presentations. From the video quality, and the tone of your voice, and now with your new set up, I'm excited for you, I'm excited to be learning even more from you!
That's great to hear eM! It's already on the list. :) And thank you so much for the lovely feedback, really appreciate that. This was actually the first video which wasn't scripted but rather spoken "freely" as I didn't have too much time to prepare. Good to hear that it works well for people too. Have a great weekend! 🙂🙌🏻
@@MilesKvndra Do you have a vid tutorial on how to properly set up the side chaining of a baseline to the kick drum whether it would be all on board of the Digitakt, or, when coming into the digitakt say from the digitone? I’m trying to get it set up but it sounds like mud. There’s gotta be some streamline work for all method. I like to set my bass patterns on the DN primarily. I found that ARPing them can be convenient but when changing between patterns and not being on time, I’d have to wait after the four bars to finish so that the ARP can commence again on the first bar. So, I’ve since changed and live recorded over and set each note to be on grid (does the DN have a global hold trig to set all notes to be quantized?). Also… in previous tutorial videos, you showcased how you evolve each pattern into separate ‘energies’. Do you sometimes find where you’re in a pattern building beyond your layers of energy and realize you have to stop Yourself because you probably should have separated a portion of your build? Personally I find myself building on a single pattern for so long and realize I need to break it apart into another pattern just so that I have those dynamics set in a song. I hope that make sense, all that music and patterns in your head trying to piece it where before you forget what or where you were to begin with! Lol!
@@embazle hey, good questions! Tbh I struggle to get a really convincing sidechaining effect on the devices myself. I usually use an LFO in ramp mode on the amp volume for that but it doesn't always work and sometimes seems to be a little out of sync especially when trying to emulate the FOTF pumping sidechaining effect. So I usually try to arrange differently to overgo this problem. And regarding your question about the energies of patterns I usually do it like you say and have a pattern which is fully packed with tracks that have a lot of energy. Then I can from there easily go back in terms of energy by removing elements, closing filter, different ADSR settings etc. But the energetic pattern gives a great starting point to build additional patterns from. :)
Wow, thanks a bunch dude! Appreciate to hear that coming from you. 🙌🏻 And good to know, that makes the studio tour video move further up on the list. :)
Ah this has come at the perfect time for me, just picked up the Digitakt again after a bit of a break and really needed some inspiration in making my beats more interesting… thanks Miles! If there were a way to support you in making tutorials like these I’d be an instant signup. Nice one ❤️
Hey Smerin, thank you so much - means a ton to hear that my videos inspire others to make music! :) Yeah I'm thinking about setting up a Patreon sometime in the future but I'm not fully there yet. Cheers and keep on jamming! 🙌🏻💚
Hey dude, thanks a lot! I actually already have a tutorial on that, it was one of the first sounds I made on the DN - please find it here: ua-cam.com/video/jZJVAVhgHQg/v-deo.html
Hey Muggzy, thanks a bunch! I'm still a little bit unsure as I'm currently quite happy with the setup that I have (DT,DN,Microcosm) and have some other things on the gear list too but on the other hand I'd really like to see how the Syntakt integrates with the DT and DN. So not really decided yet when to check it out. 😁 How about you?
A personal tip is to add a bit of dead space before adding shaker/ perc samples then you can wiggle the sample start time whilst play recording or use an Lfo to modulate and wig it out. 2lfos even better ha ha
Hey David, that's actually a really nice idea, thanks for sharing! I can imagine you're getting some nice unexpected results from this - especially with 2 LFOs 😁
Thanks Fierce, appreciate the kind feedback! And yeah, I'm definitely tempted but I will see when I get it. The Digi combo is pretty awesome by itself. 🙂 Cheers and great day to you!
Hey Seth, that's fantastic to hear - thanks a lot for the feedback! :) About the Syntakt I'm still a little bit unsure as like you said I'm currently quite happy with the setup that I have (DT,DN,Microcosm) and have some other things on the gear list too (new camera and maybe a Moog) but on the other hand I'd really like to see how the Syntakt integrates with the DT and DN. So not really decided yet when to dive deeper into it. 😁 How about you?
@@MilesKvndra I've enjoyed a number of the demos I've seen of the Syntakt (especially substans synbiosis), and in capable hands such as yours I'm sure you'd make it sing. Personally I have a ton to learn and develop with my current Elektron + Microcosm setup so I'll be holding off for a while. I love the DN and FM is incredibly deep (barely scratched the surface), but I might have been better served with the Syntakt if it had been available. I'll also be doing a lot of traveling soon and Elektron boxes are a bit much for me to carry... so I've been eyeing the Dirtywave M8. I've never used a tracker though, so not sure it's right for me. What's your take on it? Too much cool gear, and GAS these days! 🤣
@@sethlesky8721 totally feel you haha. So much cool gear! Regarding trackers I don't have any experience with them yet as well so I'd hold off - although I have to say the M8 and Polyend look pretty dope!
Hey solongyouth, yeah you are write in case you are using the 1:2, 1:3, etc trigs because once the sequencer get's longer these trigs will play less often. I have found that this can be very cool too and bring up some nice results. But yeah if you want your trig to play at a certain sequencer round you should either extend the pattern length or use the trig conditions.
I am using the velocity control instead of the volume control to make trigs sound lighter. Is there any advantage or disadvantage in one way or the other?
Hey C. HURF, I think that's totally fine, you can do that too. I need to experiment more with the velocity control in the retrig function of the Digitakt, I barely use it.
Hi, two years from the future. Still very helpful. Thank you!
Awesome to hear 🙌🏻
Super glad I came across this nice pace & methods
Welcome and that is great to hear! Hope you found it useful and have a nice weekend! 🙌🏻🙂

Thanks, great video!
Hey, thanks a lot for the great feedback, appreciate that! 🙏🏻
Really nice demonstration of the principle of how small subtle nuances add up to make for a more interesting and engaging groove. 😎👌
Cheers John! That is exactly what it is about, adding many small pieces to a foundation to create groove. 🙌🏻
Wow!
