Bought a honda cb400n last sunday that i've started stripping down. It will eventually become a scrambler and it's my absolute first project - I also have zero experience with these things. Your videos help a lot and make it seem a lot easier and more approachable! Keep uploading, it's great to see how far the CX has come :)
Just agreed to purchase a basket case CX500, mainly because it has an original reg from my home county. I had considered bringing it back to stock, but the bike's shape especially the angle of the heads really lends itself to a custom look. I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into the project thanks to your video. I'll dig out your other CX500 vids and shamelessly rob your ideas. Thank you. 😀
I can't believe how many of the same parts we are using on both our builds. Your bike is turning out perfectly! Can't wait to see the full assembly and hear the bike running!
Thanks for all the videos. Recently acquired a CX of my own. 1982 EC Sports model. Quite a few differences but your videos are really helping me get to grips with what is my first build. You've done a fantastic job.
Digging the CX, but as the GS videos shot in your garden inspired me to take on my own GS, please, please, please finish her for us. Thanks for the vids
Keep up the good work. I'm watching your channel for quite a while now and really love what you do and how passionately you present it. I admit to watching your videos at work - great way to break away from insanity for 11 minutes! Big shout out to you mate from Massachusetts, USA!
I love electrical. I used to be an aviation electronics tech. Have you seen the new regulators that have a GPS tracker in them, have all the relays built in for all the lights, automatically starts the bike with a key fob, alerts you if someone touches the bike through your smartphone, and you can also start you bike with your smartphone, and has USB charging ports. It's like $320, but with the bike theft epidemic in your neck of the woods, it might worth it. They are super easy to install. You can also program flasher rates.
Great job man. Long ways to go on mine but my next step is also electrics. As I am going to find an engine later I will be doing my electrical routing first.
I just bought a '80 Honda CM200T that has a 6v battery. As I am upgrading some of the parts, control switches and lights, I am having a hard time finding what will work for my bike because all of the newer stuff is 12v. Can I use the new stuff? I am assuming the outputs, the lights specifically, will need to be 6v. What tips would you have for going about this without upgrading the entire electrical system? Thanks!
I'm sure I'm not the first to say this, but video quality is supreme onyour channel. Love the cx500 build, thinking of doing one myself. Videos could have a bit more substance to them and be a bit longer, but really... this is great stuff! Good on ya mate!
looking good! How did you clean up your bolts and other bits of hardware that tend to get rusty? doing a similar build, and havent got a good way to clean the rust off without stripping the protective layer on the bolts and bits.
i'd love to see you do a build using an M-unit. There are many videos online I know but you make good videos. on my clip ons there is a small gold dot looking thing in the area where you drilled, is that an indicator for a place where i'm supposed to drill a hole?
As always, thanks for your videos man! One question plz, i'm using the original controls on significally smaller new handlebars, so they are not tight enough... Any idea on how to solve this? Thank you!
Hey, about these holes you drill on the handlebar: wrap it first with several layers of electrical rubber tape, press the control against it so it "punches" the mark into the tape, and then it will prevent the drill bit from sliding away !
hey man how do i convert my bike from a 6v to 12v? like do i have to completely rewire the whole bike or simply replace rectifier and battery? thanks in advance.
Hey, love all your videos! I am using the same brake levers on my build. Have you found a wire connector that hooks up to the front brake light? I'm having a hard time locating one.
Have you ever, or know anyone that's ever used the Motogadget M-Unit? If so, what are your thoughts? It seems like a good way to simplify the wiring process. I might use it on my GL500 build. Keep these vids coming. They are such great motivation.
These videos are great and dreegez is a legend with all the information but there is also another dude with a channel called High Octane from texas and he built a Triumph bobber/racer thing with an M unit and goes through the details. Great videos as well.
Why did you choose to stick with the old CDI and not go with a RaeSan or Ignitech? Also, for a lithium battery, there is a newer regulator that will be much better than the original. You can run one with the original, but they tend to go poof faster.
I can attest to the poof... it went...then my battery went poof in big white cloud. No racing required. Also you might wanna check the coils, I think they ground to the frame.
Yo may need a MOSFET reg/rec or you'll cook battery, and speef up Li ion battery to about 14ah and 200cca to deal with large flywheel and high compression of CX. Coming along nicely.
Ever thought of going down the Patreon route to finance some of those tools you always wanted? You know, nothing flash to move away from the reach of your average garage enthusiast; pillar drill, sheet metal folder, belt sander, bandsaw? Great videos, thanks.
Thanks, I did think of it but then I thought as UA-cam is a free service I didn't want to start asking for money where I guess a lot of my viewers have builds of their own to fund. I do however sell merchandise to raise a little money as all profits from those sales go back into the channel.
you do look kind of tired man! did you make the electric parts today and still edit the video for us to Watch it !? that's a lot of work... how do you manage time? not surprised you looked so tired. but still a great video as always! keep up and thanks for your excellent and dedicated work! good luck man
I am like #666! ;) mark this beast! I wonder why you put the key ignition there? I like it by the bars personally for both a classic look and for locking my forks.

Honda CX500 is my dream bike to do a build on. Thank you for documenting your build, you do a great job man
Thank for watching. Without you guys I wouldn't be documenting it.
Thanks for all the videos. Recently acquired a CX of my own. 1982 EC Sports model. Quite a few differences but your videos are really helping me get to grips with what is my first build. You've done a fantastic job.
Thanks, all the best with yours.
I LOVE this build! That contrast of color came out SO great!
Thanks, it's my favourite.
Digging the CX, but as the GS videos shot in your garden inspired me to take on my own GS, please, please, please finish her for us. Thanks for the vids
David Armstrong GS will be worked on this week ;)
just purchased a yamaha 550 seca, thank you for your videos i am going to make a cafe and your videos are my inspiration
Amazing, all the best with it, glad these have been an influence.
Keep up the good work. I'm watching your channel for quite a while now and really love what you do and how passionately you present it. I admit to watching your videos at work - great way to break away from insanity for 11 minutes! Big shout out to you mate from Massachusetts, USA!
Amazing, nothing wrong with a bit of a break during work time, thanks for the message.
Getting a lot more videos ! I like to watch the progress and see you work . Always good to see someone work hard on something they love
These are easy bits, GS videos probably on Friday.
Very nice to go along as you do the work. It is really an enjoyable process to see... hello from Texas
Hi Texas, thanks for joining the journey
I love electrical. I used to be an aviation electronics tech. Can you provide more information ie who makes them or web site
Are you thinking of the M-Unit?
Yeah.. The M unit.
sloopjbnz
UA-cam the m unit.
Carlos Google Maps
The new upgraded model does.
Nice, seems like you are almost done with the cx! The ting will go skraa!
Getting there.
Great job man. Long ways to go on mine but my next step is also electrics. As I am going to find an engine later I will be doing my electrical routing first.
What controls and grips did you use. Been looking awhile and have not found any
Great video! Glad to see the harness going onto the bike!
Kenny Bowen it's good enough so I like to reuse
For The Bold - dreegez if it ain't broke don't fix it!
Hey man, just wondering where you got the controls from? They look very nice!
John Weyeneth I'll sort the link out in the description later for you
For The Bold - dreegez thanks a lot!
I have a question I’m building a CB750. For the throttle grip, did you have to buy a cover for it to go over the throttle cable to cover it?
I replace all levers, throttles & cables all for new mechanisms,

where didt you buy thos handelbar controls? can u please drop a link ? :) thanks for great videos
Will do, I'll link them above.
I'm sure I'm not the first to say this, but video quality is supreme onyour channel. Love the cx500 build, thinking of doing one myself. Videos could have a bit more substance to them and be a bit longer, but really... this is great stuff! Good on ya mate!
Thanks for watching them, hard to say how long people will hold interest for but thanks for the idea.
looking good! How did you clean up your bolts and other bits of hardware that tend to get rusty? doing a similar build, and havent got a good way to clean the rust off without stripping the protective layer on the bolts and bits.
The bolts are new so haven't cleaned those, but you can use electro plating etc if that's an option/
For The Bold - dreegez thanks! Definitely will look into that
Another goodie mate! Helpful tips on the wiring which to me is definitely going to be my hurdle!
Thanks, baby steps, keep track of where you are.
i'd love to see you do a build using an M-unit. There are many videos online I know but you make good videos.
on my clip ons there is a small gold dot looking thing in the area where you drilled, is that an indicator for a place where i'm supposed to drill a hole?
Have a look at my CX500 tracker build. There’s an m unit on that one.
As always, thanks for your videos man! One question plz, i'm using the original controls on significally smaller new handlebars, so they are not tight enough... Any idea on how to solve this? Thank you!
Thanks. If it was me, I'd buy controls to fit. Probably easier long term.
Outstanding video as always. If you have a chance ... Do you recommend putting any copper anti-seize goo on those snazzy new engine bolts?
How did you wire up your tachometer
There's a video on that i the playlist, but it's such a horrible dial that it's now in the bin
Hey, about these holes you drill on the handlebar: wrap it first with several layers of electrical rubber tape, press the control against it so it "punches" the mark into the tape, and then it will prevent the drill bit from sliding away !
Nice tips, I do hammer a little notch in them but that's a nice tip.
You do great work, thank you for being an inspiration
Thank you, glad these videos inspire you.
hey man how do i convert my bike from a 6v to 12v? like do i have to completely rewire the whole bike or simply replace rectifier and battery? thanks in advance.
A lot of parts need changing. I’d first question why and if you’d benefit from the cost.
7:00 whats that rusty thing
That's the CDI
what fuse block did you use and would it work for a cb900c?
I just use the original fuse block. Easiest way, just relocate it, unless you go M-Unit.
Hey, love all your videos! I am using the same brake levers on my build. Have you found a wire connector that hooks up to the front brake light? I'm having a hard time locating one.
Just 2 spade connectors fit.
Great, thanks man. I'll look around for a rubber boot cover to go over them.
What aftermarket controls did you use?
The link is in the description above.
Nice video! Should not be an issue with two phase. More important is max and min DC output voltage. Good luck!👍🏻
Nice tip,
Great video (like all the rest of your videos!). Can you put a link to the switch units and the handlebars? Thanks!!
I can't seem to find them anymore
@@forthebold ok - not a problem. I think I’ve sourced them using some stills from your video. Many thanks.
which throttle thingy did you use?
I'll put a link up in the description.
Thanks

Great Egret I would love a motogadget m-unit
These videos are great and dreegez is a legend with all the information but there is also another dude with a channel called High Octane from texas and he built a Triumph bobber/racer thing with an M unit and goes through the details. Great videos as well.
Jonathan Padoa thanks! I'll check him out for sure.
Transfixion Radio Show great how to on the M-Unit. Thanks for sharing the channel.

Adam McNutt I wanted to keep the costs to a minimum and having tested these they're ok still. If I was racing it would be a different story
I can attest to the poof... it went...then my battery went poof in big white cloud. No racing required. Also you might wanna check the coils, I think they ground to the frame.
So hoodan. Look forward to it riding down road ... Keep it up from Iowa USA
Thanks, not far now, just in time for our warm weather
i'm painting my tank and have same excuse, can't wait. super excited. motorcycle season is fast approaching. keep up the good work and honest videos.
Coming together nicely sir 🖒
Thank you, sure is.
Yo may need a MOSFET reg/rec or you'll cook battery, and speef up Li ion battery to about 14ah and 200cca to deal with large flywheel and high compression of CX. Coming along nicely.
I'll check them out.
love the cx!
Thanks, It's my favourite.
Are those eBay levers you got on the bike? Got some for mine last summer. They are great, especially considering the low price!
These are from Amazon but yeah, they're good.
Looking great.... Hope my wiring goes as quick as that video, lol. Keep up the awesome work 👍
Thank you, now the real work starts.
Hiii
What's about shl m20 is it can be a good Cafe racer
I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to say.
For The Bold - dreegez okk thanks
Almost there! Keep it up!
Nearly.
Hey mate keep up the good work cx looking great
Thank you.

Jakob Bredal and thank you

Best get myself some merchandise then!
Looking good mate! :)
Thank you.
Link for the controllers?
They'll be up in the description.
For The Bold - dreegez Let me know when you’ve posted the link :)
Awesome new video just when i logged in
Lantourismo great. Thanks for watching
Hi brought a yamaha xz550 to start my first cafe racer project.
Excellent, best of luck on it
why not a fresh new wiring harness?? the motorcycle looks so damn good.
Probably expensive and not that easy to find. At least not a brand new one.
The wires would take pretty much the same path, I will however strip the old tape and put some heat shrink wrapping on it. Freshen it up.
For The Bold - dreegez yeah. new heat shrink will make a lot of difference. 👍
you do look kind of tired man! did you make the electric parts today and still edit the video for us to Watch it !? that's a lot of work... how do you manage time? not surprised you looked so tired. but still a great video as always! keep up and thanks for your excellent and dedicated work! good luck man
Frederic Homerin I was about to post the same comment until I saw yours.
Dude, don't push it so far you get I'll.
Ha, yes, it was a long day of work, bike then editing . All fun.
Nothing beats a comment like saying you look bad, ha ;) I've had plenty of rest since.
Nice work, keep on going! :)
Thank you.
Hey, brother nice video
Thanks.
Nice work :)
Thank you.
Nice!
Thanks
I am like #666! ;) mark this beast! I wonder why you put the key ignition there? I like it by the bars personally for both a classic look and for locking my forks.
It was a convenient place to put them out of the way.
Cooles Video😘
lulalurch MC thanks
I'm an electrician, however i still prefer others to work on the electrics of my bike because i'd rather not be the one to screw it up lol
Majestik Møøse it's the achievement at the end I love
Hello my friend!
Hello there.
Make more video's 😁

Cheers.

spymaine89 I don't use twitter

Lutfi Hidayat are you?
For The Bold - dreegez

Lutfi Hidayat unfortunately these smaller details make the bike run. Without them we wouldn't be riding anywhere

yup, i understand
Hello. Can you stop wailing your arms when your talking, im getting dizzy.
Hello. Nope
