    I am a single person, in their mid 40's and struggle with eating each day. And I work in agriculture and grow my own food and support local farmers! Sometimes it is hard to feel motivated to cook for myself. Thank you for being real, and including meals for one in your playlist.

    I’m only 2 minutes in, but I just have to say this. There have been quite a few freezer meals that my husband has said something similar to “this is so much better than takeout” or my favorite “I bet we would’ve paid $15 each to have this at a restaurant” THANK YOU for this amazing resource. I love watching the marathons because it feels like I’m just hanging out in the kitchen with you. Currently building a meal plan in the club for my February marathon 🥳

      Thanks for sharing that because I agree 100% ! It helps others to know that their recipes and food really are at least restaurant quality but are actually better than most food that you get at restaurants in my opinion too so that hopefully encourages others to cook up some of their recipes to try . I’m sure that they will agree with us about it and hopefully they will encourage others about it too!

    I'm not really a wine drinker either. I found what works for me is to buy the little 4 pack of wine bottles (8 oz per bottle). I recently did one of the gnocchi recipes that uses 1/4 cup of wine. I made 4 of these and so that one little bottle was perfect for the 4 recipes! And I still have a couple bottles in my pantry for future meals.

    Thank you for making a few more recipes that don't have wheat or milk/cheese in them, sometimes it feels like I get sick of the same old thing but with dietary restrictions to work around sometimes the food just feels like same darned thing all over again. For anything we have that is topped with cheese, I get those kids to scoop theirs before I add the cheese.

      The dairy free cheese has come a long way in recent years! It freezes well 😊 Brands I like are Daiya, violife, chao and even our generic store versions are way better than in years past. Also the Philadelphia plant based dairy free cream cheese is great. Coconut milk freezes great! They have condensed coconut milk that works like condensed milk. Make your own ranch seasoning mix. With all that being said, I do also enjoy the dairy free freezer meals!

    I just love your ideas and I wanted to share my big discovery of 2023! Yes, even an old seasoned dog can learn new tricks!😂
    I found a random recipe in some short or other that used dollops of cottage cheese and a handful of low-fat grated cheese to finish a gnocchi/tortellini/chicken bits/cubed tomato/oregano/spinach pan. It’s perfect and fast and you don‘t need to heat the oven on a hectic night. Just simmer your dish in a wide pan on the stove, kill heat, spread cheeses and cover while calling in the family. Even time to toss a salad or find some olives or capers for the grown-ups in the fridge!
    As my husband claims to „not digest dairy well and only like matured (expensive) grated cheeses“ I was very surprised to watch him fish for MY cottage cheese dollops! 😮😂

    Love these videos so much! I have a suggestion for you - for so many meals, you can save your wrists by grinding a bunch of peppercorns in a blender. Then you could have a small bowl of pre-ground pepper, and another of salt, and just add pinches/ small spoons in each bag instead of using the mills each time.

      It does depend greatly on what we make of course (those salmon meals are always expensive!), but if we don't count those, we've worked it out to being between $9-$13 a meal. They serve 4-8 per meal so it averages out to about $2 per meal per person. Now of course, when we make our super budget meals and plan our meals on sales, we are able to get that down to $4-$7 per meal so less than $1 per person per meal, but in our mega sessions, we are more focused on taste and saving $ on takeout and convenience food and less on making them the least expensive possible. Hope that helps!

      Oh yeah, it's a meat sauce. The first time Sharla and I made freezer meals together she asked if I (Christie) wanted to make spaghetti sauce. I said no because I didn't see the big deal. Why wouldn't you just open a jar of whatever you had in the pantry? I pictured us opening a jar of sauce and putting it in a bag. She asked me the next two times as well so I finally said ok and then I got it! It's so much more than that! Lol. It's Red Sauce with onions, peppers, seasoning and ground beef! It's soooo much better than opening a jar! 🤣🤣 I would serve it to company, it's so good. In fact I have.

    Fresh garlic is so yummy and I noticed that you use the store bought garlic in the jar and I was wondering if you ever use fresh garlic that you mince up yourselves?
    I love using fresh garlic but I don’t like having to mince up a couple of cloves every time I’m cooking up a some food . What I do now is I buy the big bags of peeled fresh garlic cloves in stores like Sam’s Club ,Costco , and such . I have a big glass jar that has a tight fitting lid that is just the size to hold all the garlic cloves once I’ve minced them along with some added canola oil to them just like the store version has .
    The first thing I do is take my glass jar and sterilize it and the lid and then I dry it completely with paper towels. Next I take the garlic cloves and put them into the container of a food processor and whiz them up to the minced garlic consistency I like . Then I add some canola oil (or any neutral oil you like) to the freshly minced garlic . Then I put the freshly minced garlic mixture into the sterilized glass jar and put the lid on tightly and store it in the refrigerator.
    Doing it this way I feel like I have the real flavor of real fresh garlic ,just like if I had just minced a couple of fresh garlic cloves right before any food I was about to prepare. I know it’s a little work to do it this way but I think I personally would have prefer the flavor of fresh garlic mixture that I do myself over the store bought jarred garlic mixture. Just my preference but I was wondering if y’all have ever tried doing it that way ?
    I love your channel and all that y’all do on it . The friendship that y’all have reminds me of my bestie from high school that I’m still friends with but long distance friends with now as we live in different states .

      We could but with the amount of prep we do already, we just keep it simple with the minced garlic in a jar. It's still quite flavourful. We both keep fresh garlic at home for when we need it. When you make your meals, you can totally crush your own garlic if that's important to you. I love that we remind you of you and your friend! ♥️

    I've done this as my weekly meal prep as I have too many boxes of meals taking up space in my freezer.
    How do you reheat the food, and do you wash the bags and reuse? What's the best way?

    • @FreezerMeals101
      @FreezerMeals101  2 місяці тому +1

      Most of the meals are made raw, so they will be fully cooked on the day of, as if they were made fresh. Some of the ones that are just reheats - it depends. It can go in the oven if it's a casserole, or in a skillet if it's suitable. Sometimes you can even just throw something in the microwave. We don't typically wash and reuse our bags. As most of them have had raw meat in them, we don't trust that we could get into the nooks and crannies of the bag to be safe enough to use again unfortunately. Also, they tend to get banged up a bit after two or three months in the freezer, so we just can't. We have looked into silicon bags but haven't found the right ones for us yet. Hopefully some day!

    Quick question regarding the snapper meal …. Are you working with and keeping the fish frozen?

    • @FreezerMeals101
      @FreezerMeals101  5 місяців тому

      Yes, we kept the fish frozen and got these quickly back in the freezer.

    I love you two. Have you ever used a memory card in either of your phones and save them to the SD card? I have started to do this in the past year because my last 2 phones have eaten footage.

      My phone doesn't accommodate an SD card. I don't think Sharla's does either. Up until now backing up to Google photos has been flawless. 🤷‍♀️ It was just one of those weird things. Disappointing but we salvaged it.

      Sharla here: it's my favourite so far of the new recipes! We actually already made it again yesterday (we were making freezer meals for one and filming it and I chose that recipe just so I would have individual portions for my lunches!)

    When I crockpot raw onions and garlic it gives my food a metallic taste and I can't eat it. What do you guys do to help with that? I notice you use purple onions a lot and then also your garlic from a jar. By using those does that prevent the metallic taste? Thanks in advance. I still love your meal ideas and freezer cooking but I have to cook my food in a pot and can't ever slow cook it because of the flavor onions and garlic leave.

    • @FreezerMeals101
      @FreezerMeals101  5 місяців тому

      That's so interesting. I've never noticed that. I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you. We don't do anything special but I don't get a metallic taste. I'm sorry that happens to you! For what it's worth, I don't super love my crock pot anyway so if I can cook it on the stove or in the oven I will. 🤷‍♀️

    The videos for club members only, are they on the website? Or how do we access them?

    • @FreezerMeals101
      @FreezerMeals101  5 місяців тому +2

      All our videos are on UA-cam except for a small amount of Club exclusive videos that are in the Video Library, accessed from the Club Homepage. We use them to explain how to use the features of the Club and some tips on how to prep food (which are also on UA-cam in various videos). The only videos that are Club Exclusive are the UA-cam live videos and the "review" videos, where we sit and chat about what we think of the new recipes. They are also accessed from the Club Homepage if you're a member. I hope that answers your questions!

    I would use a food processor for all those onions you chop.

    • @FreezerMeals101
      @FreezerMeals101  5 місяців тому +2

      We have used one in the past but I didn't like it because it felt like it was an inconsistent chop. I was like one pulse away from minced to mush, or I would have an ok chop but there would still be large chunks in it. 🤷‍♀️ Using our manual chopper takes a bit longer but it's much more consistent. The longest part is peeling the onions and I would have to do that anyway for the food processor so I'm fine with it.

      In the Freezer Meals 101 Club, all of our recipes have a nutritional breakdown (it's done through the website so it's an estimate) and in our main website at freezermeals101.com we have a calorie total and total servings where you can do a quick breakdown there. I hope that helps!

    So, Im watching this for like the 3rd time and my 15 yr old walks through and says why does Sharla's daughter get paid, I dont get paid..lol..I backed the video up to where you said YOUR DAUGHTER is fast .My 15 yr old is a higher functioning autist so ya'll know, it is a hit or miss and it NEVER goes fast, NOR does it ever get completed. She is a GREAT starter but about 1/3 of the way through-she is done and I have to stop to finish it or I won't get my steps done. But, you two really inspire her when she actually gets going. She doesnt like prep but she sure does like to cook it up

    Will the new recipes be added to the club?

    • @FreezerMeals101
      @FreezerMeals101  5 місяців тому +1

      With the new recipes, we try them, then either put them in the "no" category or we tweak them to perfect them and then once they're just the way we want, we send that tweaked recipe to our photographer and she makes them, takes photos (photography is not our strong suit!) and then they are added to the Club. It's a bit of a process, but that's why you can trust that the recipes in there are tested and work.

    • @FreezerMeals101
      @FreezerMeals101  5 місяців тому +1

      I will add that so far, a lot of these recipes have been winners and we've made minor tweaks and sent some of them to our photographer already!!! I can also say that the Tuscan Gnocchi Sheet Pan will never make it to the Club! No amount of tweaking can fix that one!

    I am guessing that your ground beef is pre cooked but I did not hear you mention that when you were cooking the sliders. I have watch about 50% of all your videos and know about precooking the ground beef but NEWBIES to your channel might not realize that.

    • @FreezerMeals101
      @FreezerMeals101  5 місяців тому

      That is correct. Almost all of your ground beef is pre cooked but if we didn't specifically mention that, it would be good for them to know. It will also say it on the recipe (the one for that meal isn't online yet though.) Great comment!
