I came across this video by chance. I had a trip to Japan planned for the following weeks. I went to Temma with my friends, and we had one of the most fun days ever. THANK YOU!
Good morning from Scotland. You would be surprised, but there are quite a few butcher shops here. You can buy animal innards. I love haggis, potted skink, tongue. So I would love to try these foods if one day I visit Japan. Keep up the great videos.
Morning Bruce, if you’re up for it, you should try dancing squid! Doesn’t have to be at an izakaya - a proper restaurant might offer an even cooler experience!
I just discovered your channel today and i'm loving your videos! They really show a side of Osaka that not many other channels do. I'm coming to Osaka from Australia (second visit) in a few weeks and you've given me so many new places I want to check out. Thanks!
I’m located in Osaka at the moment so my content is pretty Kansai-centric so far🙈 honestly although Tokyo is great, Japan has sooo much more to offer outside of it and Osaka is an absolute powerhouse! I’m glad my videos are reaching other people that love Osaka too 🫶
@@Sunny_in_Japan yes, I knew you were living in Osaka- that why I started following you. I used to live there too. I miss it so much (though tbh I just returned from there last month haha). 頑張ってね 👍🏻
Great video! This month is my one year anniversary living in this neighborhood! So many places to explore 🎉 I saw the くそおやじ place on Google maps, but havent been. Ill have to change that now 😂
Very well edited video. It doesn't look like the work of an amateur. I am a Japanese English learner and I appreciate the English subtitles very much. I have subscribed to your channel. Thank you. Ramen is good, but spice curry is very hot in Osaka right now. Ramen seems to be popular among western people, but especially in Osaka, I might recommend spice curry more than ramen as a local. Ramen has its roots in Chinese noodle cuisine, but spice curry may be thought of as Indian spice cuisine interpreted by the Japanese. There are so many Indian restaurants in Japan nowadays (I heard that they are actually run by Nepalese people), but the spice curry made by Japanese people is quite different from the curry served in Indian restaurants. One famous place is Botani Curry. The main restaurant is open only once a month or so, but there is another branch on the 9th floor of Hanshin Department Store in Umeda, which is open every day. However, the main store has a better reputation. There is also a curry shop called Ghar north of Utsubo Park that also has a good reputation. It's a bit of a long line, though. Spice curry is really the hottest food movement in Japan today. I look forward to seeing your video. Good luck.
My pleasure. I would be happy to help you. I also live in Osaka and often go out for a drink, but only in the Kyobashi area, and I had no idea that Tenma was so crazy cheap. The prices are so cheap that they make me a bit worried, but I think I should go there at least once. Thank you.
I love how adventurous you are with food and not wincing at some of the stuff even the locals might not touch. Would love to try these places, though like you, the sasami/chicken sashimi is on my bad list b/c I have gotten sick before eating it (in Osaka of all places).
Im pretty open to most things, but insects and moving seafood is definitely out of my comfort zone haha I’m sorry to hear about your food poisoning. Did it happen in an izakaya?
I don't know if she mentioned it, but in Osaka, there are two train stations, Shin (new)-Osaka and Osaka Station. Shin-Osaka, I believe, is where I would get the Shinkansen. But heck, it's a 10-minute local ride to Osaka Station. Also, I got the APA a few blocks from that station, so if a lot of motels/hotels are booked near Shin, try the older station. Nothing is really far in Japan. it seems like it, but compared to the States, it not.
Oh kamakura looks so cool, I’d love to visit some day! As someone who lived there, what kind of places would you recommend to visit? Attractions, restaurants, izakayas etc?
Hi Sunny. I lived in Osaka for a few years before moving to the US so I have been to Tenma multiple times. Foods there look so delicious and cheap. Eating out here in the US is insanely expensive. I miss good, cheap Izakaya dishes In Osaka. I am jealous. Wow, you could finish whole Tako Odorigui? Nice try and a good job 😊😊
Hi Yuki, how are the izakayas out near you in the mid west? I’m so envious of the bbq culture 🤤 love me some good chicken wings Temma is super cool! What other neighbourhoods did you find cool in Osaka?
Hey there. I don't know if I can call some of American style beer paces Izakaya. If so, yes, we have nice ones here, too. I love chicken wings as well. The other day, I had chicken wings with salt & vinegar seasoning at a place. That was fantastic!! I like American Izakayas as well. However, I would still like Japanese ones better because of just my personal problems or preference. I normally like to enjoy many kinds of foods at the same time. Especially I like fish or sashimi. But, we only have less variety of dishes here. Only meat and vegetables basically. Also, each dish here is so huge. Lots of foods on one plate. If I go with my friends, we can share, but just too much only for me. I don't like to waste food so I easily get full after finishing just one plate.....
@YukiGawinski that’s so true, Japanese portion sizes and variety of small dishes is such a plus! Australia also has huge portion sizes 😰 Salt and vinegar chicken wings sounds like a treat 🤤
Thanks for your message. I think people could easily gain weight after moving to the US, thanks to the huge portions of fatty foods. But, I am losing my weight. I am proud of myself 😆 I could get a pack of salt & vinegar powder at a Walmart. So, I made the grilled chicken wings with it at home. They were still good. I don't know how easy you can get it in Australia, though. I quickly checked on the web and found that you could get that seasoning at a 業務スーパー in Japan. Please try, if you are interested.
Haha I’m a highly sensitive person too I meant in Australia, after a night out we would either grab McDonalds or something called a Halal Snack Pack. That’s what we have instead of ramen haha
I feel like I’ve only seen the busy side of Kyoto, but I’d love to explore that side of Kyoto too. The northern side, with the coast, is up the top of my bucket list 😊
I love the dice roll concept for that one bar - you get a 3x priced drink, but it is larger to compensate. It's so cute! Tenma looks like a great area to visit!
Chicken breast... sashimi?? I guess it's ok, in some parts of Germany they eat raw pork, but both wouldn't be very popular in the US, if they were even legal to serve.
