I really like this video, as it explains very well how to compose “magic” sounds, but it doesn’t really explain how that ties with Danny Elfman. Many composers do what you discussed in this video but not many, if any, are able to capture the same feeling that Elfman has in his music. Danny also uses a lot of complex rhythmic and polyrhythmic variations along with sweeps, runs, swells, etc. Plus, Danny doesn’t just convey “magic” in his music, it’s typically very specific. His music can either sound quirky and whimsical or gothic and dark, usually all of the above. The way he plays around with reoccurring themes and how he connects them is also very crucial to his style. Ultimately, no one can truly imitate his style, as there will only be one Danny Elfman, but there’s a lot to be inspired by and learn from that this video I think could’ve been addressed.
Commercial for your channel brought me here. And it was only commercial videos i loved to see on my youtube. And i like how you explain making a music.
I think something you should of talked about was Danny's style has something unique and not common which is juxtaposing tritone chords on the treble and bass clef.
Hey Kevin, it's a UC33e midi controller. You can do it with any MIDI controller. Just assign the level of a specific patch you want to control (choirs in my case) to any fader This may help to understand the process: ua-cam.com/video/svYqroq6RYk/v-deo.html

I really liked this video, interesting ans well explained. My only issue is - what's with the really stupid EDM track running while you talk? That's horrible, not only is it distracting, but it also "ruins the mood". It's like ordering a 5 course meal at a 3 star restaurant and then eating a handful of candy-corn while waiting for the next course to be served. :D It's ok to just talk, you know? No need for "something happening in the background".
Why do i see all the time this things coralated like this..? Note: [Dark jokes warning, if you get offended by rthem don not show more this comment]. in the minute 3:20 he start to explain with his kid's toys that the melody has to land on the third but since he grabed 2 pices of 3 blocks hightand and an airplane i started to see thing i should haev not. I could say that the comment could be like: -3:20 is that a reference to 911?
Sorry, but what a misleading stuff... It has nothing to do with the real techniques of Danny Elfman's music, just some clichees associated with fantasy music. Just listen to his music and you'll see a lot of unique techniques, really interesting and personal to him, not the listed things that are used by pretty much any film composer...
Work with Marc & Chris Young (Spider-Man). Grow as a composer and get career opportunities. Small group. Apply to MOMENTUM here: bit.ly/mmmylc
Loved the video, thanks. Also at 3:10 a bad choice of objects for the example 😂
6:06 super LOTR vibes. :) love it.

Hola marc , trate de inscribirme en momentum pero cuando le doy para inscribirme q me redirecciona sale en blanco. Saludos

I don’t want to sound like Danny. The world has one Danny. I want to sound like me.
Besides all of Elfman's scores pretty much sound the same. I like him think he's talented, but lots of his stuff is all in the same key.
Honestly it's ok to learn how to sound like others

Your razer mouse is dying, you need to plug it in :). lol
Just use octatonic scale. :D ...and learn to compose.
3:20 wasn't expecting a music tutorial video diving into 9/11.
I'll see myself out...
