Hey Whimsy, new series of tips : - Use your Analyser as much as possible to get good staff only and greatly increase those "orange bars" 😉 to level up. Do not fulton E rank soldiers unless you have to like capturing mechs for exemple (motherbase capacity is not infinite and you will have to dismiss soldiers to make room for better staff). - I know you like to manually assign staff but auto assign will optimize your Team levels & global motherbase level. You should manually assign only if you want to reach requirements for a specific weapon/item (then you can re-assign staff to match their skills once developpement is complete) - There is unique staff to be found in the game and high rank prisoners in later missions can be farmed according to your team level needs (medical, r&d, etc) Finally, about Major Zero. It was not all Zero's fault. No spoilers ahead for Peace Walker or Phantom Pain don't worry : Zero seeked information control & BB wanted endless warfare. Pick your poison. Each wanted to unify the world in a way that suited them. By the time of MG & MG2:Solid Snake (1995-1999), Zero was already too old and only a shadow of himself. With Zero unable to make decisions anymore, the AIs he created to replace him learned more & more over the years and eventually took everything to extreme levels with the Selection for Societal Sanity Plan and then SOP with the War Economy.
@TheFoxCoops Big Boss needed conflicts and fueled them, he had the world in a chokehold in MG2. He even said so himself. I never said he was "bad" or "good". But our actions define us, and his were not peaceful. It rarely ends well when someone says "it was a means to an end"😏. He lost himself the day he killed The Boss, his downfall was inevitable. -----------spoilers beyond this point------------- Sadly Big Boss never knew Zero cared for him. Paz's vision of peace being a total lie and the events that followed plus the tragedy of ground zeroes eventually messed him up completely and was the final nail in the coffin.
56:55 Hey Whimsy, small tip from someone who’s finished this game on multiple platforms. On the tank battles try using smoke grenades. Throw them near the enemy and hold them up to the ground. When you are a low level player this will make the tank battles easier when you do non lethal attempts. 1:06:08 that’s why we need the instruction manual before using anything 😌
I like how the game was oriented for portable coop gameplay. Portable because making short missions that can be played on the go when you have time. And coop because all slow actions are no more, focusing in fast gameplay to not slow down your teammates. ie: not slow moving while on the floor or next to walls, or not slow dragging enemy soldiers. Also stuff like hopping on your teammate's shoulders to reach high grounds.
10:30 I really recomend you to play MG2 Solid snake, youll find plenty of background for big boss. Yes its 2d, but its very good and ahead of its time. And without spoilers, very familiar if you like mgs1
Metal gear and metal gear 2 solid snake are amazing games. The only thing that is bad is how cryptic and confusing they can be. And the maps can be like mazes. But there is a lot of fun to be had with those games, highly overlooked. Anyone who enjoys mgs games deserves to beat those 2 games atleast once. (Also don't ever bother with the NES versions, they have good music but that's about it)
Here's a small gameplay tip you might appreciate: At 1:13:40, the guard saw you before you could hold him up, so you threw him to the ground and then used the stun rod on him. But you could also throw him to the ground, quickly switch to your gun and aim at him on the ground (before he stands up), it will also hold him up just like you do when he's standing up.
Well done on capturing that tank. On the higher difficulties the number of guards increase. Also small hint, don't mind the weight stuff it really doesn't make a difference just take everything. Also please "pick all the wrong trucks" if you hadn't and record your reaction to them. If you already played that mission then maybe record the replay😅
9:37 regarding the horseshoe model (and very simplified): Left and Right have their origin in the times of the National Assembly just before the French Revolution - those who were on the side of the King went to the right side and those that opposed the proposal of the King stood to his left... in other words, everyone that opposes Monarchism is - historically speaking - leftwing. As we all should know, the ideals of Liberté, Égalité and Fraternité deposes the (then) rightwing monarchist system, goes itself into the extreme while being attacked from all surrounding Monarchs. During the 19th, after the Monarchists oppress the Republicans in Europe and the Industrial Revolution starts on the continent, the left splinters more and more into its different aspects: capitalist free market liberal democracy derives from 'Liberté'; Marxism/Communism focuses on 'Égalité'; while moderates go mainly towards 'Fraternité'. Thanks to advances in medicine and transportation, the idea of conquering 'lesser' people to 'civilize' them and to ultimately help them earns the favour of the winners of the Industrial Revolution: Imperialism (then right leaning). Parallelly, a new theory becomes popular... one that favours the creation of countries not with a focus on its ruler, but on promoting self-determination by the common culture, religion and language that the people share: Nationalism (then left leaning). Nationalism and Imperialism lead both to World War 1 which basically ends Monarchism while creating space for other ideologies. In the 1920s and 1930s a new ideology forms, one that combines Nationalism with a strong centralized state united by a leader, while opposing Monarchism: Fascism. (Contemporary they literally called it 'the third way'.) The combination of Fascism, Imperialism and Racism lead to World War 2 which basically turned those three ideologies into pariahs while strengthening Liberal Democracies and Authoritarian Bolshevism... but which one of those two would be left and which one right wing? After the dissolution of the Soviet Union everything basically became a free-for-all... although there aren't many large Monarchist, Fascist or Bolshevist parties left. Todays political climate is therefore much more complex (at least if you don't live in a one party dictatorship or a two party duopoly, because then it's really just a matter of left [progressive] vs. right [status quo]) Feel free to argue with me - I am always happy for new inputs.
Generally pretty good, though yeah there are a LOT of generalizations and simplifications in that as you say. Overall, I tend to summarize the two honest sides as this: which is calling for more centralization of power and which is calling for more decentralization of power? The former contemporarily being the "right-wing" and the latter being the "left-wing." There's nuances to discuss there but I tend to start the conversation there at least, and it's helpful for setting expectations. One of the biggest injustices is how Stalinists won out against the Trotskyites after the revolution if only because they both took the label of "communist" but it is now ONLY associated with Lenin and Stalin. Part of why many Westerners today have no point of reference for what the left actually stands for since the only one everybody knows was essentially a fascist state with a planned economy. When you're told THAT'S what the pinnacle of leftist thought is in reality, it can be easy to see why the whole "horseshoe theory" is popular. Also, it can be hard for people to actually learn these things in school because the powers-that-be have a vested interest in making sure we aren't told TOO much of the truth.
I think the political compass describes it pretty well. It adds a second coordinate axis. So now we have two independent axes: left right (it's about the economy and ownership of the means of production, collective or private) and authoritarian libertarian (it's about authority, polity, government). That's why there can be similarities between such different ideologies like communism and fascism (and explains the emergence of such nonsense like national socialism). That's why there are so many disputes within the same "left" or "right" ideology. In fact, I think we can add as many axes as there are critical subjects in society, and all of that will change over time.
Ah, what a delightful surprise! Another whimsical upload to savor with my morning coffee on my day off. I truly appreciate your approach, not rushing into the gameplay. The endgame involves a fair bit of grinding, so we will have plenty of time for gameplay but the final payoff makes it all worthwhile!
I totally get having to look up vehicle encounters on the internet. I did too! They are deceptively difficult and complicated. They take a good while, but the reward is worth the time, as far as I'm concerned. Congrats on getting the tank!
Happy New Year, Psyche Mantis! About a week ago, Santa stopped by my place looking for you. I'm not entirely sure what happened, but I think he might have had a bit too much to drink... Regardless, Santa is absolutely real, and he wanted me to pass on his gratitude for all your hard work. He suggested putting the $CADGMP to good use, perhaps towards a cardboard box.
Congratulations on getting your first Mech, Whimsy! You can now develop Curry, and I strongly, STRONGLY recommend that you go down that development line. Not spoiling anything, but they will become better than Rations later on, and if you want to tackle all of the extra end-game missions, they will be necessary. Also, as many people have said, using Smoke grenades will be extremely helpful during Mech capture battles. They essentially give you AoE Stealth camo while you're inside as long as you don't make any loud sounds.
10:00 A stratocracy (from Ancient Greek στρατός (stratós) 'army' and κράτος (krátos) 'dominion, power'), also called stratiocracy, is a form of government headed by military chiefs. The branches of government are administered by military forces, the government is legal under the laws of the jurisdiction at issue, and is usually carried out by military workers. I think Big Boss actions looks like this, the Spartans were something like that too.
Those men in the brig are the tank soldiers you captured. some soldiers come into motherbase and they aren't as keen to join at first so yes its normal.
So! The way mech battles work is this: if you damage the tank enough, the commander will pop their head out. How much is enough depends on the alert status of the tank. Not alerted? Just take out all reinforcements. Spotted? No problem! Just damage the tank and it'll still happen. It'll just take longer.
There is a 35 minute 2010 audio drama cd version of PWs 2,5 minute "How Miller met Snake" briefing file that was also included with en subtitles in the japanese version of Ground Zeroes under the name "First Encounter". It is available on UA-cam if you want to know the full backstory.
If you run out of fulton, you can kill them by throwing them under the tank. You can kill soldiers by using your environment, like explosive barrels, cliffs and they wont count. You can also spam the love box 💕, they dont care if it is still, they will only check the box if it is in their way, you have and small window there to do cqc and hold them up.
You can also get the tank if you're spotted, get rid of the soldiers, half ruin the thank/lav and the guy will come out. Smoke granades do help, you can use them with night vision in order to see though the smoke. Good luck MSF soldier
Loving your MGS series, the love and care you’re putting in playing the games honestly even I didn’t 😂 but now I love to hear all the codec calls and the briefing files, love from Brasil 🇧🇷 Hasta la victoria siempre
In order to get the tank you have to neutralize all the enemies which means you have to kill all the soldiers what time is after a while the foot soldiers will not come back and then you have to fight the tank one-on-one once the tank has been injured down to about maybe 30% health then he will pop his head out, what's hip hop's head out you have to kill him with a headshot so that way the tank is just sitting there and the mission will be over but if I remember right the tank is capturable if the driver himself is dead. So the short explanation is kill all the soldiers on the ground after the tank has been injured shoot the driver when he pops his head out and then the mission should be ended!
59:50 This is a typical MGS strategy, especially in PW or MGSV: Stage 1: Let's try stealth. 😇 Stage 2: Ah!!! It didn't work! 😧 Stage 3: It's RPG time, you turkeys! 😡 😆
You did very good with the tank battle. You didn't cheat, you simply needed the info that the soldiers are always limited in number. You can see the number or soldiers around the vehicle during the level in the pause menu, on the rightmost tab. If you get an alert (no shame in it), even if you eliminate all the soldiers, you will also need to damage the vehicles a bit to encourage the commander to come out. The vehicles are slowly and automatically repaired when idle, so don't feel bad if you need to damage them to have the commander come out.
I think most people look online for info about the vehicle battles in this game because the info you get in-game is never very clear. This is one of my favorite MGS games, but some aspects of it are confusing/opaque.
Definitely don't think you checking if they were infinite or not is cheating. And I think the people were hostile because you fultoned new staff and that made your food level drop below 100%. I would try and keep it higher than you currently are. Then if it dips with new staff, it won't go below 100%
Well, unfortunately it's pretty difficult to fulton every enemy soldier during those mech battles. There's usually more soldiers than fultons available. You can trick the tanks into running them over, which doesn't count as a kill in your stats. But otherwise it's usually advised to go lethal the first time around.
Just for your info, Snake can do most of the optional missions, if he can’t, it’s says NA next to his name. Oh and I don’t think the weight of your equipment makes any difference at all☺️
Lol if you manage to Fulton extract the tank squad without alert you would be big boss! But you dont have too. You could still put them to sleep and wait for the commander yo come out the tank and put him to sleep 55:33
Don`t worry, you can look things up if you`re stuck. This isn`t Batman, so no Riddler nagging you for consulting the endless wisdom that is the internet.
I think Snake wasn't a fan of Che because of his political views necessarily, but he was a fan of him as a leader, as man, as a warrior/soldier and as a being someone that wasn't afraid to wage war against the entire world with just his 12 men....as to his ideology, well, i don't wanna go too much into details about it (unless you want me to) but in MGS4 Eva did kinda talked about it, and i don't think it is going to be really explained in details as much in the games you have left, it is just something you have to get and piece together by yourself from the context and from what we know happens later, also, i think at least knowing what happen in the first 2 Metal Gear games form the 80s, might help you bridge the gap from this Big Boss in MGSPW to the one in MGS4.
@@chandlerburse i mean, maybe, but in the context of what i wrote, it doesn't really matter, we are talking about Big Boss, because she was talking about Big Boss and what his ideology is, because we kinda know it based on what happen later in the previous games. As for Kaz, what makes you think he was into Che's views? he is literally a businessman, definitely the opposite of a marxist like Che, Big Boss on the other hand, didn't really care about the business side of things and he cared more about his ideology.
Hi Whimsy, the first 2 games (before MGS1 in PlayStation) have a summary of their plot in the main menu from MGS1. If you're not going to play them (because being kinda old games), can you make a video reading the plot and commenting on it?
I think it would be best if she watches KefkaProductions 18 minute Metal Gear and 1 hour Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake movie versions after MGSV like she did with Portable Ops.
@@MassiFer I think it would be better for her to watch them BEFORE playing MGSV, because the games release order. Not gonna elaborate more because I don't wanna risk spoiling anything to Whimsy.
Hey Whimsy, nice nails! Its Christmas themed? Can you post the "off camera" grinding on the VoD channel? Comon, you cant simple trash away another hour or so of Peace Walker gameplay. (BTW, i loved the time stamp name for tank battle) Congrats for your 1st tank! Also, i dont know if someone already said it, but try to keep the mother base food at 200%, so all the other staff get a bonus on they stats. The soldiers going to jail are the ones you fultoned. Some of then need some time on prision until recruited (its more common on stronger soldiers) Yeap, its called horseshoe teory indeed, but its comonly used to make false corelations like saying that nazism and comunism are equals (whats its not). About Che, you surely cant idealise him, but no one can denny that the man realy was a great military leader. I think Kojima got some inspiration on him to make these Big boss era (also keeping it on central america), like, the beard, the cigars, etc. On big boss politics, what we know so far (from MGS1, 3 and Peace walker) its that he want to make a place where soldiers can live without a govern to use then as tools. So i think he is more a anarchist, so far.
I think it doesn't go deeper than Big Boss idealizing a revolutionary who raised his own guerilla fighters (thats the way its perceived here), much like what Big Boss did in PO and now PW. We only have to remember what Solid Snake said about legends in MGS2, so its not impossible to imagine that Big Boss fell in love with the legend of Che, despite the reality of him leading a terrible movement and his brutality against his own soldiers and civilians.
You don't need to stealth to get the mechs; you just have to eliminate/Fulton all the troops and damage the tank a little. Then the captain will pop out, and you can kill him or put him to sleep. To S rank, you just have to do it without killing anyone, captain included.
Whoever told her that you needed to stealth to get the mechs is outta pocket 😂you just have to eliminate all the troops and damage the tank a little the only time you would stealth would be to capture the tank at 100% health but to S rank you just have to do it without killing hope this helps anyone else playing 🫡
Typical Whimsy. "I don't know what that tank does or why I need it, but if I can get it, I will get it!"
Great episode! Have an amazing day, Whimsy!
Time to walk that peace
It ain't gonna walk itself
tranquil walk of peace?
Say that again
I cant wait for her to sing 'Heaven's Divide' since her MGS3 playthrough❤❤❤
It's at the doors... i can feel it 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hey Whimsy, new series of tips :
- Use your Analyser as much as possible to get good staff only and greatly increase those "orange bars" 😉 to level up. Oh my!! 😭😭 BigBoss thank you so much that's incredibly generous! Um I mean thank you Santa 👀
9:00 at the end of the day, both sides drink from the same water trough
It's a good thing none of the enemies react to the incredibly loud helicopter snatching their former comrades out of the air one by one.

Feels good to be back! Looking forward to a Metal Gear-filled 2025.
Heya Whimsy! (Bowing)
Love the title! I want that tank! lol
And, yes, you can have it.
Snake vs Tank 72u
Whimsy: Prrrr prrr brrr
Good job! I'm glad you are enjoying this game 👍
Soldiers Fultoned during tank battles are initially hostile. Higher ranked soldiers too.
I really hope they remake this for current generation consoles. Would love to help people on this game again

Definitely don't think you checking if they were infinite or not is cheating.
And I think the people were hostile because you fultoned new staff and that made your food level drop below 100%. I would try and keep it higher than you currently are. Then if it dips with new staff, it won't go below 100%
Idk how I did these missions without UA-cam’s help a long long time ago.. I know I didn’t do a non lethal run though.
Well, unfortunately it's pretty difficult to fulton every enemy soldier during those mech battles. There's usually more soldiers than fultons available. You can trick the tanks into running them over, which doesn't count as a kill in your stats. But otherwise it's usually advised to go lethal the first time around.
So cool the stages are hot!! I mean the got no cover not even for stealth by solo players but shoot it’s a msg game right! You make do lol great video
Flashbangs ,smoke grenades , and cqc
No wonder you have 3 degrees and speak 5 languages, you can't let go of a C in a videogame!!
LMAOOOO
Just for your info, Snake can do most of the optional missions, if he can’t, it’s says NA next to his name. Oh and I don’t think the weight of your equipment makes any difference at all☺️
Lol if you manage to Fulton extract the tank squad without alert you would be big boss! But you dont have too. You could still put them to sleep and wait for the commander yo come out the tank and put him to sleep 55:33
Don`t worry, you can look things up if you`re stuck. This isn`t Batman, so no Riddler nagging you for consulting the endless wisdom that is the internet.
Marksman challenges in my opinion I don’t really care to see them. But that’s just me
I came for the thumbnail 😶
Please, do every single mission on camera or, at least, record them. It will be needed at a certain point (for various good reasons). ;)
(BTW, i loved the time stamp name for tank battle)
Congrats for your 1st tank!
Also, i dont know if someone already said it, but try to keep the mother base food at 200%, so all the other staff get a bonus on they stats.
The soldiers going to jail are the ones you fultoned. Some of then need some time on prision until recruited (its more common on stronger soldiers)
Yeap, its called horseshoe teory indeed, but its comonly used to make false corelations like saying that nazism and comunism are equals (whats its not).
Rank s is best record
does she know about the man in the trucks that is about to come next.
You are so pretty and i'm glad you're enjoying the MGS series, maybe you could try the splinter cell franchise as well ? That would be awesome
To S rank, you just have to do it without killing anyone, captain included.
i want more batman lol :)
About El Che, he was also homofobic, so yeah, what a character
Its been nice looking forward to these metal gear fridays makes miserable london a bit less miserable nice work whimsy!
Whoever told her that you needed to stealth to get the mechs is outta pocket 😂you just have to eliminate all the troops and damage the tank a little the only time you would stealth would be to capture the tank at 100% health but to S rank you just have to do it without killing hope this helps anyone else playing 🫡
