the ASC are not easy to replicate. looking forward to see how Eric pulls it off ! here's an ASC picture of the inside: images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/55787f0ae4b02f0501debbeb/1454696385331-6G5MCMI9B35CT4S6RTQ1/?content-type=image%2Fjpeg
Damn, Eric. You must have made millions. Congrats! This new angle with the channel is gonna be a hoot. Please share the construction process with your subscribers.
How did I miss this! Please keep these channel active. We all know is the best youtube channel for music nerds! Congrats on the new place and good luck with this new phase of your life.
I knew you were in a Vermont home when i saw the top left corner of the door trim compromised by the pitch of the roof! Missing my home state watching this vid. Very excited for you. Thanks for everything you share with us> My productivity, workflow, and sonic pallet have grown in leaps and bounds because of this channel. cheers!
I’ve seen some “diy tube trap” videos that differ greatly on UA-cam.. can you maybe order one extra tube trap and take it apart on camera? Idk if that’s possible or a dumb question. Just want to know how these awesome ones that you are using are put together. Some of these commercial tube traps are hellla expensive :(
I'm definitely going to do an episode on the tube traps when I get there. They really aren't anything too fancy and yes the ASC ones are insanely expensive. I may buy one of theirs and take it apart to see if there is anything deeper going there :)
@@mrwev Please do.. I am an engineer for a FM radio station in Baltimore, and I'm designing and building out a studio in my small home to mix our in-studio recordings during this lockdown. It would be sick to hear your take on some of the commercial sound treatment products. Thanks again for having literally the best pro audio channel on UA-cam, and welcome to the East coast!
Eric, I’m blown away by what you’re building. When do you envision it will be ready? Dredg looking to record new LP summer/fall ‘21. Would love to chat about it.
Wow!! just wow holy F@#$ that is incredible I can't even fathom how cool its going to be and how unbelievably amazing it would be to stay there and record there and sit in on a making records. Congratulations! can't wait to see it built
Yes! Great news. First ACDC got back together and now this. Cant wait to see the updates as it all evolves and hopefully you will do an ep with EQ curves of the various stages of acoustic treatment.
So excited to see the whole build, I love acoustics and building as much as all the other processes involved in making records, So stoked that you and your family have found you're forever home.
This reminds me of the Chevy Chase movie "Funny Farm". You are living a dream I have always had of converting a barn into a studio. I'm super excited to watch this progression and hope you find time to update us in UA-camland
Oh man wish you good luck with that great project. I am currently just rebuilding my 25 ft x 25 ft basement, including a new home studio place and It goes like an endless project. The scale of your project is 1000x what I am in. Well, that is going to be a "journey" as you like to say! Hope to see more about it !
Congrats on this! I would love to see a full audio editing process for a track. I would seriously just sit and watch the whole thing. Beggars can’t be choosers though-so happy with this channel.
That's awesome, Eric. Congratulations! As a fellow east coaster, I'd come up to Vermont in a heartbeat for a workshop in the future. We're planning our wedding around Grand Point North weekend up there next year :)
Man this is soooo cool! I'm so excited for those of you that are in the biz of making music - I can see the vision and the experience here is going to be magic. I own a commercial construction owners rep project management firm myself so I feel your pain on buildout snags. Have built studios here in miami for RCL and Carnival Cruise lines' land based rehearsals of their ship shows and it's been the funnest projects I've ever managed. Learned so much about the acoustical dampening and STC rated doors etc. enjoy it and keep posting updates! - Maureen
Wow, super exciting stuff. Big congrats! Would love to see a tutorial on building one of your tube traps. There seems to be a lot of conflicting info out there, and it would be great to get a closer look at your approach.
This is so great. I can’t wait to watch the progress (namely acoustics) Congrats to you and your family! Hope your little human is keeping you on your toes! I know my two are, with another on the way! Have a merry Christmas.
This makes me happy. Someone selling off everything and disappearing is usually not a good sign but it turns out to be very exciting news. Congratulations!
This will be absolutely amazing! Thanks for sharing this journey with us. I have to ask: What will happen with the Undertone audio consoles at Barefoot?
Congratulations man. What a wonderful thing for you and your family. Best of luck and sincere thanks for the incredible knowledge and content you share with us all on here.
First album made in the barn studio has to have some country vibes. haha. Stoked to see the build, please make sure you document the progress of the build. that live venue/live room is going to be insane. I hope you keep the barn character!!
when/if i ever made my own studio set up it would be ALOT like what you are up to a large outer "containment" building then dig out inside of that for the main studio/performance area/s with offices, lounges etc on the ground level with easy access to "the outside" for basketball court ect
Hey Eric! Ever so stoked for you to start on your new path in Vermont in the Sonic Forest and your recording retreats. I would love to hear more about how you incorporate songwriting/production into your job as a producer, and engineer. Maybe a day on that? Oh, on another note, curious about the MPEQ-1. Has UTA discontinued forever? I notice its not longer available @ VK, and isn't mentioned on the UTA site.
This is like one of the coolest things I have ever seen! I know so many people would love to learn directly under you (I most certainly do), and this will be such an incredible thing for artists! Will you be taking one of the undertone consoles to the studio?
Hi Erik - Congratulations on the big move! This news is music to me ears ... I've been following your work for a long time and have learned a ton from your videos (thank you for sharing so much). What details can you share about your school concept (will people be able to enroll?). Also, are you planning on working with interns? And what would the process be for applying for such a thing? I too live in VT ...moved to the Vergennes area in Jan '21 and have a similar (albeit, on a much much smaller scale) concept in mind: a studio in an adjacent building with live-in quarters, and an opening to the yard for live performances. If we start on this project next year as planned, I'd imagine we'll have something ready to bring artists to by late '23 (my wife and I will be building as much as we can by ourselves). In the meantime, I'm just trying to learn as much as I can, network, and build up my gear/capacity/skills. So, I'm messaging you here with hopes of connecting. Be well!
you have to name the new studio "BarnFoot"
If you do build your own tube traps. I know we would LOVE to see a video on how YOU build them.
I'll do an episode on em!
