@@dougmcmullen4634 And what a great guitar player David Gilmour is. Top 10 all time, #1 in my opinion. I've only seen one guy on UA-cam that comes close to matching the sound of Gilmour's effects/amps. And really no one matches what David's fingers do to actually get his tone.

Yeah, Young Lust is one of my favourite Floyd songs so I was happy to see it but Interstellar was cool to see as well. Nice to see him show a bit of Syd Barrett’s playing, that riff sounded awesome

Can we just think about how David Gilmour is one of the best Fender strat player of all time ( the best guitarist of all time for me ) and how you didn’t play a single one of his riffs with a strat !
I only have a strat with di marzio humbucker pickup, it may have the strato look but not the sound. This one has a vintage fender single coil which is more similar to the sound, that's why 🙌🏻
After all, David used a Telecaster anywa
@@eduardoescobar566 I think for some stuff he used other guitars but the Black Strat was used for the Dark Side of the moon.
Actually David Gilmour recorded more songs on Telecaster than people think. Most famously another brick in the wall including the solo was recorded on a telecaster as gilmour himself said.

I think Echoes has one of the best riffs of all time but it gets no love
I totally agree! That whole album is underrated
That legendary riff part in echoes right after those whales and the build up to the riff always gives me crazy goosebumps, the first time I heard it i ate like 500 mg's of edibles and my mind damn near exploded into billions of fragments, in short terms it was pretty much a religious experience.

please no, i've only heard one guitarist get close, the one who was in the Rush Tribute with me, Alex is really hard to copy correctly, so is Gilmour, that brick in the wall riff sounded bad

Telecaster sounds great but I didn’t like the other guitar’s sound at all.
Just as mecanical as the guy playing it
*sees telecaster in a Pink Floyd video* “ah man, well I guess it could be worse” *sees a controller that’s shaped like a guitar* *has controller that can act as literally any instrument but uses a guitar setting for one of the most famous bass lines ever*
But teles are awesome!
David Gilmour used teles before and used one for the recordings of animals

Your Mom David had a telecaster before the Black Strat but it was stolen which left him needing a new guitar ergo the strat. Man songs such as Run were played on a tele, which is nicknamed “The Workmate”, which he actually kept rather than sell in his auction, while he sold the strat.

I think its that guitar. It sounds very digital and flat. It clearly does not have the dynamic of a real guitar. It looks like the other guy is struggling to make it sound good
Some of the stuff he played just sounds wrong/bad
It's probably the guitar. It has no acoustic feedback so if you strum a big chord you don't get that nice resonating feedback and sense of power if you know what I mean.
The other dude doesnt put his fellings on the instrument. You cant play David Gilmour without felling

5:26 you’re telling me that you have a mini controller and you couldn’t be bothered enough to use a bass setting?
The riff might be more recognized as a bass riff but it's also a guitar riff since you can hear the guitar layering the bass in the original song

Does animals really have riffs? The one at the end of sheep is killer, but otherwise I think it’s just a large collection of amazing solos. My favorite album, but not really one to take riffs away from imo.

I agree, where's "Dogs", and i guess have many songs with better ritfs than "Time" and "Hey you" or "Another brick..." , songs that i love but "One of my turns", "One of these days", have great riffs better than these.
The bridge/interlude riff in Pigs (Three Different Ones) is awesome, one of my favourite riffs on that album

Joe Vitale Hey man, I don‘t know how you think about pink floyd, but in my opinion, the band is one of the few exceptions to the rule that the guitar-playing does the biggest part of the work and not the tone, when I think about pink floyd I always think about that amazing tone and you just took that away and thats what you are being critizied for I believe. You as a Person/Guitarplayer are *not* the problem, the look the guitar is not the problem but the fact that it sounds like a synth. We hold no grudge against you and I hope you take this as constructive criticism. ✌🏼

David Gilmour is the definition of the saying “sometimes less is more” his guitar playing isn’t super complex but it’s so effective. Greatest guitarist to do it IMHO

A lot of people are knocking the 'toy guitar' and I’m in total agreement with you all. However, I travel a lot! And if I’m honest, going without feeling my fingers on a fretboard kills me!
