- This is a great question and one that I get asked a lot by friends and patients alike. In the video, I'll outline the 3 main differences between physical therapy and chiropractic care.
I also have 3 more things to consider when choosing to work with a PT and/or chiropractor that should help you make a good decision.
Please leave a comment or question below. Thanks for watching!

It says a lot about the integrity of someone, when they can talk highly of others. You do yourself a great favor, sir.
What you said might be true in some countries, but not in others.
In NZ, after trying both physiotherapy and chiropractic treatments, I feel that seeing physiotherapist is useless, wasting my time and money. The physiotherapist simply gave me a list of exercises to do at home, no treatment done on my back pain. Whereas, the chiropractors did all the adjustments on me in very safe ways on the adjustment beds. After seeing the chiropractors for less than 7 sessions, my pains were gone. No so for physiotherapy.
That's a good point: that things vary from country to country. In the US, there are a lot of really good PTs who do excellent work with their hands. But there are also still quite a few who only give out generic exercises. The point is to find a good one who can help you reach your goals. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I’m a physical therapist, and I would say steer clear of any chiropractor that ascribes to the subluxation theory. These will be chiropractors that say they can cure cancer, autism, colic, etc with adjustments and diet/supplements.
I love the way you explain it. So responsible and professional. In some situations .it will requires both discipline , working together hand in hand. for the best solution to patients.
I’m a pre-DC student and find this to be a very good, un biased review of the two professions! I support PT and plan to encourage my future patients to use PT when they need it.
Thank you, Sarah! Our two professions can absolutely work well together to provide even better outcomes for our clients. Best of luck with your studies!
Another big difference is that PTs tend to be short term (make a treatment plan and work toward ending it within a few weeks) and chiros try to make patients come back long term for "maintenance". So PT tends to be cheaper for the patient and insurance.
I know many people that are still going to a chiropractor, and still are paying for it without getting better. Anyone I know who went to physio are done within a timeframe.
Lifestyle plays a big part. I see a chiro to align my back due to the activity I do. You don’t always have to see them before an incident.
Biggest lie I've read
Great information Gordon, thank you so much for caring about people like me. I'm amazed that you don't have more subscribers but I'm sure that will change soon cuz I enjoy this Channel and I will share it 👍
Thanks, Italian girl! I'm planning to continue posting regularly, so maybe that will help my subscribes. Thanks for sharing my channel :-)
I see a pt and have seen multiple chiropractors, why is it that the chiropractors never want me to see a pt while I’m seeing them?
They tell me it’s because the pt will undo the work they are doing but I don’t understand that.
The pt encourages me to see the chiro but not the other way around.
That happens in both directions sometimes, Larry. It really just depends on the individual provider. I've heard chiropractors say that, and I've heard PT say it too. Ultimately, it's nice to find a PT and chiro who work well together and respect each other. The team approach :-)
@@GordonPhysicalTherapy the chiropractors say that the physical therapist will undo everything the chiropractor did .
I just don’t understand it
Thank you for the balanced review.
No problem!

Thank you for your comments!
A PT is not at the same level as a chiro but a DPT might be. That's the difference. Don't forget about the D here🙃
I get my therapy and treatments from osteopaths
That's a good route.
