    I had almost the exact same experience as you. Started assembly of the first grill and found the inside of the firebox to have the paint chipping and the pieces that separate the burners bent towards the center. I called customer service got on a video call with them and they shipped me a whole new one. Great customer service. Just received the new grill Fri and assembled. Noticed a couple spots of paint chipping on the welds but fairly minor. Will season it today and try it out. Overall sounds like I had the same experience as you. Pretty impressed with the build quality and very much so with customer service. Wish Quality Control was better. Thanks for sharing!

      @@thedude7315 no I ordered directly from Traeger, probably the reason customer service experience went so smooth.

    Thanks for sharing! I am going to stick with my 1st gen blackstone 36 that is 5 years old and only paid $240 for. Still works like a champ. Will wait for 2nd version before I think I modernize to a flat rock.

    Sucks to hear this. I have mine in the box, got it 3 days ago. Have not put it together because my wife had surgery and I have a really bad back. But Today I will try go get it going if the weather permits? I hope I don't have issues, as we are going away for a month and don't have time to go back and forth with issues. I rather get a full refund end of story. to many griddles out there to deal with waiting weeks for parts. I didn't buy a new grill to have issues with it or wait for parts and have it taken away for repair. That's just me to each their own.
    I own a nice Weber Kamado S6 with the Kart. This was only $899 but it was also the most expensive Griddle for Backyard weekenders compared to other companies. If they brush me off on an issue, I will just ask them to pick it up.
    Thanks for sharing, please keep us updated and let us know how it goes.

    I had the same problem with the shelves being dented. Traeger sent replacements in less than a week! Now, I’ve noticed that the plastic on the front panel is cracked and spreading. Called Traeger and, yup, they’re sending a replacement. Customer service really is legendary with Traeger.

    I gotta say I love my Flatroc. I did have to swap it out initially for a new one. The first one had the knob opening holes offset too much to allow the knobs to slide in. So, I do agree there are some initial manufacturing issues. All that said, traeger shipped me a new one in less than a week. No issues with the new one. I did notice some hiccups in their instructions. Showing the gas holding pieces going the opposite direction than they actually need to go. As far as cooking, it is second to none. It’s got incredible cooking zones. The whole griddle heats up evenly. Quite impressive. Do agree that they need to step up quality control on these initial units they are shipping though. There are some great videos showing the difference in how evenly the various griddle companies cook. Traeger’s Flatroc smokes everyone. I have noticed that myself as well. Cheers everyone

      Completely agree. Their customer service was fantastic! They take care of their customers for sure. I've used mine twice and love it. Alot better than my pitboss 4 burner.

    For the folks saying this took them about 15 minutes to assemble…I call BS. I had a few hiccups in assembling my Traeger Flatrock.
    The legs come w/ stickers of chickens (2) and cows (2) and you’re supposed to match the stickers w/ the corresponding stickers on the base of the grill. The problem is that the stickers either on the legs or the main assembly were not in the right spots. It took at least 30 minutes for me to deduce that the stickers were simply put on the wrong pieces and therefore I couldn’t initially get the get the holes on the legs in the middle to face each other so I could install the leg braces. So yeah, I don’t think this was properly inspected before packing.
    On the same subject of installing the legs, it cannot be understated at how annoying it is to use the included (cheap) wrench to hold the nuts. You have to install two bolts, a set of washers, and a nut to secure each leg to the grill base. That nut is very difficult to get a good grip on w/ Traeger’s included wrench due to the tight construction of the metal surrounding this particular area. I lost my grip on that nut several times during the install, which then fell (sometimes w/ a pair of washers) inside the upside down grill and out of sight. Black washers, black nuts, lost inside a black-lined grill. I would have to flip the grill right side up and practically shake until I could find the missing parts. Traeger does not include any extra parts, so don’t lose them or you will be frustrated trying to shake out the grill to find your parts.
    You get to use that same wrench to finish tightening around 16 additional nuts in between the PAL rails and the side shelves. Again, there is not much room to maneuver this tiny wrench. You only have enough room to make tiny micro tightening adjustments at a time before having to reposition the wrench. It’s very tedious and time consuming.
    The paper manual, while detailed, some of the pictures are way too small to see the orientation of the parts you are to install. In the manual, there is a QR code that you’re supposed to scan that takes you to a ‘detailed video’ that shows you how to assemble the grill. It doesn’t, it takes you to a Traeger app that sells more Traeger products and recommend recipes. So I searched for a video on YT and I found the assembly video. However, there is a contradiction in the animation that shows the brackets that you bolt the side braces between each pair of legs. The animation shows one part orientated one way, and then 30 seconds later, the part is improperly modeled in the assembly simulation which is confusing when you try to install the piece.
    The tube of Traeger seasoning paste is a waste of money if you ask me. Use something cheaper and something you can cook w/ …..use Avocado Oil.
    First cook, smash burgers, went well overall though.

      I can't agree more! The little wrench was a joke and trying to use an actual wrench was almost impossible. Out of all the traegers I've owned this was probable the most difficult to assemble. Over all though, the cooks are great!

    I went through 3 Flatrocks - all had the flaking off enamel issue on the inside. I also looked at 2 more in 2 different Ace showrooms - also flaking off. Not something I expect on a $900 griddle. Traeger ended up giving me a refund and I purchased a Halo Elite 4B.

    I'm in the same boat as you. I'm not terribly impressed with the Flatrock. The left shelf is difficult to engage, I think the rear bracket is ever so slightly bent. My ignitor system arrived defective. The ignitors continue to click, even though all of the burners are lit. At least Traeger is sending replacement ignitors. My final complaint is with the cover (sold separately). For the price I would expect this to be more robust and weather-proof. It's relatively light compared to pellet grill covers I bought from Traeger in the past.

    • @MrCoop-sr4pv
      @MrCoop-sr4pv Рік тому

      It may not be the grill that’s causing the clicking. It maybe the the polarity is reversed. Check by using a 9v battery.if that fixes it it’s your outlet. If it still does it it may be wired backwards it the grill.

      The cover is useless, Traeger advertises it as all weather, uncovered it today after rain over night, and the grill was soaked, the fold down shelves had water in them.
      Will be calling Traeger tomorrow. $99.00 cover shouldn’t be like this.
      A $5 tarp would be better.

    How is the bracket the propane tank hangs against on yours?.
    i got mine today (pre assembled) and the bracket is janky and just flops around.

    • @ChadHughes_Rate_Ride_DIY
      @ChadHughes_Rate_Ride_DIY  Рік тому +2

      Flimsy. I haven't found a good way to secure it so the tank doesn't push it off the bracket. As soon as I do though I will make a video to share the fix.

      @@ChadHughes_Rate_Ride_DIY I called Traeger and the person I spoke to was dismissive of the issue. I cut a peice of wood and wedged it on the backside. Can’t wait to hear my wife when she sees it. “You paid how much? And you have to rig it??

      @ITBizkit Yea I hear you there, my wife is the same way lol. I got the Ironwood XL, the day it was delivered and built I ordered the flatrock. It's amazing how well packed these things are but you can definitely tell that the flatrock was skimmpt on. The cover they have for it is worthless. The covers on my other traegers are fantastic. They tell you to spray some water proof spray on the flat rock cover to keep water from penetrating.......I paid $99 for a piece of non waterproof cloth with the traeger logo.......

    All Flatrocks are currently on recall for the propane leaking while knobs turned fully , off unless you turn the propane tank off at the tank itself the grill will leak propane . Hence if you go online it’s says they are sold out but with further investigation it’s because of the recall on all models
