In 1968, I made a wool plaid pleated skirt with 21 pattern pieces. I matched them all. I was 18 years old and my mom was in the hospital and couldn’t advise me. Obviously, all these decades later I’m still proud. It was also lined.

This is a hit for sure, people shouldn't sleep on this one, especially while the price is so low - one of my great loves with patterns is when each variation is drafted separately and these all are. I can see exactly why all the pattern testers are all going crazy over it, the pockets, the waistband, the variations, AND because of the variations, there is a wide range of fabric requirements, I'm looking at the instructions right now like yesssss, 1.4-2.3m, I can colour block with so many of my minerva remnants with this.

I use centered zippers and that is a tad different to lapped zippers. This time I did one invisible zipper as it was part of the pattern. In general, we can do whatever we prefer :)

Love this pattern, and my favourite of your makes is the maxi skirt with a split, probably because this would be the style I’d make for myself.
The last time I wore a skirt was probably 20 years ago. I don't ever wear them, however, you made it look so easy and the results were amazingly beautiful! I may have just changed my mind. Thank you!

I love all your versions. I think I would add edgestitching to the inside pleats just to make sure the folds stay sharp. Now I’m going to raid my stash for a skirt.

Agree about an invisible zipper. They have their place but for general use, I prefer a standard zipper. Cute skirts. The longer one with the slit is my favorite.

Hiya Karina, This skirt is cute. Question, when you understitched the pocket and then topstitched. Why would there be a reason to understitch if you topstitched? I am bummed I missed the sale. 😫TIA
The sale is still on through the 25th. I understitch to keep the pocket bag inside and to make the seam roll to the inside. Topstitching does not replace understitching :)
This is such a helpful video. I was looking at the finished measurements today and noticed that the XL which I planned to sew has much less ease at the waist than the other sizes, only 0.5 inches. Do you think that is accurate as I may need to grade out at the waist to give more ease for comfort if that is the case.
It’s accurate and due to the grading software. If you are concerned, you can add 1/4” to the sides and that gets you an 1” extra. It was ok for me because my waist is 37” and not 38” so I had a bit more space.

can you tell me in a simple way, how to make it a pull-on skirt with elastic, without a zipper?
Increase the width of all the pieces on the top area to be at least the hip circumference so you can pull it up over them. Make the waistband longer and a rectangle shape. Put an elastic inside :)

Do you think your invisible zipper foot could work on a regular nylon zipper installation?
No, I don't see how it would help you. A regular zipper foot does the job well.
