Lyrics:
Well this is just a simple song
To say what you done
I told you about all those fears
And away they did run
You sure must be strong
And you feel like an ocean
Being warmed by the sun

Only thing that got me through the pandemic
Still loving this phrase SO much!

Whatever you do in this life, it's only legendary if your friends are there to see it.

"Guess I will take the train"
And the rest was history
OMG, goosebumps!
Lily: "What time do you leave on monday?"
Ted: "Early, gonna have to head back to the city sunday night."
Lily: "How are you gonna get back?"
Ted: "I guess i'll take the train."
and that's what we call destiny
Season: 8 chapter: 24
this song it's like a dead line because when it sounds you know that all the things are going to change.
And the rest is history.. ❤
Ted's BEST decision ever!
And the rest, as they say, is now history
2020 and still..."One ticket to farhampton, please"
I've just been watching How I Met Your Mother this year in episode order from series 1. I've just finished the last episode of series 8 where this song played. The song just seemed such a good choice for this scene. I'm going to be so, so sad when I finish series 9 (the last series).
@@katarazzi get ready to be disappointed
@@katarazzi Just turn it off when he says "And Kids, that is how I met your mother" It was absolutely perfect to that point!
Just finishing.. 12th or 13th binge. There are many other awesome shows, sure, but nothing came close in sitcom field. I just can´t let those people go :)
2021!!
This is the song that plays in my head when the clouds float away and I can feel the sunshine. Thanks to the shins and himym for pulling my out of depression
Clouds are also beautiful ... Why do people mostly view sunshine as something positive? Isn't darkness the more astounding underlying reality of sunshine ? Isn't most of the universe dark and empty ? Sunshine is there because there's sun. Sun will die, as will all other stars, and us too. Darkness and emptiness is the only thing(if I can call it that) which will always remain.
personally I love the soft white light that comes with overcast skies
Me too my friend. Me too 😊
This song is the BEST antidepressant for anyone. It's just so EPIC that now I feel like I can conquer the hardest things I ever will face in my life.
@@sarthakjoshi3797that same logic could apply to the same thinking but the opposite. Stars are like us, temporary but the impact we have on the universe will live in forever. It's the little good everywhere that makes life worth living, etc.

Yesssssssssss
i really think this is one of the best songs ever written, the atmosphere is simply breathtaking
Agreed...not sure why this song isn't more popular
It was big, it's just old.
Bird O Yeah it's incredibly old, 2 years old. *facepalm*
You should watch the clip
It's amazing in so many ways
Agreed
"She's on her way - and she's getting here as fast as she can." - Stella
She's only 56 hours away Ted. She's almost there
Well this is just a simple song
To say what you done
I told you about all those fears
And away they did run
You sure must be strong
And you feel like an ocean
Being warmed by the sun
When I was just nine years old
I swear that I dreamt
Your face on a football field
And a kiss that I kept
Under my vest
Apart from everything, but the heart in my chest
I know that things can really get rough when you go it alone
Don’t go thinking you gotta be tough, to play like a stone
Could be there’s nothing else in our lives so critical
As this little home!
My life in an upturned boat, marooned on a cliff
You brought me a great big flood
And you gave me a lift
To care, what a gift
You tell me with your tongue
And your breath was in my lungs
And you float over the rift
I know that things can really get rough when you go it alone
Don’t go thinking you gotta be tough, to play like a stone
Could be there’s nothing else in our lives so critical
As this little home!
Well this will be a simple song to say what you’ve done
I told you about all those fears and away they did run
You sure must be strong
And you feel like an ocean
Being warmed by the sun
Remember walking a mile to your house, a glow in the dark
I made a fumblin’ play for your heart and the act struck a spark
You wore a charm in a chain that I stole especially for you
Love’s such a delicate thing that we do, with nothing to prove
Which I never knew
+Sarhan Sayeed Yes, these are the lyrics
Thanks, actually, thanks a bunch.
+Sarhan Sayeed Woah, your copy/paste skills are impressive as hell. Can I study under you?
Every song has in the comments the lyricks made by a random guy /girl. Thank you

Let's be honest Simpls song, Mother of Pearl, and 500 miles are some great songs that we found because of Himym. Thanks Ted you did us proud
Thank God someone that appreciates Mother of Pearl.
Barbarossa - Stones is good too
@@Natures_Ambient I forgot to mention that. There are like 10 other songs I found since I wrote that. The show had some great music I must admit
Yes and let’s not forget Souvenir by Billy Joel & Downtown Train, my ultimate favorite Himym song (tied with Tracy’s rendition of La Vie En Rose)
"Good luck with that, your Honour"
:) yup
Such a powerful moment
What movie
+delfi angeletti How I met your mother ( series not a movie )
u spelled honor wrong
My favorite song from the entire series. It really brought season 8 to a close perfectly and introduced the wife beautifully.
I never even heard of this band until this show . I’ve since became a major fan of many of their songs after.
Great band
What show are you talkin about?
@@RWRogers thanks. Slight generation gap between us I think.👍😂👍🙄😂👍
@@Jamie-lw5sy how I met your mother
Funeral is my fav by band of horses but this is a gem
@@austindelisle3900 ohhh yes!! Love that one too. I swear; if nothing else - this series seriously got screwed and under-appreciated on that end! The writing is superior to that of Friends but its soundtrack is absolute golden! The music production was deserving of Emmy’s. They didn’t make most of the chosen songs, altho they did some catchy original tunes haha but they chose music that wasn’t necessarily mainstream but brought A lot of fans to music the bigger commercial studios and marketing ignore. Incredible bands and songs in and of itself but they made scenes so much more powerful and memorable… they knew what they were doing. 😎
But hey… the broader society and industry itself doesn’t have to appreciate them in order for me too.
But clearly, it is bigger than the show itself. I see some never even heard of the TV show! But know the music.
The Shins are definitely bigger than the TV show.
This song is so motivational to me, I'm not sure why.
For me it's like a song of hope. That even though I've been through a lot, and it's okay to feel bad about it. But then I can always get back on my feet, and keep on fighting.
+Joseph Nguyen Shut the fuck up
Yes sir, I apologize for anything I must have said to offend you.
It was sarcasm haha.
it happen to me too
I can't even begin to describe how this song makes me feel. It's such a glorious and hopeful ode to how the people we love get us through hard times, and how strong the ties are between people who stick it out together, and how any place can feel like home when the people you love are there. It's a beautiful love song, to a lover or a friend or anybody or everybody, and it seems like it cherishes the past, present, and the future equally. It makes me so happy.
Love's such a delicate thing that we do with nothing to prove.
that...was...deep. I raise my glass towards you.
which I never knew
so beautifully put.. Thank you!
that is THE line from this song, it just pierces yet doesn't hurt :)
So true!
This is NOT a simple song.. the pervasive alliteration, the enthusiatic drumming; this is heartfelt and amazing.
I thought it was a song from the late eighties or early nineties the first time I heard it. There’s a strong Jesus Jones vibe
You know that moment when a show introduces you to an amazing song and you're just like, "Thank you" to the show?
Yup, that's me right now ^^ Thank you HIMYM :)
+Natalhy C same tbh
+Lindsey Blake Exactly!!!
+Natalhy C I look for this song after watching 'something new', 8x24 from HIMYM. =D

“I know things can really get rough when you go it alone, don’t go thinking you gotta be tough to bleed like a stone..” ....This song is so lovely. Makes me feel like an ocean being warmed by the sun for sure.
I'm seriously struggling with how good this song is, musically, lyrically, and structurally.
himym’s soundtracks are just amazing. most of them are already in my playlist now. i wish a reunion or something like that for himym like friends one and i wish all of you happiness.
Man the nostalgia is real... so sad HIMYM is over
Cresia same, I love that show so much
Im just glad it got to finish, could you imagine if it got canceled? I am about as thankful for this show as Ted was for Tracey
Rewatch it bro, It’s my 22nd time since the show ended, still tears me up

Your gonna make me cry
I found this song before how I met your mother, but I really like that so many people are finding great music because of the show. They truly had some of the best music soundtracks, and one of the best themes in a show. I'm very glad for HIMYM bringing so many people here.
Thanks to HIMYM this song always feels like everything's coming into place, like even the little things lead up to big stuff. It's fantastic.

Can you imagine how many people would not know about this awesome song if it wasn't for HIMYM? All the Shins fan should be happy that a tv show brought to them good music as I have found a good tv show from listening to the shins
Literally nearly none of us were brought here by how I met your mother.
Random Plaza Except me that is... and like a whole other bunch up in the comments above. Who cares anyway how you got here? I think we can all agree that it's a great song, let's just enjoy it.

You are not leaving because you think the love of your life isn't in New York, you are leaving because you think she is
I`ve been listening this for 8 years. Still love it
For the last hour i heard this song a hundred times... again, again and again.
Same! No complaints
4:15 x 100 = 415min, one hour is 60 minutes, your statement is therefore incorrect. Sorry I just had to. Great song!
MATH
mohaha1223 Technically he could have listened to it sped up, making listening to it a hundred times in an hour possible. I agree, great song!

jonasobado that goes well with "Baker Street" by Gerry Rafferty...
Hayabusa Nance and a bottle of Bacardi...

Legendary combination
jonasobado neat?
‘And you feel like an ocean being warmed by the sun’...what a simple sentence that conveys so much meaning. You can almost feel what they’re saying.
2021 and still: "One ticket to farhampton, please"
It’s 2024 and I’m hearing this song for the first time in at least a decade. Man that hit me in the feels. I need to get out there and make some friends. Life is too short and it’s easy to get caught up in the grind.
RIP Richard. Thanks for the great music
This song is happiness! Here comes the Spring
The storyline of "How I Met Your Mother" is either stupidly brilliant or brilliantly stupid.

True
Or both
This song is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard :)
Shut up Meg!
I often listened to this song on the radio while taking my brother in law to his leukemia chemo treatments at the university of San Francisco. It seemed odd that this song looped on the radio in San Fran but not in the central California valley where were from.
this song on its own is already awesome, but factor in meeting the mother as well just gives me goosebumps
"I guess I'll take the train"
the foreshadowing is just amazing

Everyone will have the chance to get his lebenslanger schicksalsschatz, but not everybody will get his lebenslanger schicksalsschatz. I think i haven´t got the chance so far, but i hope that i´ll get the chance someday-because i really want to get my lebenslanger schicksalsschatz.

Found The Shins on my UA-cam recommended list, practically by complete accident. "Simple Song" has topped the chart for my all time favorite song. Every time I listen to this one song, I get sent away to a better place and it's just beautiful.

I'm gonna remember this song for a long time. I've been watching Something New ... And this simple song remember me that this is The Last Forever. Today it's the end of one of the best series that I watch. HIMYM
