If you go back and watch the annihilation gang trailer it makes it very apparent they could be in amphoreous, caterina gets talked to about drowning them in their golden ichor which is the blood of chrysos heirs in amphoreous and duke tells Constance to seal them in the remembrance’s tomb which is a major path in amphoreous

Edit: Not killing Adventurine was ridiculous given how they built up his oncoming death. Robin not sacrificing herself in any meaningful way was ridiculous given how they built up her upcoming death/atonement. There's plenty of examples similar to this now.
Imo post GGZ and HI3 early story right after Himeko death, mihoyo seems don't have the gut the kill important main cast again. If there would be a character death, it would be a character outside the main cast that got added out of the blue just to be killed, only to "show" how dark the story was

It used to feel like “oh this character goes well with this and this character could debuff the enemies for my damage dealer to make more damage”. Now, it turns into “I need to plan my pulls”
Welcome to gacha games? First line is only something you say when you are casually into a gacha game tbh. You just got more invested into the game and care too much about meta nowadays.
Yeah, if you're f2p you need to plan your pulls in every gacha game, unless you want to have a busted account with non-synergistic units...
I mean, 1.x used to just have characters that are divided into many categories like damage dealer and such. Characters still work best with some particular others but the difference is low enough that you have to find out yourself how to optimize the damage. Now, they are categorized into metas. For example, you pull for a character. However, for them to work best, not only do you have to pull for someone that support/is supported by said that character, you have to see if they belong to that “meta” (fua, acheron, superbreak, etc.). When you miss their banner, you practically lost your chance to optimize the character you wanted for months.
@@RhoukaNah the game makes you care too much about the Meta. There’s literally NOTHING in this game besides endgame modes to use our teams against once you beat the main story.
We also BARELY get any new casual combat events when was the last event where we could freely use our teams against?

HI3's Himeko dying wasn't the death itself that was significant, it's the impact it had on the main character that was significant. Himeko in HI3 was the reason why Kiana kept pushing herself, kept getting up when she's down, and her maturing as a character.
Since then, I don't think there'll ever be a death that's as significant as Himeko's.
I unironically think the only hsr character that's in danger from actually dying is Himeko, cause I mean we need nihility Trailblazer somehow...

I went into HI3 knowing about her death because I had watched the animated shorts before I played the game, so it wasn't impactful for me at all 😂 but you are right. It was her character development that happened that changed the game and made Himekos death matter . Kiana wasn't a perfect goody two shoe MC like the traveler. She was a very flawed character and I think that's what makes her the best MC out of all Hoyo's games
@@_Eisley Himeko death wasn't that impactful to me either AT THE START. Then I saw how it affected the characters, mainly Kiana, and it became a big deal over the course of the rest of the game. Now every time I watch Final Lesson I get unironically teary eyed lol

The lack of anything negative being able to happen to any playable character that has lasting effects on said character after their release is an issue I've been putting in the surveys of Hoyoverse games for years now. And as of the release of Natlan, it was when I finally called it quits for all hoyoverse titles and have been enjoying other more interesting games that take risks with their storytelling (playing non-gacha titles always make hoyo stories seem like a joke(besides hoyo climaxes, they are fun in the moment)).
Reason why HI3 Part 1 story was so good. Idk why they gave up on that.

It feels like HSR is having the same problem that FF14 has: They have a community that is so attached to the characters that they're afraid to do anything dangerous to them.
Now the game is just page after page of dialog, and they pretend like they're working up to something impactful, but it just never goes anywhere. The buildup to Penacony with Sparkle and Acheron were really cool, and then the actual payoff was pretty mid. And 3.0 was a big step back from 2.0, which was a step back from 1.0.
I don't understand this criticism, we literally got pay off with this story as we defeat nikador after we build him up as a threat and explore his character too.
This was a surprise to me after penacony which had so much bait and switch, actually getting something done this update signifies good progress. What other pay off were people looking for here, we're on amphoreus for the next year and the story just started.
Penacony was all build up and no pay off, but this is literally just the beggining of the story and we've already got some pay off. Acting like any build up is bad because of penacony is just absurd to me.
The build up in this game is bad because I spent 10 hours doing puzzles and reading mumbo jumbo word bloat jargon to the point i dont care or even know what's happening. Ff14 does the same shit. Let me play the fucking game, if I want to read I'll go read a book. Idk any game besides visual novels that do this kind of thing where the main story has 0 gameplay. Then you play the endgame for 30min every week or so. And everything turns out alright with 0 consequences

@EyesDontCry To me, 3.0 felt bad because Nikador never felt like a big deal. They said he was a shell of his former self because of the madness, so it just felt like we were fighting some elite mob than a war god.
At least Penacony had Acheron slash the dimension, and the giant angel robot, which were cool cinematic moments.
@@ElderGamerX I mean I can't say that wasn't intentional, they wanted to portray nikador as a shell of his former self hence we literally meet his former self and he is made aware of what he is to become.
When it comes to expectations I can understand how you felt he was a bigger deal, but by that point we are aware he is not the only titan we'll have to deal with so it's not like he's the final boss of amphoreus nor are they pure melevolance like phantylia was.
Atleast we got a rematch after he beat us the first time, so he wasn't portrayed as weak on the contrary he is still quite strong and we need to literally seek out another titan and go to the past to stop him. I found that whole narrative thread quite compelling.
And to be clear this is all unrelated to the presentation issues, I didn't mind them as much as others especially after the first act securing okehma which was somewhat dull to me. This is purely from the narrative and characters being built, nothing excuses the static black screens. I did really like the cinematic with nikadors final speech but those moments are few and far between.
HSR just has terribly rushed cutscenes that always feel weirdly cut short, I noticed this even more so when playing wuthering waves now and finishing up the 2.0 quest the other day where they had great cutscenes which actually elevate the moment and are given the proper time to build tension.
Again I'm rather resistant to this as someone who isn't looking for flashy art direction and prioritise stories but that's to say you can't completely seperate the 2 and I think that's why so many people dislike the story. It's not so much that it's a bad story, I'd argue it's good and has alot of meat to it but for most people it's just miserable to experience and so they come away hating the story because of its presentation which then also tinges the story itself as many struggle to connect with it as much.

I liked the 3.0 story too and can't help but to feel all this negativity is just fueled by Twitter's echo chamber whose new hobby is trashing all Hoyo games, except ZZZ, which they trashed at launch anyway even though it was already pretty good back then 🤷

No one liked how only one character could use their ult because it limited team potential and basically made it so you’d just pop the best characters ult.
The game had problems and it got better because of that.
People come back to certain games like DS marvel rivals and other games because the do things that fans want because at the end of the day if the company can do stuff while also keeping players happy then it’s all good.

It's important to realize the perception of the gamestate alters everything around it as well. Back in 2.0, everyone loved Black Swan and Sparkle, the story was a little slow but they were calling it Peakacony, the arrival of Acheron and Firefly was a big deal. Now people look at 3.0 and The Herta and Aglaea are viewed with "They're cool but should I bother pulling when something better is in the future," the story is a little slow and theyre calling it Yaphorus, and Castorice and Phainon are seen as simply the next characters who will push the power scaling. It went from enjoying the game and its characters, building fun teams to buff up your favorites, to people clutching onto their pulls for dear life because they're so afraid of making a "bad" pull. If the game is fun, then people will be more lenient with its flaws and enjoy their experience more. If the game is annoying, then every tiny flaw is going to be brought to the surface to make the issues seem grander.

Nah, sorry, but if you can't clear MoC, that's not a pull problem, it's a build problem. And the biggests problem is sitting in front of the screen.
I do agree that the perception of people hass changed, but also because drama CCs on UA-cam have been farming the game for a while now, making everyone a lot more pessimistic and cynical.

I literally just used The Herta and jade the whole time I was playing the story and didn’t have a problem one time. Feels like I’m just doing stuff in the game for the soul purpose of getting jades for Castorice. Feels like doing chores for allowance.
This. Where before it felt like I was playing a game that also had gamba mechanics, now it feels like I am playing the game to get to more gambling. In other words, everything has become secondary to pulling and the quality has decreased to the point that I am just getting through the content to get more jades.

Are you dumb? A game is a game. Mobile, console or Pc? Doesn’t matter. Fun is what a game needs to be. If you take the fun out of a gacha game it becomes a glorified casino. There are plenty of “mobile games” that are fun. So it stands to reason that when a game drops in quality and “fun” to the point where we feel like it is less of a game and more of a casino, we will criticize it in hopes that it will get better.
Maybe you feel differently about the state of the game and your expectations are different. But to call someone dumb for criticizing a game and expressing their experience, especially on the premise that it is just a mobile game, makes you look like the idiot.
Genshin uninronically has a more impactful death than hsr. Focalor may not have been a playable character but it completely changed a playable characters personality and that's probably more impactful than any death in hsr

Misha and Gallagher didn't really "die". Misha is a Memory Zone Meme that somehow materialized from a Memory Bubble (which according to Black Swan is impossible), and Gallagher vanished from existence because everyone saw through his facade. Maybe his entire existence is a facade, and once a facade is seen through, it ceases to exist.

@@p01nt_blank67 yeah you're right, that's why i put "death" in quotations. But to be fair i think if a character left mark on a player it's not about them being "real" or not. That's like the whole thing with simulations and games themselves. If connections and experiences you have with characters are real, if their story makes you think about your life choices, than they were "real" in some way. The problem is i don't feel that way about Gallagher, Misha and Cocolia, as you mentioned. Their death and story don't really matter to me, but it's all comes down to opinions of course 🫡
Them not doing anything with Welt is criminal, this is the same welt from HI3, he travelled to this universe WITH void archives, (ignoring that he somehow travelled the imaginary tree without the express), and has done nothing since. Where are the sky people who were targeting this universe's Himeko? where is void archives?
March's arc is the only thing that has me interested because i think she is the memokeeper that speaks to Kiana at the end of Hi3 part 1, and/or the emanator of rememberence since there is a surprising amount of evidence / clues that point towards the both of those theories
I feel like they are keeping the staff with Welt and VA for the distant future. We still don't have APHO 3 and there's no reason for them to touch sky people now, when even hi3rd is still not there.
Plus some people are already dissatisfied with all connections with hi3rd and getting angry about a few easter eggs (i don't really care but you know). I wonder how devs are gonna connect these two games in the future 🤔
Been playing gachas since 2016. It’s the same cycle of people loving the game then turning on it and moving on to a new game.

@ichigokage Believe me or not, I also want devs to improve the game. But I find it really exaggerating nowadays as referring to a certain criticism in a gacha space. You should give feedback to devs in a way that they implemented in a game. On the other hand, forcing people hate on each other is not the correct way of dealing with all of that. Especially in the media space, where everyone only needs a spark to start a war.
This is why Nikke's story is one of the best in gacha. There's a perfect balance of actual loss and plot armor and there's now even an legitimate lore explanation of said plot armor.
Hard agree. NIKKE has the best pacing of any gacha game out there. The main and event stories are never bloated, they're not afraid of killing or injuring characters, the interactions between the characters are entertaining, the lore is pretty deep that you begin to theorize a lot about the raptures and the governments involvement with them, and the balance between story and gameplay is perfect. The only real issue concerning the story is that the English dub is weak, but not horrible.
I love Nikke they cook with their main story meanwhile Hoyo games story feel so slow and everything is low stakes.

@@s4yto I think I have faith that WuWa will actually improve with each update, whereas with HSR/Genshin I have zero faith whatsoever that they'll improve. The difference being that kuro has shown a track record with the game of making changes based on the playerbase's feedback, while HSR and Genshin don't make many positive changes, Genshin especially. The 'genshin could never' meme started because of HSR and while HSR's launch was great, I think it hasn't really improved significantly since then, and has only really shown that they're getting lazier with 3.0's release. ZZZ's last couple patches were also very good, so here's hoping they keep up that trend.

It's because Hoyoverse's story is created for the sake of story, not by an actual writer but by Hoyoverse otaku. If you really think about it there is absolutely no message was given in it, yet a lot of kids who never read actual book will keep on pretending it's something deep 🤣

the world that hsr built is not simular to real life. because of that ppl dont resonate most of the time and you can argue it is not well writen like a good plot focused book, after hsr story being as is it is still a good story and it is just preference or bias at the end of the day

I've recently decided to get a second F2P acc. To combat my FOMO (I don't have funds for The Herta but still wanted to try her out) and as an experiment 'cause I happen to have some free time on my hands. Which means I played through Belobog story once again and, boi oh boi, let me tell you what a MINDBLOWING difference it is to experience Belobog again after the slop of Amphoreus.
First of all, changes of camera angles. All. The. Time. Characters just talking to each other? Here you go with separate shots of each of their faces, of them together from the side, from the top and from afar.
2D art scenes were not having one art for the entire 2-3 minute of dialogue. There were multiple 2Darts in one scene. Flashbacks about the discovery of Stellaron by Jarilo VI all had multiple 2D arts, Bronya's perfomance on stage in the end of the story - again, multiple 2Darts. Even moments that a lot of people would say "not needed to go at such extremes" (you know, what's the point of showing Black Swan touching March 7th or Tribbie opening a portal) had a 2D art: like Bronya and Seelie watching Express depart through the window - imagine HSR would just black screen this and be like : "Bronya and Seelie watched in silence as Express soared through the sky, going for a new adventure".
The final boss scene was basically: epic cutscene to boss fight to epic cut scene - to trailblazer receiving their power- to cut scene - to boss fight to cut scene and only then there was some dialog.
The entirety of Belobog took me roughly 4 to 5 hours to complete, I believe. We're not even half through the main storyline of Amphoreus and it's been ten hours of static screnes and half-voiced (english version) dialogue.
I can not believe I say it, but I doubt Genshin had EVER allowed itself to reliese such a lacklaster update to a main storyline on it's X.0 patches.

Also, I have to mention; Dan Heng, Himeko, Firefly & Kafka’s voices are all missing from the new story dialogue. Not letting that go.
And how many times do you have to be reminded that it's because of the strike? Hoyo recently moved to another VA company anyway (the same company as wuwa) and will (most likely) be slowly transferring their older VAs there.

I finally had the courage to quit Genshin Impact after 1500 active days. I also quit HSR.
The gacha games that I have REAL fun with are Zenless Zone Zero and Wuthering Waves.
I am in the process of doing it too. HSR was my first gatcha I just log in do daily and I am out. I haven’t even done anything in 3.0 and also I haven’t even started the story either. Been busy with Marvel rivals and ZZZ started playing it again since 1.4 and I been having more fun in that game that HSR, but it is still hard for me to quit it but I am on the process of quitting HSR until it gets better. Thanks for sharing

Now arknights is coming , I don't have the time nor money to keep it on my list. They had plenty of time and there chance. it was pretty hard to uninstall.
yeah for me the same with zzz and Wuwa. Im pretty close to quitting hsr. Probably the best decision someone could make, because hsr also kinda gets more greedy. They want to sell you the Eidolons so badly now and also how they present you the Substat chose item in the p2w shop. Its seems like they are more chasing after money as to give players a better game experience. They could change it easily, but why should they if most people are eating up everything they give you. They are in fact thinking just as a company and not as passionate devs.
Moreover more gacha games are coming. So yeah im really excited for enfield and azur promilia

First region was the most peak star rail, from there it was all downhill was getting boring and boring
Belobog was very hype, and I was expecting it to be in that energy throughout the different regions, like a more steampunk, gritty, dirty, mature than the previous game Genshin, it came down when it just started to emmit mickey mouse energy, lose of quality, devs not even putting much effort, and the story raising stakes without having the balls to kill any character
Same. What I find most funny is that Belobog is meant to be the equivalent of cavemen compared to other planets due to being cut off from the rest for so long, yet characters in Belobog still look more modern (more futuristic) than ones we meet past said Belobog.
I too like the Space station esthetic, wish we got more of it, and I don't mean Herta's station specifically, but just modern space areas in general. I can appreciate people like the story of Belobog but I hated the dirty grungy steampunk slum esthetic, always did. I hate early FF7 because of it, I hate narshe in FF6, i hate Belobog underworld, etc. I actually rather liked the Xianjou (forgot how to spell), but those self-rezzing enemies were hella annoying early game since they were essentially a middle finger to Selle who was the only 5* dps many of us had for quite some time.

i think the opposite. I like how its trying to have a blends of different worlds. I understood it started out as a space sci fi type environment but the fact they are traveling on a train traversing space is cool because its flexible and we are able to see different type of planets in the system. I hope we get one more tropical like, a jungle forest etc with primitive enemies would be cool :)

You don't hear people talking about it because not a lot of people actually play it. Himeko's death is the only thing talked about because that's all the casual playerbase knows about HI3. They don't know anything else about HI3 other than the fact Himeko died. He could've left out HI3 and his point still stands because not a lot of people know or would care about HI3 and that's fine. HSR used to be complex and it was fun to build teams around the mechanics of the fights. nowadays its just a DPS check + unit check. theres just no way to clear certain endgame modes without pulling the current banner unless you already had a similar team built. i used to never autoplay MoC because it was challenging, now i just autoplay all endgame modes to max stars 9/10 times
Yea true, the game encourages building multiple team archetypes. And the massive powercreep feels terrible. Although for players like Teccy who expect to use suboptimal teams to full clear, but yet don't have good understanding of utilizing MoC buffs/enemy mechanics, kinda makes it seem like a bad take coming from him
This game exist just to display and flex good animations, everything else is so bad from day 1 until now : No control over summons (Jing Yuan LL counts too), ZERO improvements with DoT, elements used to be useful not anymore thanks Acheron, thanks Firefly self implant, thanks Ruan Mei, thanks super break, thanks Res Pen, thanks True Damage, E2S1 became the standard to have the base kit of a unit unlocked > a lot of Eidolons look like traces, in terms of gameplay they lost the scope of the Paths.
That game was never complex it's on the list of the most basic turn based, if you can't clear that's actually a skill issue I skipped the whole break meta I pulled only for Yunli and I still cleared the content, even on my alt where I'm a total tourist l barely play seriously only my Blade is really geared and when there's Wind content in MoC wow he does so well wow in moments where he wasn't recommended at all.
I remember previous content before it turned to complete shit, it was "hard" until I farmed the Eagle set for my supports or until I actually focused all my ressources on 2 dps instead of spreading my ressources here and there, I still have Pela and Tingyun lvl 70 and I still use them both in endgame content.
In HSR I feel more like a monitor rather than actually playing the game, the real game is getting in the gear menu then press auto watch something on the side but it was ALWAYS like that.

Even with a normal break team E0 Firefly can clear True Sting(current MoC) in 1 turn, 3-4 turns worst case scenario if bad relics / skill issue.
Don't know and don't care about 3.1 the next units are not out, showcases only show kits and so far I only saw new units.
I never look too deep into leaks.
And even if break teams dies in 3.1 it's replaced by another gimmick you have nothing to do, it triggers by itself & it ignores armor, add some debuffer that shred armor or a Tribbie that gives All Type Res pen and you can auto again.

bro I just finished penacony and I must say, downfall of March 7th needs to be studied. from one of the brightest and funniest character she became so annoying and agressive for some reason. almost every single enteraction with her ruined quest expirience, she always make jokes, being fun, but when we as MC try to pull some small joke, March always instantly become serious and tries to judge us, telling that is not the time to joke or we just being not mature. what the hell does that even means? this word's coming from March mouth is absolute absurd

Sunday was supposed to DIE. He was the final boss for Penacony and I don't need to explain the story but, I liked how he finally accepts his death and his failures and mistakes and falls from the sky. His sister hugs him one last time before they both hit the ground. All the sudden he apologizes and he is now a good guy...
Firefly was the "damsel in distress" who lied to you but later tells the truth about how she actually has a disease in the real world. But apparently she can just HENSHIN and become a god and she really doesn't need any help at all....
Making Firefly and SAM the same character was a big mistake, you can't change my mind. I will never understand why they made that decision, it'd be better if they were 2 different characters.

I don't always agree with you, but I agree 1000% with everything you've said in this video. The slop has been brutal, that little side arc with the monkey dude was the worst slop I've ever personally seen in a gacha update, the yapping has gotten bonkers, the power creep is real, and how brutally uninteresting the team building is (and FOMO inducing) along with the boring enemy design. I think Aglaea is gorgeous, and was planning to come back just to give her a try, but when I found out how much she relies on Sunday (don't like him, skipped), and benefits from Huohuo (don't like her, skipped), along with how much Eidolon's benefit her. Yeah, not only a skip from me, but a peace out on the game. HYV just really keeps turning me off of their games. I loved Genshin until Sumeru, then quit. Loved HSR until... Maybe early Penacony then slowly peeled back and now am quitting. I love ZZZ still, but how long before they completely ruin that with slop too? I hope they don't, but we'll see. At least WuWa shows promise for keeping the good content coming.
Great video. I agree with your points, save for one. I think Silverwolf was fine with the weakness implant because it created a different play-style with limitations. I think it was with Boothill and (more popularly) with Firefly’s guaranteed weakness implant that the whole mechanic could be ignored without limitations.
Granted, I’ll admit my bias as I pulled Silverwolf initially and built her for break effect, where the goal was to make it so you procced the quantum break for big damage and turn delay. Then, when Acheron came out, I rebuilt her as a 160 speed support. Great character that was worth every one of my 80 tickets.
Don’t forget Fugue, with her E1 basically makes any DPS ignore weakness.
That's great for you as someone who pulled on her when she was meta. But as of right now there is no pull value for her, she doesn't do anything particularly well anymore in comparison to Harmony Supports.
@eragonrank5303 that makes sense - I think the game’s balance really started to go off the rails with guaranteed weakness implants in 2.2 phase 2 to 2.3 - and it looks like Fugue in 2.7 didn’t help course-correct.
@@apilgrim6907 I disagree, without the guaranteed weakness implants, Break as an archetype wouldn't exist at all. However for Crit DPS they have no right to have Weakness Ignore.
However that also doesn't factor in SWs RNG, it should've been something like Implant Weakness in the order of the characters on the lineup or something similar. Not only that but she's too Single Target, in scenarios where even just two enemies are on field she sucks cuz all the debuffs have to be reapplied to a second enemy (much less more)

I'm glad more and more people have become critical of HSR's characters and combat lately. It really did go from a surprisingly deep/complex turn-based combat framework to "pull the overpowered meta teams or perish"
HI3 there have been characters that technically already died before being introduced, specifically Elysian realm (which features some of the fan favorite characters like Elysia herself, never to return). Heck the characters there died twice, once in the past and once with the closing of the realm, which is I feel one of the best moments of the story.
Them bringing said characters back and people expecting tragedy is fairly logical and I do still feel that the places and new characters we are seeing are all already just a memory as the entire planet has been destroyed in the past and its just a memory being suspended in a eternal loop by the aeons (which would explain why Akivili never visited it).
Honestly i used to love playing HSR but the HP over inflation and lack of enemies with unique patterns or mechanics to play around have killed it for me. Not to mention the story builds high risk/stakes then the outcome is sunshine and rainbows and the risks never pan out. ALSO playing my older invested into units in newer content feels like dog shit.

I stopped playing HSR after wuthering waves came out cause i realized how much of a grind that game is just to keep up at least with wuwa i know i can skip a patch and come back to it without feeling like my characters are now underwhelming
took a break from HSR for a patch just to come back and realize the skip button is just too good. Whether or not the story is good, I at least dont have to sit there and spam for 500hrs
And there's a leak about a feature similar to Nikke where you can get those "films" to access past events.

HSR 3.0 just increases the HP bar by a hundred times and claims that’s the only difficulty they can offer. To deal the right amount of damage, you have to pull new characters to E2, which forces you to get additional copies. It's really frustrating. And the fact that they don't include a skip button for stories and side quests I don't care about is incredibly annoying.

I cannot take hsr seriously due to the fact that multiple characters have died but then it turned out to be alive. Next time a character dies, I won't even react to it. It might seriously take me 20 patches to believe it went through as a real thing (assuming I still play)
I stopped playing the story about and hour or two in. I’m gonna be skipping the rest of the version and use the claim for Rememberance MC when that comes out, quick start the rest of the events, and just quick start 4.0 once it releases. Gonna be pulling about three characters this year then pretend like we never went to Amphoreus 😅
Genshin 5.3 EVENT quest had almost the same amount of cutscenes like 3.0 main quest (6:46 min for 5.3 vs 6:55 for 3.0 in cutscenes length time)
We went from "Genshin could never" to "HSR could never". HSR is currently in a worse state than Genshin imo.

Ngl, Penacony was the last arc I enjoyed in hsr. Yes, not without downsides: the whole “Adventurine is alive and you HAVE to be friends with him” really pissed me off, for example. When I’ve learned that next part of the story would be at Space China (c) again, I felt my desire to play shrink drastically, coz the only area I really liked there was the spoopy gost land.

I still remember that video where he "had" to pull eidolons for his team, and my reaction was straight-up: How do you play this bad with a team like that?!
I legit don’t get how you can hold two completely opposite takes at the same time-wanting fights to have strategy but then straight-up ignoring that strategy by not reading or trying to understand the mechanics?
And before anyone jumps in with the usual "powercreep" whining-lemme just say, my last pulled DPS was Firefly, and my only solid team is a Break comp. I don’t have meta DPS like Acheron or Feixiao, and I don’t have Aventurine or Robin either, yet I still clear all content with full stars just fine.

@@Male_Ficent Usually, it's Dan Heng IL, Jingliu, or Clara depending on the enemy's weakness, along with Sparkle, Bronya (I swapped her for Sunday), Asta, Tingyun or March 7 Hunt, and some sustain. Also, Himeko and doll Herta for pure fiction.
He's a casual, so for him it's "hard" to clear without meta dps or eidolons. It's just a skill issue, I have some friends that just clear this "powercreep-leaning" content by the DoT or even Seele (e0s0) xd. Also, investing in relics or team comp to deal tons of damage may be a lil bit hard for a person who only thinks about boobs or gyats.
I have this same feeling. I played on launch and when IL Dan Heng came out I mained him, and still have him as my current main team because I love it (for reference I have his sig, and he is E0) I recently had to finally get a replacement (The Herta) because I couldn't complete content within a reasonable cycle with him anymore. (Example: That big sunday fight before it changed, I completed with around 500 points remaining.) While my Feixiao completed hers with 1700ish left. I've tried getting him as stacked as much as I can without getting any copies, but it feels impossible with him. I have the relics, and his best team, yet it doesn't do enough anymore. When Sparkle came out he was honestly only good for an extra patch, and then felt garbage afterwards.
Belobog wasn’t even 10 hours long or full of yapping . Now that I actually compare it to the 3.0 story I can see a big difference , and it’s disappointing tbh i hope they fix whatever is going on with hsr
That's why some of us stay strong for Nikke! They really cook in their story progression than other gacha games out there.
I've found that the combat is very enjoyable, but I am both a vertical investor and a 0 cycler. I skip a lot of banners to get strong dupes, and I use those dupes to further optimize the teams I focus on. I also optimize relics continually to to go even beyond 0 cycling to clear even sooner, and that is satisfying for me. Like, in the second fight of Apoc 4, I figured out a way to get to 3960 against Phantylia with my Feixiao team after a lot of fight exploration and gear adjustments. But, this isn't a way of playing that is appealing to everyone and it is rather subjective at the end of the day.
As for the story, it certainly was frustrating that a lot of the voices in English weren't there. I really hope they fix that issue. I also think a lot of thing they talk about should be animated. I think if the visuals and animations were turned up, that it would go a long way because I genuinely like the story a lot. For me it's like a 9~10 / 10 story but a 5ish / 10 presentation. I still do enjoy the story overall as I also enjoy VNs which also often don't have many animations. But, I think for the kind of game HSR is, they should put more effort into that part of it. A great example is they fade to black and say Tribbie uses the century door, which is supposed to be this big thing she does to teleport around the world that even drains her lifeforce or something akin to that, when it would have been so much cooler if the animated her creating it and us stepping through it and the strain it causes to generate it expressed subtly from Tribbie. There are a number of things like this that they should spare the budget for to put into the story. In other words, they should be willing to reinvest more of their profits back into the product rather than trying to get by with the minimum.
i dont quite understand how people played literally 10 horus of story when bny 10 hours in i had already 100 percented multiple areas in amph and had c6 harmony trailblazer while still speed reading but i really do wish they would follow through on killing people

The only character I was invested in the game was Yanqing. Bro is maturing, I'm happy that the general is raising him up to be a good leader.
The thing about the writer from hi3 is that they got the guy that wrote literally the longest part of the game. I love hi3 story. I think it has one of the best gacha stories, but it is definitely a yap fest. Everyone loves that Elysia part of the game but it is literally just yap yap yap yap yap. Not only that, the whole game is visual novel style, which is why I think the hsr 3.0 story was presented in the way it was.
I'm hoping that ZZZ doesn't shy away from killing playable characters like Star Rail, its one of the few complaints I have with the game. Like Harumasa better die in the next year or so, considering what he says at the end of his agent story. I recently started Nikke, and when they execute that one nikke near the beginning of the story I actually felt something.

@@forcodingg1287 Haven't played PGR so I looked it up and apparently(spoilers) :
PGR does have a couple chapters with a lot of playable character deaths, but it's usually simulation of the future or alternative future so it's not permanent like with Himeko in HI3rd. I don't expect Kuro to go to that very extreme of offing a playable character permanently. Most they'd do is probably having important NPCs die the most gruesome death (PGR veterans who played through Survival Lucem know what I'm talking about).

23:15 is true, if you don’t have her premium team or if you only have 1 of the 2 batteries (Sunday huo2) she’s gonna feel clunky as all hell and you need e1 at that point, and even on her best team it’ll still feel iffy
I'm currently filtered by the story boss because I realized the big Nikador boss fight was a DPS check -- and I don't have the DPS. Pissed me off so bad when I realized it's a DPS/gear check with no real thoughtful mechanics.
Makes me glad that GFL2 is so fun right now, I'm playing way more of that right now.
OKay here are the problems i have in Hsr for people that are interested
- Too much yapping and it doesnt seem like hsr wants to change it
- More greedy, because they make E1 and sig Lc so powerful that they make you want to pull for it
- Giving you the new item for substats, but also locking it behind a paywall and it doesnt look like we are getting it for free often enough.
- The relic system is still Ass. You farm a relic set for Months and then fall behind when you want to build another character

Hsr looka more and more like just a company and not like passionate devs who actually listens anymore. The Qol changes arent enough, the game has to progress in some way or it will get even worse. But from the pov of Hsr, i dont think they need to change it, because most player just eat everything up and Hsr gets away with it. Sadly enough that is how companies operates... if they get away with it they wont bother. In the end it is the players fault for beeing not vocal enough. I wish the chinese community would give hoyo a harder time, only then would they change, but that is so cope...
All Relic Systems are ass, HSR is midly better with SMR and now Wishful, it's annoying that they cap it at 5 but better than having none.

The game being incredibly successful is a curse in the long run... Making genshin-level revenue made them lazy and complacent. If it had remained niche and not as popular as genshin I think the game would just be fine and better than it is currently.
I really hope that ZZZ would really remain niche and small so the devs can really treat is as a passion project instead of a cash cow like genshin or hsr.
For me personally, as someone who's only spent money on the HSR welkin, i havent seen the need to pull for eidolons, let alone E2. I agree that yes those eidolons give an insane upgrade, but not to the point where it just sucks ass if i keep them at E0. All my 5 limited 5 stars at E0, and the only ones with s1 are acheron's and the herta's. I pulled for these two not because there wasnt an alternative, buy solely because i just liked the characters and simce i won the 50/50 for the character banner, i had jades to spare for the lightcone banner. So far ive not really had a problem getting the max score on all endgame modes. I agree with everything else though, especially the lack of danger part. There's not really any shock value, and it boils down to "if this character is playable, they're gonna be fine". EVEN during the aglaea interrogation i could not take it seriously, hell even the trailblazer has the option to still play around with certain dialogue options.

The problem with HSR is that their gacha system doesn't really fit the turn based system really well. Other turn based games release plenty of characters constantly and the standard poll has plenty of featured characters in it. Character gimmick like posion builds, stun team, turtle defense team has a lot of characters that can fit them and most characters can fit multiple gimmick teams. Because of these, you can play around enemies weaknesses and enemies gimmicks with plenty of different comps and gimmick teams. For example FGO, tho we have units like Castoria there who is one of the most op support in the game you really can't bring her in all of the story quest bosses because some gimmick doesn't fit well with buffers and shielders (bosses that can erase buffs and poison theme bosses) so you need to adapt and change the team. In HSR you really don't have a choice because the units on certain gimmicks can be counted with your hands. You can't play around weaknesses because units are tied to their gimmicks. You can't mix and match because they are useless without their gimmicks being utilised.
That's true, but meta changes quite fast nowadays. Ur just pulling for 1-2 dpses that you enjoy in terms of character/design/lore, and then for their BiS supports, and that's pretty much it. Also, you actually can put ur older dpses into a newer teamcomps to enjoy them in today's meta, so that's not a big of a deal.
Nah, the ting is that there's no skill in hsr, just big numbers, the gameplay of hsr just say: you need strong characters and that's it, there are so much turn based games that you need skill
I still do well since early patch, since i still use seele and early patch team to clear endgame mode. I built team with dps for each weakness element and do well with endgame mechanic, still struggle with relic but they added relic sub choice so it kinda nice of them. But yeah i kinda agree that old chara get really hard for new enemies because the enemies get stronger but old chara still the same.
Shaoji doesn't just work on the story chapters, he works on the whole Honkai, but the problem is that starting with HSR his storylines... Very meh... Elysian Realm remains his best arc, everything after it is done very poorly

You hi3 fanboys are exaggerating just to make your favorite shit game look good, only Himeko is the playable char that really died and has impactful death. Flame chasers already died and they are just like hologram so who give a fuck if they "died" again. Elysian realm also sucks but hi3 fan base has low standard thats why they think its good. That shit has a bunch of yap as well. Otto death is also not playable char and its expected that he's gonna die since he's a villain.
The other chars you mentioned also doesn't have meaningful death like they are from the past who cares. Its like including playable char's grandpa death story or something 😂
I agree with Tectone here, I was invested in the story in the story with Belobog in fact it's still my favorite story from HSR, I was invested in Xianzhou Luofu and I was less invested but still very much invested in Penacony.
After that they returned to the Xianzhou Luofu but the story did not feel as good to me as it was before, i was without internet for 3 months by the way, finished that story and now I'm back at Penacony in Rappa story and I don't feel like finishing it,because Rappa story is childish with those monkeys and painful to read, so I just want this story to end but I don't want to play this story till the end, and idk if i should force myself to reach the end of it or to give up of HSR,because to be honest Rappa story is being painful for me to read
I feel like most of what he said in the video was (partially) delusion from the early game. Back then you NEEDED to play around the bosses mechanics because you didn't have the gear/units to ignore it. Now we can just basically brute force anything
I made a long reply nobody will read I'm sure, but yeah I basically said this, and I don't even think Hoyo is at fault for that. The players themselves cry and moan if they take more than 2 cycles to clear content that it takes too long, and then they wonder why the content is not fufilling because HTF can you have complicated mechanics if you have to cram it all in 1 cycle.

For starters.... Death for death's sake... is dumb. Death AS the 'ONLY' stakes is a mental fallacy put into people by the Game of Thrones era... stop expecting everyone to die in storytelling. It's not helping you consume stories properly. Characters only need to die in stories when their death does something for the story or aids in perusing the themes the story is trying to explore. Death itself is not 'stakes' and the conflation that death MUST be occurring all the time to push the stakes of stories has been a growing cancer amongst the consumer base of pretty much every medium for a few years now.
Furthermore... did anyone actually CARE about Cocolia? I think Tectone may be imaginin a connection there that didn't even exist in 1.0. She was the villain right out the gate. I don't know that it isn't somewhat revisionism to say 'Cocolia died in 1.0 thus there were stakes'... she was never a playable character, she was never a character that made connections with the MC's... she had a pre-established connection with Bronya yes... but she still counts as a character that's essentially unconnected to the player.
As for where a death in HSR could actually add to the story... I know people keep harping on about Himeko, but that's mostly PURELY nostalgia stakes expectation and not one based on any good rational. There's no particularly GOOD reason to kill Himeko in Star Rail as yet... Realistically, I think the only death that would feel all that significant to the Trailblazer in particular is Kafka. She's the character with the closest thing to a history and special personal connection.
AS for 3.0... I think it's awful early to be pondering what stakes there may or may not be... Chapter 1 isn't really the place you slap an impactful death or sacrifice.

the problem is TY and Aventurine weren't fakeout deaths, the story very clearly explained that neither of them died (the first was just missing and the latter was just trying to enter the 2nd level of the dream), I don't know how anyone in the community believed that they were dead when even the characters in the story didn't

One thing about the HP inflation is that the current MOC is designed for you to kill the trotters, that will do massive damage to the bosses. I think it will be better for the next one. Also I do think the "No stakes" argument isnt just about star rail but pretty much every major gacha.
I actually enjoy the current story but I also wish they showed it more. For example they could have explained the Gods of amphoreus just like WUWA explained the elf girl in Rinascita. Live 2D art with some music as if telling a tale. I think that wouldve fit perfectly but instead they made a joke out of the fact that they cant explain it properly?
I also dont get why they didnt do another Simulated universe expansion or something like that for people to play around with? Hell they couldve easily set up a "Training dream" in that one dimension for the flame chasers where you could have cool combat modes. We've got new characters but no game mode to use them in. There is literally nothing to do
That's the one thing about FGO that's better than most gacha games. There feels like there are stakes, and characters actually die. They have a good explanation for why you can still summon for characters that die.

There is one thing I'll agree wholeheartadly here and that's that basically most Gacha games, even non-Hoyo ones, don't kill of playable characters 99% of the time in a way that makes it stick/makes it feel like an actual death. There are either bait-death('s) or close-to-death-but-not-a-death('s).
Hoyoverse has Honkai Impact 3rd with one significant death waaaay back when Himeko died (and to an extent the Flamechasers but they were already dead), and since then none of the playable characters were killed off permenantly (Before anyone mentions Coralie, you can bet your ass she's coming back at some point).
While Kuro has Punishing Gray Raven with one Identity Death of Lucia and that's it, any playable character from then on has either been baited or almost killed but they recovered (There's one upcoming patch this year where basically a lot of bad shit happens, and the patch immedietly after fixes literaly all of it).
(Mind you, I do believe that they should take risks, as that is one of my biggest gripes with gacha games in general. But since CN has kind of a gorrila grip on what happens in gacha games, it's unlikely to happen)

I agree with you, I love this game and I still believe in it and that there will be improvements soon... but yes, I feel like if we don't complain and actually provide feedback to the game this will go down the same path as Genshin.

I'm hardcore invested into HSR but his complaints about the follow up team or super break team trivializing everything are valid. Some of the units/archetypes available to us are just too strong, making the endgame trivial, even if enemy mechanics are more complex than they've ever been.

I’m a casual F2P player and I heavily invested in DoT teams back in the day… my account hasn’t recovered since. It feels like I’ve been left out and the only way back in is to whale on new banners. i agree with this, there is other turn base gacha game which handle difficulties in powercreeping boss fine other than having only bigger hp pool, they actually have some mechanic you need to do and understand in order to clear the boss. not just like i have character a and b and boom i could clear this boss full auto.
this state is so sad because i really like the game
miyoho is doing a lot of "We're going to make the new cycle match the new unit's kit so we can incentivise people to pull them to not suck at this week's PF/MOC/etc"
plus also they really did screw shit up with units that force weakness on enemies like firefly and fugue. you know what we get in return for that? New mechanics for future bosses that go "no, i have a mechanic that completely stops your damage unless you clear my mechanic.... that the new banner unit clears because we designed it that way, so go pull the new unit"
the issue is they keep forcing specific playstyles , and anyone not fortunate enough to have the units will suffer for, and that gets real boring, real fast.
they're kinda doing this a bit in ZZZ too with deadly assault. U got the right units to fill these criteria? no? aw too bad, enjoy your 1 star, or even no star. This week's defense too, with bosses having one electro weakness boss on each round from like stage 4-7. they really want people to play harumasa.

I quit the game back then and have no regrets listening to the people that still play this yapfest of a game
I like the game but i struggle with that either im not strong enough or i instantly win everything. I can spend 30 hours grinding pulls just to get a standard character and then i cant do anything in the game for another month because i didnt spend money and i was unlucky this time
