Hi. Once you've sewn the tape onto the armhole and turned it to the wrong side, try hand stitching the binding to the fabric to get a neater finish and the hand stitching will move with the stretch. The length of the bias tape is determined by the armhole size plus 2.5cm's.

I have to finish off a neckline using this method, and your's is the first video I've found that shows exactly how to do it with bias binding. Thank you so much.

The trimming they ask is to simply remove bulk from the seam. I'd be looking to trim away about half of the seam. Hope that helps.

thank you for taking the confusion out of bias binding. Sometimes I think I've got it, then I see a different way of doing it and I get all confused again. I now feel confident to try again. Thank you.

Cut on the bias means cut on the stretchy part of the fabric, usually on the diagonal, around 45 degrees. I'll arrange to film a tutorial adding bias binding to a V neck shortly. Thanks.

The bias binding can be of different widths (it's all about personal choice and your sewing project) but the length of the binding will be the measurement of the armhole. Hope that answers your question.

Very helpful tutorial. Would understitching the bias binding, e.g., as is done for facings, before the last step help everything to lay flat and avoid any chance of the binding showing on the right side of the garment? Hope I've worded this to make sense. Many thanks.

Thank you for this video, it's just what I needed! If you have time to answer, my pattern asks me to cut an armhole facing from my fabric and then press it after folding it along a roll line. Then it says, "Pin facing to armhole edge. Stich. Trim. UNDERSTITCH facing." I didn't notice you trimming anything, so I'm just wondering how much they expect me to trim and what the purpose is for this trimming. Perhaps I could skip the trimming? The rest of it I get, thanks to your videos!
