Nelson must be one of the most innovative guitarists in jazz right now. He has married a classical style right hand technique with phenomenal harmonic understanding, rhythmic complexity and contemporary jazz phrasing. I saw him play in a duo with Jonathan Kreisberg last year (2018) in Oxford U.K. and they were both outstanding. If you enjoy this video, check out the CD that Nelson and Kreisberg released recently.
Veras really is a true creator. It’s amazing watching him play. It’s like he’s changing how jazz is phrased with every note, but he almost doesn’t notice, he just plays. It’s mind-blowing.
hey gildas i am just starting upright bass coming from many years of guitar playing- just wondering if you have any suggestions for how to develop and tone and time like yours haha
Hi thanks for the compliment!, in my opinion for the double bass, the left hand is the key, it needs to be very strong, there is a some good advice on YT but a lot of bad ones too....
Wow, there may only be a few million guitarists out there who cannot get a job in music to save their lives who undoubtedly can conceive, execute, and live at this level of artistry or even higher, you lucky first world privileged bastards :)
Beautiful
so brilliant, what a duo!
The bare essentials, pure, uncluttered, perfect time - just magic!
