Thank you! I have been tearing my hair out trying to understand the 'custom' error bar option.

I know how you feel. It took me a while and I made this tutorial to help solidify it for myself too ;)

THANK YOU! Doing a massive report for uni and I had tried everything to get a graph like this and all the other tutorials were for earlier versions of excel...

Hi Peter and thanks for the video! I am just concerned you might have made a little mistake: standard deviation should be centered around the mean value. By putting it as plus and minus value you are probably doubling the error bar in the graph, are you not? Shouldn't we be dividing the values of stdev by two before putting them in as positive and negative?

Hi, I understand how to do all of this part, but do you know how to get the error bars to not overlap so they show up as individual error bars?

Sorry for missing this comment. The only thing I might suggest is to color the error bars to match each line and make the 'back' layer quite thick... and the top layer the thinnest. This might allow you to see the overlap more distinctly. If others have a better idea, please share.

hi i have three standard tables, each one has a two variables (time vs concentration), and i have another three tables for experimental results and have as well to variables (time vs concentration). i want to find the error bar for the standard and experimental table separately, and then for both tables later. the problem is all the tables have different amount of time (table one has four 3 hours, table two has 5 hours and so on) what is the proper method to solve this issue.
    thank you

Didn't know about the sigfig change. Nice. Thanks. Good job.
See, custom error bars for me seem to work only if one line of data is on the graph. If it's more than one, utterly cancerous, stupid BS happens. Most of the bars don't show up but the ones that do are completely off. No idea what I, or Excel, doing wrong.
