STARTED OVER AT 48 YRS OLD | SmashweRx | The Unbreakable AF Podcast E002
At 48 years old, I had to start everything over. Training, business, even my marriage in a way, because I’d just spent 8 weeks in and out of ICU and then recovery after they removed a 20 cm mass from my chest and removed my left lung along with it.
I came home feeling things I hadn’t felt in decades.
I was weak, frustrated, I’d wake up with anxiety, I worried about things I never even thought of before.
We walked into our house, I hugged and kissed our kids and my wife asked “What do you want to do babe?”
“I want to workout.”
“Ok babe, what can you do, how can I help you?” She said.
All I could do was walk. I had 6 giant incisions in my chest.
I dropped a 45 pound plate on our weight sled, hooked up a 25 foot strap, put on my weight belt and looped the strap though, and said “come get me when I collapse.”
And I started walking circles around our driveway.
Our driveway is about a 400 m circle, and I kept walking and walking, talking to God and visualizing everything I wanted my life to look like.
And when I collapsed, my wife came to get me and walk me into the house.
That was the first day.
I haven’t missed a day since.

It's all about value. What do you value? I value spending time with my child and family and not hyper focused on money. We need money to meet our basic living needs. You can only decide what means most to you. Sacrifice and focus will get you were you want to go. Roadbumps will happen. Sometimes success works faster then others but it's all the end result of the same recipe. Good luck everyone

I've had 2 labrum repairs in both shoulders and need a 3rd. I have patellar tendonesis in both knees I've had an acl repair, meniscus repair, and currently and fighting neuropathy in both legs and feet from a back injury. I had to give up my job, sell my house, and move in with my parents. Good shit my friend.
i got diagnosed with bladder cancer in janurary and had it all removed. Im in a similar spot right now. BUILD BACK BETTER BABY

You are a Great motivation for me Bro ; I am 63 and live with enough physical pain, to Kill most people, No F. Joke, born with muscular Dystrophy, that destroy Nerve tissue and causes nerve muscle pain, then had surgery for that as a kid and doctors Screwed me up ! Then at 26 got runed over while riding my bike by a truck !! About 9 years later happened again! This time literally almost killed me ! And tor my AZZ all apart .. And always had Doctor's telling me ( you can't do that anymore ) And I kept telling them to Shut up and get out of my way !! And yes brother you're life is Exactly what you decide to make of it . Glad you are on the mend. Btw have you tried HMB (hydroxy methylbutyrate)? i think it was Huberman who turned me onto it...but apparently it can help with muscle atrophy when you are laid up. I'm gonna get some PRT treatment pretty soon so gotta get though a few weeks of bed-rest. Anyway thanks for the inspiring video---i pulled some hard truths out of that rant
