does mind muscle connection deteriorate faster with disuses compared to muscle atrophy

That's a great question, @badabing3391! I am honestly not sure which would deteriorate faster. I did find one paper that concluded that after immobilizing the knee joint in participants for 2 weeks, they saw a greater decline in muscle quality compared to muscle size. I believe when they mean muscle quality, they're talking about the number of contractile units within the muscle tissue itself. I think this could, theoretically, be correlated to a decline in the mind-muscle connection. If there are less contractile units, then there are less opportunities for the brain to direct a contraction. So perhaps one could take away from this paper that the mind muscle connection deteriorates faster than muscle atrophy. But this is also one study and it could be a stretch to assume that the mind-muscle connection is what they're measuring. Here's the link to this paper in case you wanted to read it: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6964688/
Thanks again for that great question!
