Although I'd love to be a cheap ass and use a competitors low price products, I can tell where good money is spent. After watching many of your videos, I can tell you're a very bright man, and with that, where my money would be well spent. Keep it up! I have two OM617 engines on my side yard that are about to be cleaned up for a donor willy's.
Unlike some of videos on UA-cam, I don't have to fast forward to the pertinent information because all of your content is pertinent. Your videos are not bogged down with a bunch of irrelevant BS. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Now that I've been watching a TON of UA-cam lately, I know exactly what you're talking about with people either not editing unnecessary stuff out (like - oh hey just wait 30 seconds while i go grab a wrench), or just adding in lots of irrelevant ramblings.
Once again, awesome content and the parts quality is amazing. I’m glad you made this, now I won’t be winging it to install it lol. I would very much like an adapter for a downpipe please!!!!!!!!
I deleted my factory air filter in exchange for a spectre air filter and it helped a bunch. I have been wondering about turbo rebuild kit, or turbo. I appreciate all your videos. I'm driving a 1983 stock 300D, which I feel performs better than what they say is 120 horsepower. I really like the sound of being able to gain another hundred horsepower out of the injector pump tune. Thanks again.
I think I am going to buy the 7cm kit for my 300sd. I will probably run it with a hood stack like my 300d. I really appreciate these videos, and your products look very well made and thought out. I'll do videos on for sure if i end up ordering your parts.
I've got a customer running my 7cm² on his W126 who does over 90 miles per day doing 80mph avg speed, and claims he picked up 4mpg with this turbo upgrade. Take that for what it's worth.
I am planning to put a OM617 in my 1972 Mercedes W115. Questions: 1) How would I add an intercooler 2) Are the parts shown in the video still available?
I'm not sure about the air cleaner or downpipe but if they're the same as the W123 or W126, then it should work the same. We don't have those wagons here, so the only one's I've seen have been custom swapped with a 617.
Happy to see some good solutions for the om617. I’m interested in the exhaust adapter as well (w116/w123). Do you expect to release that version of the kit? Seems like a truly well thought out solution, and certainly more than worth the cost given the time and effort that goes into developing something like this.
@@doomsdaydiesel oh man that sucks! Well I’m interested in a kit whenever you have one available. I’ll send you a message via your website with my contact info. Thanks!
I have the same turbo. With the manifold off the truck, that turbo will sit directly on the exhaust manifold. What is the purpose of this adapter? Is there a clearance issue I’m about to run into with the down pipe or something?
Also, it’s an om617. Seen some subtle differences. The manifold never had an egr on the intake or exhaust from what I can tell. Nobody can invisa weld a delete. All I’m noticing the bracket do it space the turbo out from the block and push it forward as far as my manifold. Is this action needed? No problems cutting exhaust and reworking it.
Amazing information!! I have an OM617 in my 86 Comanche and I feel it’s underpowered. Does this upgraded turbo with the stock pump or would a bigger pump be needed? I’m planning on upgrading both but if you recommend just the turbo I’ll roll with that. Also, what all are all of the kits you have used in this video? Is it all one kit or did you use separate kits
You sure know your stuff on the om617..I'm mid conversion on isuzu rodeo 5 speed and haven't figured out the details yet. Wish i knew about you before i started but wouldlove to talk to you to see what you offer that i could use to save some trouble. What's the best way to reach you? Can this turbo set up be bolted to a 79 non turbo 300d?
I am doing a jeep, and I have to thank you again for your work on this, love what you are doing and your quality! A question I have, you said this is the best turbo for the buck, and you have done a lot of testing, does this still hold true if you upgrade the pump to the Benz folks you linked? My parts list is growing! I want the holset turbo and the upgraded pump, if I understand what I am seeing.
If you send your pump to Dieselmeken for the 7.5mm upgrade (which is where I recommend you send yours), you'll want to run the 7cm² turbo I offer to utilize all that extra fuel and keep things cool.

There are some good write-ups out there. You have to find an oil feed source. Find a location to drain the oil. And then just buy some OM617a (turbo) manifolds.
The turbo engines had upgraded internal parts, like different pistons and oil squirters in the block shooting under the pistons for cooling. Perhaps the connecting rods differed. That is typical for all turbo engines. If you add a turbo, stay mild on the boost or you may melt pistons.
@@balduregilsson4893 Are you sure? When you pressurize the incoming air, its temperature rises. That is why some turbo-charged cars have an intercooler to mitigate the compression heating.

The "inline" spectre filter? It doesn't even flow as much air as a stock OM617 requires

When can we expect a compound turbo setup for people living at high altitudes?
🤐
So, more efficient is generally not synonymous with spools quicker, so is there hard data on mpg/power increase?

You don't need an IC. I still offer a Bolton solution
This is awesome, I wanted to find out if this could be direct bolt on in w126 300sd. Or will there need to be modification
Wouldn't putting a heat shield around the oil line be a good idea?
The operating temp of the engine oil is around 230° to give it its optimum viscosity, so I doubt it. The factory didn't have one for it.
