    Good idea once backbone is centered is to mark the floor where the centre of where backbone lies, that way next time you set up you’ll know where to put it.

    Hello! I just bought a backbone for my Advanced Frame Sport but haven’t tried it yet. I am small (105 lbs). Would you recommend leaving the backbone out for kayaking in moving, sometimes shallow and rocky-bottomed rivers to prevent possible punctures/damage to the bottom of the boat? Thanks!

      Hi Tina, thank you for your comment. Have a look at this Backbone Guidelines for Usage PDF which provides great detail. www.advancedelementskayaks.co.uk/site/assets/files/1466/backbone-inst.pdf
      If you do still have any other questions however; please don't hesitate to get in touch! Thanks, Jessica

    How about reshooting with talky technology and show a diagram even?
    I think this video lacks clarity about the exact location of the Backbone fins against the inside of the inflated tubes. this location leaves the backbone short of contacting the metal frame that stiffer the bow. It seems to me Odd not to add 6" length or so to each end of of backbone to contact the aluminum frame.

      Hi Michael, I can assure you that Advanced Elements are AMAZING when it comes to design, and that goes for the Backbone too. If they want the backbone to press against the inner tube rather than go under the inner tube to the aluminium rib, there will be a good reason for it. Cheers, Emily.

    Thanks for the excellent video on the backbone. I am looking at an advanced elements 1012 model. It looks like this will allow the boat to maintain its low center of gravity in the water as opposed to a dropstitch floor which would raise the boat up on top of the water. Does that sound accurate?

      Hi, this video (which I will link) explains the difference quite well, but the drop stitch will give you buoyancy and rigidity, where as the backbone will give you rigidity etc. ua-cam.com/video/N8mPH41Chnw/v-deo.html&t

    I have the drop stich floor for this kayak which wasnt cheap, would this backbone assist further with the kayak tracking/stability? would it fit with the drop stich floor or would I need to go back to the original floor? thanks :)

      Hi Steve, the Backbone and the drop-stitch floor are not compatible together, if you got the Backbone you would have to go back to using the soft floor. But you shouldn't be having trouble with tracking with the drop-stitch floor in the kayak, is it veering? Emily.

    Hi! On AE website, I noticed that the backbone itself is significantly shorter than the kayak. For example, AE-1007 is 15 foot long and its backbone is 126" (around 10.5 feet). Is that how the backbone is designed to be?

    • @OzinflatablekayaksAu
      @OzinflatablekayaksAu  4 роки тому

      Yes, that's correct. The backbone pushes up against the inside of the inner tube, not against the hull of the kayak. So the 126" effectively represents the length inside the cockpit, not the length of the kayak, if that makes sense. Cheers, Emily.

      @@OzinflatablekayaksAu Your videos are just awesome. I am curious why someone couldnt just find a metal pole the correct length and cover it in foam to replicate the backbone?

    • @OzinflatablekayaksAu
      @OzinflatablekayaksAu  3 роки тому

      @@maybebabyny You would need to replicate the paddles at either end that brace against the inner tube - that is required to keep the backbone inline, and to stop it pushing on the hull directly. Cheers, Emily.
