Is the thumb slap a light touch? By the way, sounds really good, very relaxed. What do you do about a set up, is that something a bass player can do on their own?
You can alter the touch with the thumb. It’s quite light - for me - most of the time. Search for the Fodera and/or Sadowsky set up videos on UA-cam. They’re great!

There are lots of good setup videos on youtube. Roger Sadowsky has a good one to start with, just 15 min long, very comprehensible.
