The worker bee people in SP vs chill laid back people in Rio reminds me of my experience in Japan. Tokyo is super work oriented, while Osaka was so chill down to Earth laid back. Everything from the fashion, personalities, not being uppity etc. I prefer the laid back environment overall, even though Tokyo had it's special perks.

both are good, but generally Sao Paulo is better to live in, there are more options of things to do, things are of better quality, public transport... and Rio to stay for a few days, I enjoyed the beaches, the parties...!!
And yes, Rio is very hot, even in winter, it's uncomfortable... in Sao Paulo in winter it can reach 8 degrees, or even less!

@@illestcatnnebraska7331 Not much, there are days when the air is great, and there are days when the air is bad... but it never reaches the worst level of pollution; it's always either great or decent... just like other cities here in Brazil, such as Rio de Janeiro.

Good video -- like your perspective on the two cities. I have been to Rio de Janeiro twice; but, it's been about 4 years. I visited São Paulo this May for 2.5 weeks and positively LOVED it. I really like Rio too; but, I prefer São Paulo. I went there thinking it would be NYC like Rio is Miami.....I think a more accurate description is that São Paulo is a mashup of NYC and LA. I say LA because this city is really spread out and densely packed like LA. NYC because it is the finance/art hub of Brazil.
I was surprised that there were no real skyscrapers in Säo Paulo like there are in cities like Dallas, Houston, Chicago and, of course, NYC. I think the buildings top out at 40 stories down in Morumbi.....and in the ore central region of São Paulo 30 floors or so. My place in Pinheiros was 27 floors.
You're spot-on about the museum aspect -- São Paulo is like NYC/LA in this respect. There are MANY really good, diverse museums here. I didn't even come close to being able to see all of them in my trip. Also, you're spot-on about the food. The food here is on-par with Mexico City DF for quality, choices and sheer numbers.
I will be returning to São Paulo for a 3.5 week visit in November and early December. Looking forward to going down to Santos, seeing more museums & parks, trying more of the wonderful restaurants as well as watching the World Cup Group Stage matches with my Brazilian friends.

Dope video. Very informative. I'm beginning my DN journey Q1 2023 and def wanna spend 1-2 mos in Brazil. After watching your comparisons, I'm really torn.. I want beaches, laid back folk, fun energy, but I also like the idea of having an English-speaking network to tap into and also better infrastructure & amenities. Also feel dating is probably more straight forward in SP... less pros & hustlers I imagine.

Interesting you video, but you simplify enormously the problem of violence in Rio. Just see the data, it is more important than what you felt personally! You have to have the real picture of a city and not just the small expereience you had! Do you know that in 2021 Rio had 300% more murders than São Paulo? Narco-traffic is enormous in Rio and it controls several areas of the city!

In SP people work hard and party harder. If you love the nightlife, you will party from 12am to 12pm the next day. If you don't like nightclubs, Rio is better. Besides, you must know where to go in SP. The city has amazing hidden gems. Also, SP is more cultural and artsy. That said, Rio's beaches are unbeatable.

Quanto a noite.
