My old cadet instructor was in the Royal Engineers in the 80s and 90s
Funny to think he almost certainly saw this video as an 18-year old sapper

I was on this lob at the beginning. It was Hankley common that we jumped on 😊😊

Hope people appreciate how brave and skilled that Frog crew were actually taking it into the water 😂 And the fact they got it from the barracks to any destination more than 200 meters from the camp gates without breaking down shows their superior servicing skills.

Love seeing the enthusiasm of these soldiers and reading the memories of you guys. I’m proud of you all. Shame about our politicians though

The Royal Engineers and the "Loggies" are the unsung heroes in the British Army and any other army as well really.

Nice video. Looks like prototype sa80 rifles are being used. Very cool.

Well spotted, XL60 prototype rifles before they clunged them up into the XL70 and SA80.

Mate, I wouldn't call the A1 "cool" at all, far from it in fact. The concept was good but I absolutely hated it as it was a piece of junk compared to it's predecessor, and my own personal favourite, the L1-A1 SLR.
I understand the need for a change as the SLR first came into service decades before but I think it was rushed into service without ironing out the issues.
My Dad did his national service in 1962 and the SLR was in service then so the fact that I started my career with it in 1989 tells you that it was old....... the only difference was that the furniture on my Dad's SLR was wooden and mine was made of horrible plastic.

Aaagggghhhhhhh......... those lovely 432-s, which are technically still in use today as Bulldogs. That's a service life of 60 effing years!!!!!!!!!
What also made me laugh was the bloke shouting orders to the lads on getting that bridge built was sporting the absolutely horrific Sterling SMG, which had about as much stopping power as a grape. I most certainly would not have wanted to engage anyone further away than 20 feet due to fear of watching the target keep walking towards me even though I'd emptied a full magazine into it

A great idea but lousy engineering.

11:20 The order was given and half a second later the soldier is already cutting through the tree. That's what you call obeying orders quickly

how much of that engineering kit would be available today? I know little about this sort of stuff, I know the Harriers have gone, difficult to imagine the F-35's going anywhere near any grass.

I was in 10 Sqn RE (Harrier support.) at this time. Yes, they issued out the proposed new kit. Helmets, boots, and the prototype SA80. But only for the filming. It was then all collected back in. Back to DMS boots and puttees, steel helmets and SLR's , SMG's and LMG's. Good times in Gütersloh. Westfalia, West Germany.

oh yeah, at the same time for the other side, someone will claim Donetsk and Luhansk were created by themselves, Crimea was chosen and claimed to be part of Russia, while Little Green has already infiltrated someone's land and taken over, as for some people who don't know or unwilling to know. even always believe Russia is a democratic nation, ha, jokes, I don't help Ukraine & Western but hell with your Russia and Shina either.
