Comparing The Beatles and Michael Jackson is like apples and oranges. Both were fantastic in their own way, but vastly different artists. I could argue The Beatles were better because they didn’t lip sync at concerts, which Michael became notorious for later in his career.

@DeVante Cooley I mean with singing you only get about 15-20 years of high quality vocals. He had been singing since he was 5 so I don’t really think there’s much he could do against the natural deterioration of vocal cords. Even then his main reason for lip syncing was just not being able to sing and dance at the same time due to age and overall poor health.

Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse, then rehearse some more. By the time this tour was over they probably did the same routine more than 600 times. 60 cities, 120 dress rehearsals, countless steps, countless hours. This stuff is absolutely second nature. the barometer for how mj was feeling energy wise in this era to me always seemed the way he interpreted the love you save. he totally reconstructs the melody here to avoid the high notes. its crazy it took them as long as it did to pitch it down a few semitones which they did by the victory tour.
