These guys appear to be splicing a 12 pair 22 wire gauge cable. Technically their instructor would never pass a Bell System Splicing School. You're not supposed to "twist" the wires together, you're supposed to "spin" the wires together. You're supposed to prepare the cable ends and put the bond clamps on "before" you splice the wires. And you're not supposed to cover the bonds with sealing tape. Also not a good idea to straight splice new wires without slack. In this application they had plenty of room to build slack, by splicing longer wires, into the splice. This way if someone has to come back and rework the splice they'll have enough existing wire to work with. I'd give these guys a C+
None of those involved in the video have any idea how a cable is prepared. Even the tools used are not right and are used incorrectly. They are bloody amateurs. Something like that would have been beaten from our farm.
