  • Electric cars are now mainstream but electric boats have been lagging behind... until now.
    The engineers at the New Zealand firm ZeroJet have spent the last eight years perfecting their electric jet motor and this is the result: a high performance, jet propulsion system which runs entirely on batteries.
    Plus, they've partnered with the New Zealand company Offshore Cruising Tenders to offer a carbon fibre tender with a ZeroJet motor. The result is a highly maneuverable tender that's clean, quiet, cheap to run and loads of fun.
    But how fast can it go? How far can it go? And how much does it cost? Click on the video to find out all of the above. And if you enjoy it, consider pressing the subscribe button for weekly content on electric powered cars, buses, boats and - coming soon - passenger planes!
    And if you're keen on cutting your carbon footprint, come and join us at Ecotricity, which is now New Zealand's only climate positive electricity provider! That means by switching today, you're actually turning back the clock on Climate Change, while saving money in the process.
    Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it's not! Ecotricity is real, with really affordable electricity, thanks to it being purely renewable.
    Head to www.ecotricity.co.nz and chuck in your address to see how much money & carbon you can save right now. It's that easy and it makes a real, positive difference for the next generation.

    This is the stuff of my dreams. I had the idea that HamiltonJet were looking into this, but this implementation is fantastic.
    Hope you guys can find the capital to mass volume and get that carbonfiber more acessible

      Bummer, they only work with new vessel builders with a minimum quantity of 20 units. Cool idea, but I'll have to look elsewhere for my project.

    As a Vet below the poverty line it makes me sad to try and find something affordable to share with my family to get on the water and think you may have found something only to have your dreams dashed upon seeing the price shown on screen. I want to take my parents out on the water. My dad loved being on the water with Mom and his two sons, but he was recently told he has early onset dementia. If anyone can help me find something please don’t hesitate to point me in the right direction.

    They really need to add a roof the same shape as the boat, but covered in solar panels capable of charging the battery while you sit still fishing or it’s being towed behind your bigger boat/ship. Unless they think people like sunburn/skin cancer.

  • @NZVideoGuy
    @NZVideoGuy 11 місяців тому +1

    Seriously? Isn't this just virtue signalling? You spend years developing a small boat adding up all your Co2 output along the way, plus all the Co2 it took to produce the batteries, and end up with a tiny boat that can buzz around for 60 mins, what, once every 3 months? How can anyone sit in that thing and say with a straight face, "zero emissions"?
    Is this anything but fun and games for the wealthy?
    That's a no from me. 👎

    • @EcotricityNZ
      @EcotricityNZ  11 місяців тому +3

      I love that you're also as concerned about carbon emissions as me. That's important. Yes, they are pretty spendy things, but you have to remember that even the Nissan Leaf was above $70k when it first arrived in New Zealand. Electric tech will always get cheaper in time. As for the machine's use case, it's a small tender, not a long haul vessel and there seems to be a market for them. But most of all? This thing is absolute FUN! I hope you can try it one day. -Gav
