- I hated the T-34-85. It was an underarmoured medium tank with a lousy selection of guns and a horrible matchmaker. But things have changed since 7.5, time for another look...
Note: This is version 2 of the T-34-85 review, there were problems with the original and I had to take it down and remaster it.

Gotta love how Jingles made fun of that tiger p for sitting in an open field with his flank towards the enemy... and then promptly does the exact same thing. Entertaining as always Mr.Jingles.
A litlle interesting fact: T34 and T34-85 were (among others) used by Armored forces of JNA (Jugoslovenska Narodna Armija-Yugoslav People's Army), eventually we had 1000+ of the buggers... Now I'm not sure when did they retired it, but it was on the "reserve list" well in to the 90's and well basicly my point here is that it last saw operational use in the balkans war mainly in 1991 and 1992 but was also used, in smaller numbers though, throughout the entire war, when it was finally scraped in 1997... The proof of how extensively it was used is the fact that army engineers created "first Yugoslav" tank named A-1 (which was basicly T34-85 with a diferent, Yugoslav made turret and 85mm gun featuring a muzzle break, aparently also Yugoslav made) but by the mid 1950's we got ourselves a bunch of Shermans and jackson, wolverine and hellcat TD's so the program was scraped, and A-1 ended up with only 5 tanks ever produced, whitch can be seen on 1950 liberation day parade in Belgrade, there is only one remaining today and it's part of permanet display of military museum in Belgrade... But the bottom line here was: those oldtimers got draged out of garages in 1991 and got fired up for the one last time, and they were used by both sides, and were also facing T55's and well against each other... And today there is a certain number of T34's and T34-85's as museum pieces throughtout ex Yugoslavia republics, two of them again in belgrade (one of them is sitting next to the jumbo sherman and I belive wolverine in the courtyard of military academy barracs In Banjica-Belgrade and another again as part of permanent display At military museum located on Kalemegdan Fort in Belgrade)...

Best game i ever had(so far) in wot was with this tank. Tier 7 battle, 12 kills and +5000 damage. This is REALLY good tank.
This is the best tank i've ever had.
It is a very fun tank indeed. I have fun regardless of what tiers I'm up against. The speed and DPM it puts out is just so satisfying.
t34 is good tank,my opinion. now i want buy 34-85. T34-85 is better?...relative to its tier..

Its a swiss army knife tank. Best to start as a sniper and then move into a flanker. Its one of my most played tanks. The new gun made all the difference. It was fun way back when it had the 100mm though :)
I had it when the game was almost newly released, you could say i was one of the earlier players to get it, and my impressions of it then, was that it was complete garbage, only thing i could do was to try and snipe,, but easier said than done with the guns that it had.
Not sure about how it is now though, so i might buy it again(as i sold it beacuse i just couldnt stand it)

I know exactly what you are saying. The armor is still garbage, but the gun is golden. That new 85mm makes a pretty big difference in how the tank plays. I really enjoy it now.

When it was first released it had a crappy 85 gun and a 100mm, so it actually WAS a T-34-100. Then they reworked the 85 gun, called it the 85DTM and removed the 100mm gun from the T-34-85s tech tree. Its the same 100mm that is on the IS. The KV-13, T-43 and T-35-85 all got the new DTM gun, and it greatly improved all 3 tanks. Hope that helps.

I suggest Rammer, improved vents and coated optics ... the only way to play this tank is to constantly move and only stop for the ocasional flanking shots. Coated optics really help with getting that first 180 dmg down range :)
I don't haveto mention that this tank is the most successful tank in my lineup :)

Oh lord ... Repairs all the way. You have to constantly move around ... its not about getting hits ... its about not getting hit :) *while stil ldoing hits* if you knwo what I mean. Play it like a light tank ... but a light tank that can penetrate everything.
get camo and repairs on your loader, radio op and driver, sharshooter for the gunner is boss on t34 85 because the gun is so accurate already and six sense on the commander obviously, i personally choose to use a camo net rather than optics just because i like to get on the flank of the enemy without being seen (i have six sense) then putting in the best amount of effective fire without being seen or in higher tier games being able to spot the enemy for my team, my pointers for gameplay in the t34 85, dont get HIT! ha be sneaky and hyper map awareness see where you can use the terrain to your advantage because of the superior mobility and accuracy :)

Pretty much, yes. You see a lot of people doing the same thing, I sometimes do it myself. You spot a target and immediately stop, turn your turret and start aiming, without giving consideration how your hull is angled. In this case the Tiger P was flat side on towards the 3601H he was shooting at. On the other hand I was further away and had angled myself against the 3001H I was shooting at, just on the off chance he could see me. I don't always remember to do it, but better safe than sorry.

You get that in replays sometimes when you rewind it to the beginning after taking damage.

After watching this I am sorely tempted to grind to get this vehicle, especially as there is a tier 6 gap in my garage. In my opinion the tier 6-8 has more than its fair share of awful vehicles, Jdg Panzer, VKxxx anything.
I cant see that the T34-85 has been nerfed since you published this report, I've checked the changelogs...and I hope not, as this looks to be a great fun tank.

At the beginning of the video, you pointed out a Tiger P who was stood in open ground and firing at the enemy ... then you did the same. Was it because you were confident of not having being spotted since you could see the enemy only because of your scout ? ... nice vid btw ... informative and well produced as always .. keep up the good work
Is this any good for cresting ridges and hull down shots? Or does it have typically horrible Soviet gun depression?

About time you reviewed this tank, ever since they buffed the 85mm and added the new engine this thing has fast become my favorite credit grinder. I'm now on the T-43 and I really wish they hadn't removed the D10T from it. Not because it was a good gun on that tank either but because now I have to use the same 85mm on my stock T-44 to grind out almost 40,000xp just to get the D10T :(
Just a rare damage panel bug that sometimes happens in replays if you rewind them.
Jingles, you should angle the corner of the hull straight on to the enemy more. Since it's 45mm all around, you can angle it very well, I held off a kv-1, pz 3/4, and pzIV head on at himmelsdorf, left off at 80% because the 3/4 managed to penetrate my turret.
Nice video, thankx for the info on the T34-85! I have the T34 atm but I am grinding my way to the T34-85. On a sidenote: I noticed in ur video, when you were still in your garage..that you only need to pay 150 gold for a new garage slot...while we all now have to pay twice that amount of gold for 1 garage slot...seems not everything gets better with newer versions.... =(
Any problems with the exposed fuel tanks on these? Would the CO2 fuel tank durability module be a good idea? I watched this vid to get a better idea of armament types for this tank. I'm currently tearing up the countryside in a 34 with the 57mm. :D

This video was realy helpfull to me in my decision to go down this line of tanks..currenty I am still playing the original T34 and slowly grinding my way to this baby! again thank you for your awesome videos! The tactics that you use...you always seem to prevail with any tank in any game..you are realy a good tank tacticion...me I'm just a noob, but I do my best and try to learn from my mistakes...and most importantly..I enjoy playing the game! Is this thing performs still well? I am just going to switch from t-34, and i am quite worried about the lack of armor which can show even on tier 5. I know its not the strong point in t-34 I am not makeing up my plans trusting in my armor. If it can be played similar to the t-34 on tier 5 I would be really happy since I enjoy that one really much.

love this tank so far, just got 2nd mastery badge on it (in possibly the shortest game I've been in, clocking an intense 5min brawl) and I only have the first 85mm, can't wait for the final gun.
Nah, that was him hiding behind a Jagdpanzer IV at E6-ish opposite us. With the clear line of view at the Tiger he could see waiting around the corner to my right.

Sure, just download Fraps or Bandicam, run it while playing (or while running a replay), press whichever button it assigns to "record" and start speaking into your microphone.

Everyone forgets the 300 damage of the 85mm's HE rounds. Unless you're a Borsig or a Hellcat or anything with less than 44mm of effective armor.

Jingles, you should have mentioned that hitting those fuel tanks on the back of the tank gives a chance of fire. I have burned many times in this tank before I started using the auto fire ext.
T-34-85 is one tank that I always thought was one of the better tier 6 tanks, even back when the old over-powered Hellcat and tier 6 KV-1S was in the game. The T-34-85 has remained untouched by the nerf hammer like the other tanks and is still a great tier 6 medium tank. I used to play the Hellcat a lot back when it was over-powered but after they nerf batted it to death, I spent more time in the T-34-85. I recently won the T-34-85M premium version of the tank and like it even more. It is slightly less mobile than non-premium version but has a faster rate of fire (same dpm as Cromwell) and has 75 mm of frontal armor instead of 45.
It's kinda funny how the T-34-85 got better with it's new gun, and the T-28 was made worse by removing it's 85mm. I understand why they removed the gun, as it wouldn't face the higher tiers it used to go against and that 85mm is ridiculous against lower tiers, but now it seems like it's just a fast, huge foil tank with no gun. lol Thankfully I had already unlocked the KV-1 before patch 7.5. Would you say it would be wise to play this tank hull down? Seems like it has a tricky turret and the hull armor is a let down.
I know I asked you to do a VK3002DB video in the recent past. However I went ahead and elited the DB and got 100% crew. Also take note that I am a free player. Fully upgraded this tank is actually really awesome. It is a bit rough at first but with any tank you can't really judge It fully until It actually performs at 100% crew with all modules unlocked etc etc. If your up for a challenge do a DB video :P
At first I hated this tank, but now It's my most favourite one in my garage.

for me, i can say i skipped the 34-85 and went to the 43. but the 43 gun is the same as the 34-85s max. but i learned that i had to carefully place the shots in areas that i know would do something and use more HE shells than AP. APCR shells work ok but can get a tad expensive after heavy use :/
I used to like T 34-85 before 7.5 update, it's 100 mm gun was amazing, now you can pick only 85, it's armor was a lot better before that update (it was more bouncy) and there was possibility to take down IS 3 in 1 on 1 when you knew how to drive it properly.

I used to like this tank more before the change! The extra penetration and damage of the D-10 was amazing. T-43 the same. I did play as medium/heavy, going fast to a spot and ambush enemy tanks. I did have good results on the SU-85 with this gun, so I might give it a try again.
I know I am a little late with my comment, but in your first battle (in the video) is that a KV-1S i see at the top of the screen?
I thought the KV-1S was a tier 5?
+Bryce Menachella This is a very old video. For the longest time the KV-1S used to be a tier 6 heavy equipped with a 122mm gun.
Basically, the kv1s was nerfed so they could bring in a slightly slower clone

True, and that'll change in patch 8.0 when you can see exactly what everyone did on the post battle screen. How I know this guy sucked is because he was hiding behind a Jagdpanzer in his 100mm frontal armour Jumbo and the sum total of his tactical genius was to try to order a tank with 45mm armour to go out into an open field covered by six enemy tanks to clear the way for him.

This one is a beast. Was grinding credits with him during 200% credit weekend and before I knew it I got top gun after top gun!
I upgraded the tank full power a few days back, but oh boy, it was one powerful tank! But the armour was a bit weak.

Been saving up XP for this tank. Just did the research on it. Quite liked the T34 with the 57mm. Good machine. Have to save up and get enough credits to actually buy the thing now. I thought I would just keep the existing crew and re-train them for the 85. Anyway, looking forward to using this. Do like the Russian stuff. Thanks for the vid.

You can only use the 100mm with top tracks and turret. So you still use the 85mm on a stock T44 either way

I hated the T34-85 as well...I sold mine about 3 months ago after I researched the T43....I didn't much like the look of that either so I haven'y even bothered to buy it yet....esp as I have wanted a T54 for so long and now even that is spoiled by the tier 10 meds .. I still hate my Patton even with the top gun and I'm hoping that the reason the M48 Patton tier 10 is so paper like on the test server is that people are using gold ammo!

Does anyone else think that the original puke colour the tank comes in spoils it? I have a 34 and I'm having a hard time warming to it cause it looks like vomit though camo helps a lot. is it the same for all cccp tanks

Depends on what kind of gameplay you want. Tank Destroyers or Medium tanks. The A-43 line is better than the T-34-85 line, even though the A-43 sucks, but tanks after it are great! Tank destroyers are great, but they have more passive game play due to lack of turret. Though Soviet TD:s are great in the ISU line.

T-34/85 was my favorite tank back in the day when you could mount the 100mm. Fucking LOVED it.
