I used the roll top version of that bag from Hilltop to make my own first aid kit. I’m a nurse so I think i bring more than most. I bring much of it for anyone else i may encounter on the trail that might need some assistance.
And there should be a little tweezers in your Swiss Army knife if you’re using that scissors. Scissors definitely handy for first aid. I also include a safety pin. It helps to pop blisters or dig out small splinters or pebbles that are embedded. Works super well on dog paws
Excellent video! The one thing I'll be including this year that I haven't in the past (and I don't see in other comments) is bee sting/wasp wipes. I never thought about it until I was out on an adventure race with my brother and we ran into some bees. He got stung, we moved away, but they followed us and then I got stung (I guess they can follow once one of them has stung?). We went a little further and then he busted out these wipes from his first aid kit (I didn't have any in mine) and it made a big difference. Took the pain away and gets rid of the pheromone to prevent you from being chased by others. You better believe I ordered some after that! ha!
Great video! One thing I would suggest, and not everyone will agree, is after battling (and winning👍🏼) blisters for a large portion of my LASH on the AT, I will not go without a safety pin or 2. They can be used for gear repair or draining blisters. I used a lighter to disinfect the pin, alcohol wipes to clean and bandaid covered with kt tape. Worked great. Blisters were almost healed after 16 days on trail. I started with Leuko tape but found the stretch of the kt tape worked much better. 👍🏼
Great idea bro. Along with hiking im also a skater so my med kit needs to be custom. I went ahead and bought a few bags using your affiliate links. Great video my man.
Nice on Taylor! I need to make a first aid kit vid as well. I’d also throw some anti-monkey butt or body glide/anti-chaffing stuff in there. Aloe Vera for sun burns. Maybe a sewing kit. I like the butterfly sutures 👍 need to add those.
I was checking my other tabs for the source of the music I was hearing to discover it's background music on this video. I keep a small bottle of witch hazel in my kit. I've found that if I get into poison ivy, and I start to get a rash, witch hazel clears it up the best for me. I also keep some summit suds in my poop kit as a quick wash-up if I think I walked through some poison ivy. (thanks again for the Summit Suds, I really like them) Another med in addition to the Benadryl, ant-acid, and pain pills, I include Imodium. Don't want the runs to ruin a trip. You mentioned having scissors on your SAK, does it also have tweezers? Many of them do.
@@SouthernHike Please don't take it as a complaint, as it wasn't meant to be one. I just got a chuckle out of it as I didn't realize where the music was coming from and I was searching my other tabs for it.
My list is about the same except I always have a couple aspirin tablets (325mg) in case you or someone else on the trail is having a suspected heart attack. I’ve had to hand one out twice on trail in the past couple years.

An antidiarrheal like amodium ad is handy to have as well.
Adding!!
I bought the same hilltop’s bag for my emergency migraine and lupus meds. Love it! My husband always knows what to grab in my bag.
Awesome! I’m loving them!

That’s awesome though! And I actually have the dry bag version too. I just like zippers 😂
Pretty much the same as I carry. I include a small tweezer and some Imodium. The Imodium saved me from having to cut a trip short last year.
For sure adding Imodium! Thanks for the input man!
Thursday, March 07th: Looks good! Imodium? Good luck! Happy Trails! Ross08
For sure going to add!
Yes to an organized pack! I think it makes it so much easier to pull things in and out of the pack and only pull out what you need

Omg my biggest troll agreed with me 😳😳🤣

Nice dude!! So far I’ve never had issues with chaffing backpacking. On the other hand I’ve had it happen multiple times running.
@@SouthernHike Not talking about the backpack chaffing more like buttcheeks or legs.
Dude read what I said again. BackpackING. 😂
@@SouthernHike CONTEXT! 😂😂😂
Your Swiss knife may have tweezers in it. Mine does. Good video.
Unfortunately the version I have doesn’t. 🤔
Pretty cool little video

😂😂 I try to keep the music real low key. Thanks for the input Doc! Adding Imodium for sure!

That’s really smart!!
I am more intrigued by your country boy cosmetic bag. jk my med kit is like 9oz I think I need to cut it back nowadays tho.
😂😂 I laughed when I did the edit!!

5:49 it seems like you got most of the important stuff for your first Aid kit
Who wouldn't trust the advice of a country boy engineer!
😂😂 right??
Imodium?
For sure adding!
