Is it more accurate to tune-up in playing position?

Would this be easier to play than a ukulele, all things being equal?

Awesome question! There's a lot of subtle info I could share on that topic, but here's my first thoughts. Just my opinion, of course. It depends on the student and their goals. Before I knew about Loog guitars, I used to start most young guitar students on uke. Nowadays, I start most of them on Loog. I find that for small, young hands, Loog guitars (especially Loog mini) are SLIGHTLY easier to press the strings than any uke I've played. Also, the 3 instead of 4 strings makes it a bit easier. Finally, Since the Loogs make it really easy to attach a strap, they are way simpler to hold than ukes which I find to be a huge plus. Oh, and the Loog tuning app makes things way simpler for kids to tune their own instrument.
So, Loog hits a lot of big points for me as a first instrument. There ARE times I'll teach uke though. Mainly if the student really prefers the higher sound or just has it in their head that's what they want to play.
Let me know if that helps or you have other questions!

How do you make this video and not say what the tuning is? E and then what?

Oh geez! That is pretty absurd I didn’t say the actual tuning as the first thing in the video : ) Its tuned (from lowest to highest), G B E. Same as the 3 highest strings on a standard guitar.
Thanks for pointing out that huge shortcoming! I’ll make an update on the title or description

I'm having no luck at all tuning Loog Mini with the app
I believe the tuner page is different than my app.
    Anyone else getting frustrated?

Hey, Kane - Yes, it can certainly be tricky at first! I notice that the Loog app mostly works on my student's phones and iPads, but the tuner does not always work. Not sure why, but it is frustrating.
As a backup option, I'd suggest getting the free version of the "Fender Tune" app here:
      www.fender.com/pages/tune-app-guitar-tuner
It's not quite as simple as the Loog app, but it works really well. I put together a video on how to use it.

Let me know if you are still stuck! And FYI, the strings on a new Loog, or any guitar will take a weeks to really "settle in". You'll have to tune more frequently at first than you will after that.
The Loog mini acoustic especially holds it's tune extremely well after the strings have settled.

@@BenBrillCreative Thank you. Loog is for my soon to be 5-year-old. I'll teach him a valuable lesson that is "Do not quit". lol. I'll try it again and again until we get our Loog tuned.

@@kanelitwiniec Yea! That's a good lesson to show him. 5 is a great age for a Loog.
Good luck, and if you get stuck, I'd be glad to hop on a quick 15 min Zoom to give you some more direction at no charge. A well-tuned guitar is key!
