From a buyers perspective, I bought 3 topps traded baseball sets, provided by a third party but shipped by Amazon. I know this is eBay but you mentioned Amazon too. But cards are very expensive and condition sensitive. You showed a deck of damaged cards. Well I receive these sets in a bubble wrap bag and in our awesome care shipping methods, the sealed box was destroyed and cards sitting in the bag damaged. I was willing to ship them back but I was told not to. I know this is a different situation but it is relevant to what you mentioned about damaged cards. Now If you got cards from your supplier that were damaged like you showed, would you not want them either replaced or refunded? I know damage isn’t the main point of the video but look at it from both perspectives when it comes to damaged cards. I also bought a “factory sealed” box of vintage packs of cards. I got it from a third party seller shipped direct and it was reseated and must have gotten wet at some point over the years before being resealed. Buyers deal with stuff like this all the time. I am not saying anything about you specifically because I never bought from you but if these companies didn’t have protection for their buyers, they would be out of business because of stuff like this. If you have issues with a buyer or selling platform, there are tons of options. Just do some homework. Block and report the buyer so they can be monitored for potential fraud if the buyers do this a lot and if there’s a problem with a supplier, do the same. There’s ways to protect yourself from fraud and if it’s a big issue then don’t just make a complain video, do the work to protect yourself and your business.
I totally understand the frustration. It's sad that return fraud is so prevalent in retail, particularly online retail. It's a tough situation - return disputes are a "he said, she said" situation between the buyer & seller, and the platforms are always going to side with the buyer by default because buyers are more important to the platform than sellers. I don't see any realistic solution for it either - any evidence the platform could theoretically require can be fabricated. If you try to make returns more difficult generally, you end up reducing sales conversion rates across the board which hurts both sellers and the platform in a different way. Ultimately return fraud is just another form of shrinkage and, for better or worse, it's something you have to factor in as an operating cost.
I used to work for eBay. Sadly you are correct. That's why its called eBay BUYER protection. You may find an agent who is willing to help but as eBay doesn't touch anything; Its all he said/she said.
In Europe there are people that live on Amazon stuff for a few weeks and return everything so they basically have and use everything new and then get new stuff for the same money. I dont think they even ban people for doing that.
I mostly sell cards but recently sold some eGPUs that use thunderbolt cables which are $15-20 cables. The guy returned the eGPU but kept the cables 😂 and his reason for return was cables didn’t work for his device
As a seller myself, I am confident that nobody ever looks at that.. they just automatically process it back to the buyer. Of course the problem with smaller singles is that it takes so much work to make any money. I do love my blocked list and have no problem adding more.
