I just made a small batch!
    1 cup sugar
    1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup water (I used tap water)
I cooked it on medium until it began to boil up, but then I turned it down to low. I whisked non-stop, it finally became darker and darker, then I checked my temp. 252° and I took it off the burner.
Thanks for this! I can now ditch the razor and hella expensive razor blade refills!

    Ingredients:
Sugar, Lemon, Water, Baby Powder, Moisturiser
    Recipe:
Put 4 cups of sugar in a pan
Add 1 cup of lemon juice
    Add 1 cup of water
    Whisk until combined
    Now,
Whisk on medium to high heat consistently
When is starts to boil lower the heat and continue whisking
If it starts to boil over remove from heat and then place sugar back on burner
Continue heating and whisking until it has an auburn Color
Turn off the heat and let it sit for 30-40 minutes
Pour it in a container of your choice, it should have a honey like consistency, if it is too hard it means you overcooked it, add a little water and heat again and if it is runny it means it is undercooked, heat again.
    How to use?
Wear gloves and make a small ball, use some baby powder on your skin, then place the sugar on the opposite direction of the hair, hold the skin tight, mood 3 times and flick in the direction of hair growth.
Congrats, you don’t have any more body hair!!
EDIT: To store the remaining sugar wax just keep it in an air resistant container

Hi, does the container have to be made of glass or can it be made of plastic?
To be honest, now I've made it and I'm confused about whether I should pour it directly into a container or let it sit first. I'm afraid the texture will change if refrigerated for too long.

Pro tip: if you use fresh squeezed lemon juice, add an extra full cup of sugar to the recipe. Store-bought Lemon juice like what she used is mostly citric acid and can actually change the consistency of your sugar paste. I found this out the hard way and had to completely start over. Once I added a full cup, my sugar was a lot darker and worked better for grabbing da hair

    • @to.lame.to.function5242

I can’t wait to try this! I’m 24 and I’ve been shaving since I was 14, and I am done, my friend. Especially since my husband likes my legs smooth, and so do I, but that means I have to shave them like every two days forever. No thanks. Time to try waxing! 😂
    UPDATE AFTER DOING IT:
You absolutely _have_ to boil it long enough, I’m telling you. Mine was a little runnier than hers, but I thought “it’s fine” and stopped. *_It was not fine._*
It’s almost impossible to work with if it’s not thick and DARK BROWN. Mine kept melting sticking to my fingers and skin, and I had to stick the sugar wax in my freezer between every couple strips yanked.
_For the love of everything, _*_boil it til it’s THICK._*

    • @milo_thatch_incarnate
      @milo_thatch_incarnate 8 місяців тому +3

@@animatedNight - yes, mine got SUPER frothy and the top layer was covered in white bubbles. That's just the moisture boiling out of the sugar mixture. Just keep whisking it until it's 250 degrees F, and a dark auburn color! Then leave it to cool, like she says, and if it's a thick honey consistency when it's cooled, THEN it can go in the fridge for hours. If it's not a very thick honey consistency yet, boil it again for longer. That's what I had to do.

      @clairejeanbaptiste5095 3 роки тому +40

@@taylortaft7866 I used the cloth wax strips because they were much easier as opposed to learning how to work the wax in my hand. But the strips take more wax because that piece of wax is one and done, you can’t use it over and over like she did in the video. Every section is a new wax. I used a craft stick to apply the wax(opposite of hair growth) then press a strip on(opposite of hair growth), let it sit about 5-10sec and pull(direction of hair growth). WORKED FLAWLESSLY!

This worked so well for me. Thank you so much for the recipe . I had a terrible experience having hair removal done professionally. They worked one spot until I bled. It was unbelievably painful. I had to leave, without getting anything else done but one armpit. I was certain I would never wax again. This approach is so nice because you can control how much of a section you work, and how many times you redo that area. I found that if there were a few stragglers, I just plucked them with tweezers. I also had better luck applying the sugar with popsickle sticks. I then applied a strip of cotton fabric to do the peel . That was much more affective, and much less painful for me. Hardly painful at all compared to my first experience with a professional. I will probabaly never shave again. Excellent video. Thanks again!!

    SUGARING HAS CHANGED MY LIFE.
I’m Indian, I have body hair! I remember being embarrassed about it in middle school like in gym class when I hadn’t been allowed to shave yet or when this one guy said my arms are hairy
And lemme tell you I’ve been consistently sugaring (let’s say about 6 times total in the span of like 2 years) and my hair grows back so thin and sparse! It’s like barely there!! There’s patches of skin where I have no hair too 😍😍😍
I plan on sugaring consistently until my hair stops growing, it’s possible! This stuff is like a miracle! I feel so silky smooth and feminine like 24/7 thanks to sugaring because even when it grows back it’s barely there :)

Great video, you did an amazing job with explaining everything in detail. I'm originally Palestinian, sugar wax is the only type of wax women use in the Middle East (well at least at home). I moved to the US as a teenager, and when I realized I needed to start using wax instead of shaving I decided to ask my mom who lived overseas how she made it. Typical mother, she wasn't able to give me exact measurements lol, so after several attempts where she told me to go by color (she didn't use a thermometer), it came out too hard every time. My mom has since passed, and buying good wax to use at home can get expensive, I also think sugar does a better job of getting the hair out. As a side note, they never used gloves back, home, that's the only part I wasn't looking forward to. I'm so glad I watched your video and know I can use gloves. Thanks again!!!

I saw some comments saying it was too runny and I was contemplating trying this recipe but the one I was given at school and that came out really well for me was:
•2 cups of [granulated, or brown] sugar (400g)
•1/4 cup of lemon juice (60mL)
    •1/4 cup of water (60mL)
It was incredibly easy I got a candy thermometer from Walmart for five dollars but honestly I didn’t need it. Because after it changes color you can drop it in ice cold water and see if you can form it into a ball, or if it’s too runny or stars coming apart then you know to leave it on the heat a bit, it’s not done cooking.
But yes I love this recipe!!!!

FIY - the fact the ball gets white after isn't because of your "dead skin cells" - it's because of the air that gets trapped inside of the sugar. The more you roll it, the lighter it gets (and you can even test it out yourself by rolling and pulling the ball of sugar for a little while). Any candy-maker will be able to tell you why this happens. Otherwise, great video!

    • @theaetherium

Yesterday I made this and tried twice to make a ball and failed both times (just goo all over my hands😫) so I gave up on that and grabbed some paper towels folded it over and used it for “strips” and it worked!! As a guy I just wanna comment to help out my brothers watching:
You're gonna need to make about 2-3 batches of this stuff bc the hair over-saturates the wax REALLY quickly and it ends up not grabbing the hair well (she's a pretty small girl too by comparison). Also, I recommend getting the wax up to 280 or even close to 290 Farenheight because I tried cooking to 250 as she said and it was way too runny (I live in the NY/NJ area and it's September rn so climate differences may change the temp you need); You gotta almost burn the sugar for it to harden and grab the hair when it cools down. In fact, I ended up having to apply it while periodically re-heating it so it could cool down just enough on the surface of the skin to pull effectively. The problem is, this ends up making you sweat A LOT because of the heat so you might have to sometimes stop applying and take a quick shower and start again. I'm a slightly big dude and really hairy (6 feet, 220 lbs) doing this for bodybuilding so If you're just wanting to remove the hair on your legs and arms ignore this but if you wanna get EVERY strand of hair below your head off your body like me, you're gonna wanna make a lot of this stuff, and its gonna take a while (for me it was like 3-4 hours total over a few days), especially if you're doing it for the first time.

@@Majhail_leen heat your batch to only 150° and a thermometer is essential. You can use either fresh lemon juice or apple cider vinegar but use 5 cups of sugar no matter which one you choose. Your home internal temperature also plays a part so if your air conditioning is on it works all the better.

The first time I made it, let it cool overnight, and it was too runny. so I put it back on the stove, boiled it again, and once again it was just a tiny bit too thin. back to the pot to boil and I let it get up to 270. I was afraid I had burned it and ruined it because the color was much darker, but I let it cool overnight and tried it the next morning and it was great! it was thicker and firmer than the video but it worked great! Definitely going to take practice figuring out the handling of it but I think this is going to be amazing once I become a pro! So glad I discovered this right before summer!! Thank you!
