I like how Mordecai at first seemed like a genuinely heartless monster, but now he seems much more like someone desperately TRYING to be a person, just failing really hard at it
I assume that’s the result of an already awkward guy going into “The business” young. Guy never learned to navigate social settings outside of being “The creepy hit man”

As the man of the family he probably felt the responsibility of learning to provide for them (leading into him getting into business so early) but also not socialising or even maybe developing as the other kids would. Just a thought tho.

Apparently back then most cufflinks were custom made or custom tailored so they were easily to track who they belonged to.
So that would be one of the worst things to leave at a crime scene.

@@donks7300 because many of them were hand made, letting them track them to a specific tailor letting them find you specifically.
@@donks7300 Yeah as thrackerzod said. Cufflinks were SUPER easy to track. Not a lot of people had them, thus not a lot of people made them. Many people would also have unique cufflinks designed just for them too, so dropping your cufflinks on the ground was basically the same as leaving your finger prints on the glass.

Every time he's in a car in the comic he sits in the middle; when they're going to the pigs, when he's waiting in Mitzi's car, and when they're going to the jewel thief.
In side comics where he's shown sitting in a couch he also sits in the middle of it.

I enjoy the implication that Mordecai has a specific face he puts on when he wants to murder someone's entire family with an ice pick. Implying that this comes up often enough for him to be ready for it.

Definitely some of my favorite side comics ever! They're pretty old, but they really stand the test of time.
I honestly feel that Sungwon is the best person to voice Mordecai, he just fits it so well.
Why is SungWon Cho's voice so absolutely flawless for Mordecai? 😂 Literally could not have picked a better voice.
Top tier voice acting all around.
Through every comic I read, it was so hard to imagine him saying things like this. I CANNOT believe there is anyone on this planet who can make Mordecai NOT sound out-of-character even when he's saying things like "Dad-gummit" and "humdinger". This is TRUE talent, I literally couldn't have possibly imagined a better voice actor for him - and I say "literally" because I tried. And couldn't.
Mordecai proves once again that he's quite literally the best. And Viktor proves to me that he his also a valid contender.
They are perfect foils for each other

Mordecai was literally created for SungWon Cho, his delivery of the dialogue is just impeccable. And, although it is fun to watch Viktor and Mordecai being murder buddies, it’s more fun to watch Mordecai trying to get along with Rocky though.
I wonder if Mordecai finally got over his nightmare after drinking Rocky’s “special” coffee?
Idk how getting your eyes dilated by drinking drugged coffee enables you to see microscopic living organisms like your eyes are a microscope, but I doubt that Mordecai's gonna forget that experience, especially not with Rocky's creepy narration 👀👀

@@lazzie7495 They're hit men/criminal enforcers. It's strongly implied that they killed the guy and buried him in the cornfield. But all the dirty work happened offscreen; it simply cut from the before to the after.
@@avolantyable No, it makes perfect sense. It just took me awhile to figure out what was happening. Usually when somebody is killed they either show it or directly state that the person has been killed. I felt I had missed something or that there was another part somewhere.

Minutes later, the police come knocking and found a sole survivor, Franklin Goosenberg bleeding on the floor. Although pressed to reveal the identity of their murderers, Frank insisted that nobody had shot him that fateful Valentine day and then died 3 hours later in the hospital.
I'd pay a large sum to see Jason Marnocha and Sung Won Cho's reactions when they were recording.

It is interesting how the voice acting is different yet the same with what I used to hear from ProZD's own dubbed videos in the past. I like it ^_^
He's really improved since then. Like, it's still his voice, but there's a little more nuance. Like when he says "What do you want from me?" you can hear the traces of his past New York accent coming out.

I think the most importing thing to a smoulder is a barely readable smirk to the eyes, and honestly I've only ever seen a smile reach Mordecai when he's actually satisfied
The bad news is I've apparently let these go under the radar for years.
The good news is I now have lots of new videos to watch.

Despite Victor's opinion I think Mordecai has a pretty great natural smoulder going on. Well: it's really more of an aloof haughty Mr Darcy type situation, but it still works.

It's funny coming from the Pilot, where Mordecai is painted as a ruthless, practical, killing machine, and then seeing him here as a bit of a goofball.
Everyone's overall more serious in the main comic. Side stories like this one play with their comedic side much more often.
You know, I'll never stop wondering what happened to that third guy at the end of Quick-Fix.

I am somehow VERY confused about how I should think about Mordecai. Since I first saw him in the pilot animation, didn't read the comics yet, and started to watch the comic dubs now...
But I like him. The seriouse version is so cool, and the spin-off version is so ador...able...? (I'm not sure if I'm making the right word choice)
Spin-off Mordecai is like deadly and twisted kind of cute. The type of character you would like to give a hug to but at the same time you know that it would probably be the last thing you'd ever do.
@@aino-kaisav5504 he does act that way in the comics too. His response to the congregation was pretty funny. And he gets made fun of a lot for the hatchet incident.

as a new fan, i knew there was something about mordecai that made me really enjoy his character, but finding out its neurodivergency just hit it up a whole new level
