You know man you don’t have a lot traction due to the over saturation of fitness accounts of UA-cam. But keep it up u make really quality videos, I hope u continue to blow up more in the future
He makes EXCELLENT vids. I'd only ask, respectfully > if he could shorten the talking time at beginning, we're all BUSY, there are no extra minutes in daily schedule
It’s because he spent 3:30 minutes to say we need strong shoulders and roll intro. He just fills his videos with too much filler and useless things, he doesn’t understand his target audience
True I just subbed randomly because I thought I might come back, didnt realize he was a high level coach at the time. Now I have seen several of his videos
Interesting post. Donnie Warner, a US weightlifting champion in 1973 and 1978, showed me the Bradford exercise 40 years ago when I visited the York Barbell Club. However, he performed it with a snatch grip.
I'm 2 days into seeing your vids, super informative and GREAT ending, seeing that beautiful girl perfectly split that 225 overhead and then just casual cool walk away quietly w a smile as her friends screaming was the best.
After watching this video, bloke, I've to tell you what. I've seen a lot of videos with some very good advices but yours are the absolutely best of all. They're worldclass. Clear, precise and energetic coaching. Thank you for sharing your expertise. Been sharing your content with my daughter who is away in college. She has really taken to the Oly lifts and working hard in her off time to learn them. Your material is so helpful…..
Great quality info....seriously ....way better than 99 percent of the garbage out there. Keep it up and do the channel you want...not what you think others want
This is only my view :). Dane can't cure everyone's problems with one video, so I am not criticising. The exercises in the video are not for beginners who this video is aimed at. My thoughts if you are a beginner and looking at some points raised here to address.. 4: Bradford press: doesn't mimic Snatch/Jerk bar path or build strength. Do BTN push jerk, you'll retract scaps & push heavy weight, be careful lowering bar when doing maximal loads/poundages. Hand spacing width dependent on flexibility & arm length, will be somewhere between Snatch and Clean grip. 3: Taipei pulls useful for all the reasons stated, except posterior/rear delts. 2: Snatch press: best for intermediate/advanced lifters, look at bar crash of the guy in the video at 11.01 with an empty bar because he doesn't have the strength or mobility. I'm assuming XXXX wants you to get the mind to muscle/body connection in the bottom position of the full snatch as you push up with your legs and keep your core tight you can actually push with your arms and shoulders too. Better to do Snatch Balance and Drop Snatch for strength and stability and if you don't feel the pushing I mentioned above. 1: Scott's Press: people struggle with heavy weights overhead because shoulders are too weak. Do standing barbell military presses (experiment with grip width) and alternate with seated overhead dumbell presses, they'll give you strength. Don't worry about it making you slow, the strength will actually make you quicker. These are only my views remember. I've read all the Russian manuals, trained with some Russian olympic weightlifters and with 2 (non-Russian) Olympians, one of which is a Gold medalist. Beginners without strong shoulders need to supplement with: Front Barbell Military Press, Snatch Balance and Drop Snatch, BTN push press, bodybuilding rear delt exercises (even the Chinese do them). Best exercises for anything depends on your weakness :)
Excellent points - I not an Olympic style lifter. I am using an empty 10lb curl bar for the snatch press building form & mobility; will increase to a 20lb straight bar & so on as I progress. I'm using 7lbs for the 17 reps/ 4 sets of Scott's press although my DB press is 55. I am using these to build balance, mobility, injury prevention & strength for my recreational activities
These videos are helpful and inspiring me to improve my lifts! I recently dislocated my shoulder and am struggling to get back into overhead lifts. Any advice specifically for shoulder dislocation? The Bradford press makes me nervous about dislocating my shoulder again.
Woah! Thank you. Loved the video, so informative and helpful and I will certainly be incorporating these exercises into my training. And your channel is excellent as well. Thank you.
Certainly comes off the tongue more than hang snatch high pull. The tai pai lifter is getting it above her collar bone, whereas the guy is blue is getting it to his chest. Getting it to your chest is sufficient for a high pull so as an indication to make sure you go above the collar bone it makes sense. Also seen them called panda pulls 😂
Dane, I am so impressed. Good, no great stuff. I will integrate these soon.👍👍👍. Why not look at some Indian Club/Mace training? Mark Wildman has a ton, but my muse is Paul Taras Wolkivinski, a pretty ordinary octogenarian who has beaten cancer and does beautiful things with ancient training. Kelly Manzone is his avatar in the USA.
I'm sorry for missing this comment. Yes, I would. I understand that can only mean so much coming from the seller and creator, but I designed the course so that it could benefit all coaches that use weightlifting in their training even non-O Lift coaches. I hope that helps 👍
Your man giving the demos of the exercises, why does his knees cave in the first pull in the snatch? I've noticed it in other videos, and it freaks me out, and not in a good kinky way... PS other than that, loving the GS content, recently subbed
He starts wider than other athletes and has longer legs for his body weight which affects his knee movement, but every lifter has certain idiosyncrasies that differ from lifter to lifter. Jake here snatched double body weight so it doesn’t negatively affect his performance. Good question 👍
I saw a video where Rim Jong Sim was doing Snatch Presses; looked easy enough (to an absolute beginner with no idea). Hahaha, I almost fell over with 20kg on the bar.
How is a tai pei pull different from a snatch high pull? And if the main goal was rear delt hypertrophy, would going from a hang be better? If so, wouldn't one want to go at least AT the knee so that there is some force going perpendicular to the torso? I feel that any kind of high pull from a vertical torso will use way more traps than rear delts.
How should shoulders / scapulas be positioned in taipei pulls? I'm dealing with some shoulder pain at the front of the shoulder and trying to do some progression with lightweights, I just want to be sure that the form is correct.
Hi Dane how are you doing? I have an issue i would like yo to address maybe in a video or in an advice. i want to snatch but i cant have my arm to get pass my ears and i cant overhead squat. How can i fix my shoulders to be able to snatch properly?
The "Bradford Lifet" was popularized by big Jim Bradford 6-1 and about 295 pounds back in the 1950s. He pressed in the 1960 Olympics 180 kg (396.75) in near military stule with just shoulder strength. This exercise has been around forever. Here is a video of him presssing 175kg (385.5 lbs) ua-cam.com/video/y7MK-uoVGKk/v-deo.html
Yes there are imbalances, this is something he works on, but that is still his natural disposition. He snatched double bodyweight and will compete on the Senior Pan Am Team. I think he's good 👍
@@broly6708 I understand. I wasn't offended lol. There is a clear imbalance there, but sometimes they aren't progression killers and because he has an atypical body type for lifting, it has leads to questions like this. I just want to be clear that it can be a hindrance to some athletes, but others just have to work with it. Hope that makes sense 👍
In Taiwan we call it 寬聳肩拉,which means wide grip shrug pull. Hope Dane can name it Taiwan pull. We are forced not to use Taiwan as our national team’s name by China government since 1979 till today. Recent years we are struggling to change our team’s name from “Chinese Taipei” to “Taiwan”. Because we are not a city or an island of China, but an independent country.
