    All horizontal surfaces in my sewing space ( I.e, my cutting table, my sewing machine cabinet, and bMy big board ironing board) are magnets for just everything 😂

    Hi Christen! I have a fantastic sewing space! It's on the 2nd floor of our big barn! The first floor of the barn has a nice office that is heated in the winter for the 2 cats, named Leah and Kevin, who live in the barn. Kevin is rather new to the barn because I rescued him back at the beginning of March. There's also a big space where the tractor lives in the winter. But the upstairs is half mine! Along the back of my sewing table are several bears. They love it up there, so of course they have to stay. There are a few more bears along the wall behind my cutting table and my ironing station. My good thread is all in the top drawer of one of my Martha Washington sewing cabinets and the other thread is in the other 2 drawers. My fabric is mostly in bins because we sometimes have mice (shudder!) in the barn. I have a decorative box for my quilt patterns. All other patterns are in decorative bags. And the other half of the 2nd floor of the barn is crammed with my husband's vintage sewing machines. He repairs them. He also has sewing machines downstairs with his hand crank phonographs. And that is MY sewing area!

    Get you one of the grabbers. I had 3 hip replacements and bought some. I use them ALL the time for reaching things that fall behind my desk. You will use it more than you realize.

      WOW! How did you have 3 hip replacements? I had both mine done, and they are working great. Hope you have a great recovery. I also have grabbers all around the house, to pick things up from the floor and from high places. Good luck.

      @@lindapucillo7875 I had both of them done 6 months apart and then one of them had to be replaced again with wires and longer rod. I have osteoporosis. The bones were fractured from having it.

    I found a round, slotted, turntable meant for makeup at Marshall’s and I find it’s perfect for all my must have that are kept near my sewing table.

    I have a large 3 shelf rolling cart. I use it to put the "clutter" on. That way it's out of my way. If I'm super tired when finished, I can leave it for the next day to put everything away. I also have those plastic organizers with drawers on wheels. I have a lot of them. Lol. I can just grab the one with my project supplies and tools and wheel it over.

    I love your approach .. Look forward in watching your videos. I am I gadget crazy hoarder. I discover rulers and ? I am trying to get rid of stuff. Every drawer is filled.. I do keep my sewing threads in plastic slime holders and stack them so I can see them at a quick glance. Long arm thread the same . Serger thread the same. I “try “ to clean up after each project . At least I clean my sewing machine after each use and cover them with dust covers . Thank you

    I love this idea for keeping things while you are working on a project.
    I often loose things under fabric while I am creating this would help that.
    Thanks again for a wonderful helpful video.❤

    Kristen, you are so funny and I enjoy your “confessions of a quilter”. I too hate clutter but it is a by product of sewing/quilting and our desire to “get er done”. I have the thread holder too. I keep white on the holder and black and navy on the spools on my machine. Easier to change out. I have a small drawer cabinet that fits under my table. Inside I have $ store trays that hold all my threads by color, trays with sewing feet, needles, etc and another drawer with scissors not on my table. I find theses baskets and trays work for me and hold my huge homemade pin cushions and scissors that I use daily. Keep on creating and keep on sharing😋😋😋

    I never get used to using my Bernina's thread cutter. I put a 3M Command clear mini hook on the right side of my machine for a small scissors. Going to try double sided tape for my Fiskars snips. Have a nice Labor Day. It's hot here in MN!

    Hi from Australia. I love watching your channel. And I love your handy tips with your video. I was so interested in your nest organiser, the I jumped onto the link. And unfortunately I am not able to purchase. As they haven’t worked out for international shipping yet. 😢I was disappointed. But understand. Fingers crossed they will. And I can be the proud owner of some. Thank you always for your bubbly personality. You always make me smile 😁😁😁♥️. Keep up the great work. ♥️

    Instead of a silicone older like what you showed, I made a quilted mat that hangs over the side of my sewing table. The hanging portion has pockets for different notions. The section that's on the top of the table has a sheet magnet encased. I also sewed up some mini-baskets about the size of a deck of cards that are also magnetized so they can be moved all over the top portion of the mat - the one I'll be using most for a project gets moved closer to me and the other ones get moved back. These mini-baskets hold a bespoke pin cushion, needles, a mini-silicone organizer and other notions.

    Hi Christen. 👋 I’m not a great organizer myself, and I like your Nest. Is there enough space between the higher pegs to store small quilting rulers? I keep “losing” those. 😂

    • @ISeeStarsQuilting
      @ISeeStarsQuilting  10 місяців тому

      I have large shallow drawers in my cutting table and I store my rulers flat. It is not a great organizing system, but they seem to stay protected and safe that way with no shipped corners or accidently getting bumped

    I love your ideas but I only have a dining room table for my computer and sewing machine and a fold up quilting table - both magnets for sewing and cross stitching things. I would kill for your space. I keep my rulers under the quilting table and my scissors in three round buckets besides the sewing machine so I can reach them. I have clear thread boxes stacked on each other with my thread also on the dining room table. As you can see it is quite cluttered. Thank you for your information, I will try and do better.
