It's so nice seeing a real beauty like you in front of the camera . Thank you for putting a spotlight on slavery in the Americas.
And I agree. Having darker skin is superior to having lighter skin genetically speaking.
only in warmer climates - in colder climates darker skinned ppl tend to suffer from vit d deficiency, osteoporosis etc...
But aesthetically speaking, being lighter skin looks better.
Loool that's funny
Yeah like protection from the sun which gives life.
Uuuh? Do you mean within blacks or just in general for the species? Either way what you say is nonsensical.
If you have lighter skin and you're from a climate with the sun beaming down in all its ferocity, then yes, maybe you might get burned more-- though I suspect melanin count doesn't correlate precisely with tone (comparing a light skinned African from an equatorial country and compare them to a darker skinned European there's still a big difference in the character of their complexion) which of course is nature's sunscreen.
Melanin is clearly expensive for the body to use, which is why for example Europeans quickly reduced it after a hundred thousand years or so. Not being in direct sunlight all the time means it just isn't worth the cost to keep producing it.
Waow I never knew that melanin causes us to be more superior, I’mma show this to my family and friends. That last bit really blew my mind very informative discussion keep it up guys👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Melanin rocks scientifically and biological. Even the sun gets its power from melanin.
One minor correction.. Habesha doesn't mean "mixed" in no language. Historically speaking it's one among many tribes that paid tribute to Axum kings. And to suggest "habeshas" engaged is selling darker skinned Ethiopians into slavery misrepresents the reality. That in itself is a European narrative. Look no further than Emperor Menilik II. He's as black as one could get.. yet he's habesha and owned slaves. The slavery in East Africa wasn't identical to that of the West.
Habesha means mixed in Arabic and yeah we did sell slaves to the Arabs. We called them Barreyas (the darkest Ethiopians) and still even do “playfully” call them that. It’s literally 1890s U.S. there, if you think of Barreya as the N word and many light skinned people don’t get married to dark skinned either because their parents say no or ‘cause they don’t want their children to be black. Us Habeshas are literally so racist and I only found this side of Ethiopia out after my trip there over the summer
@@lechatnocternal4817 "Habesha means mixed in Arabic." Ha ha ha your Arabic is extremely amateurish m8. Who taught u arabic? lol. Mixed in arabic is 'khalasi instead. My tip... spend another summer in Ethiopia with different hosts.
@GODESTINY How do you just assume I'm not habesha from that comment? I have realized my mistakes but the things I was commenting were things that my family and other habeshas told me. Now I have learned from those mistakes and will represent my people correctly but why did you feel the need to say that I wasn't habesha all because of one misinformed comment. If you say that to me then might as well call more than half the population of Ethiopia non habeshas because many people in Ethiopia don't know the correct history of Ethiopia. Oh and I did say that barryas were slaves
@GODESTINY When did I say I was educated on this shit? I said I was misinformed. I think YOU shouldn't represent us with your rude ass. We Ethiopians are kind, welcoming and respectful but you are so disrespectful. You are one of the people that are destroying our country with your impatient and angry ass. You literally don't know shit about me but you still continue to assume.
@GODESTINY Did I say they're Arab? No I didn't. And besides if you think that a percentage of many habeshas isn't Arab then YOU'RE delusional. You act as if you have NEVER made a mistake in your life wtf. You should be embarrassed for assuming shit about people too. You legit sound as if you are fully educated on our history but you probably aren't but you still keep opening your mouth and telling misinformed people to stfu when you yourself don't know everything. Chill tf out and go learn how to discuss shit without being disrespectful and judgy
The thing I love about afrikan people is they come in all colors and shapes and sizes homi on god boi boi
This 👏🏾 was 👏🏾 everything 👏🏾 great start! I hate that these convos are too uncomfortable for people to have as if they are not necessary
african genes are so strong you would know if we were "mixed". i took the dna test and it said 97% eritrean/ethiopian 3% sudanese
eritrean and Ethiopians are genetically arabic and Italian tho.....
@@elmstreet2036 lol we not i promise, some are forsure but not the majority. there are kushitic africans along with nilotic and bantu

Great interview. Looking forward to Part 2.
"Habesha" dont mean "mixed" in no language Not in amharic not in tigirina, tigre, not oromo not english, just a minor correction
Some one need to tell chakabar habesha don't mean mixed
The idea that people are bleaching their skin is horrifying to me. I didn't know this happened until I read about it a few years ago. That saddens me. The discussion about black people being validated by Europeans before their beauty is recognized within the black community was interesting. It reminded me of something I overheard. I was in a coffee shop in the town where I live, which is predominantly white and in Ohio, and two white women were sitting at the table next to mine. They were talking about how beautiful Lupita Nyong'o is. I don't know why it surprised me that these two middle-age white women were talking about Luptia's beauty, but it did. Does our beauty have to be recognized by the larger culture before we recognize how beautiful we are ourselves? It's an interesting issue.
I was wondering where you were. Welcome back, Helen. I missed you. 😘
She’d Eritrean
@@sabrinasol6649 😂
Wowwww thus is amazing
Great Interview
i am from asmara & we don't care so much about bing black, the first time to see habeshas so colour obssesed or concerned, who cares if you are darker or lighter,as long as you are nice ,fine and know howe to dress and having fun.
You sound VERY ITALIAN COLONIAL MINDED LIGHT SKINNED PERSON
Habesha don’t mean mixed. It’s a tribe like Yoruba, Ashanti, Zulu etc. This guy is a fair amount of knowledge but sometimes he thinks he’s smarter than he is. He obviously asked you when he said “right?” Because he wanted to get confirmation but you didn’t correct him because you weren’t too sure yourself which is a shame since you’re habesha.
Habesha is used by Eritreans and Ethiopians at least in the West as just a meaning of being Ethiopian or Eritrean . Perhaps i's not very correct but that's how I've heard it being used.
well she is a sellout herself so im not surprised
@@ijustwannabehappier-v4973 why is she a sell out
@@maiaautumne2167 Basically she says she's ''eritrean'' but always represents Ethiopia, claim them and even her boyfriend is one. Constantly travels there and just seem way too obsessed with them. Which is very suspicious coming from an eritrean, we're like enemies.
@@ijustwannabehappier-v4973 ah ok
Just like any other women, some black women are beautiful to me. It never occurred that her being 'light' or 'dark' was factor, rather than merely a feature like any other.
Omg I follow him on instagram I love himmmmmmmm
Habesha does mean “mixed” given it is derived from the Arabic word “habash” which means “mixed blood.”
no, i do speak Arabic and حبش Means a person from Habasha , arabs use to call Axum Habasha , and it also means Black or black person and they use it to put down people till this day.
@@nasirfadhiyare5060 thank you!!!
Are habesha really mixed? that's because even in the Quran they were being called habesha... also they are too dark to be mixed.
You need to work on the sound system ... Great show keep them coming
unfortunately the sound didn't come out well on my mic. Will make sure it's not like this on future episodes.
Hi congratulations to your channel. Nice interview.
What I think after watching many Blackchats and Grapevines videos and alike:
Africans should stay away from copypasting African American/European social issues. We always want to hear more about ourselves but seem to more easily go for what The West does.
We say mean things to each other on the basis of their looks, big deal realy. What are we making of ourselves is the real question. White and Asian people come on these videos and platforms look at us and all they take is, Africans, Black people don't love themselves! That's the conclusion. They literally don't look at us the way we look at ourselves. We've so much more to offer to ourselves than our tears of not being someone else's beauty standards. I'm my own beauty standard. My brothers and sisters are their own beauty standards.Let's love ourselves people.
Great interview
