Girl! I'm so seriously proud of you. You said it ALL!
MOST Black women, don't want to admit that they are trying to look less Black but they are, understandably as it's HARD being Black, but they still are.
It's time to face the truth and grow from it.
Best hair video I've watched yet..... and I've been natural over a decade.
Ps: the natural hair community was started for full Black people but as you said it's represented by biracial 3c women.
You are an enigma and we love you.

    • @ChrisAzalea666
      @ChrisAzalea666 5 років тому +9

Idk what was the point of the FULL black women statement I think it was started for black* women periodt who were, are, and still will be discriminated for having tighter curls or as society likes to refer to it as nappy hair, kinky, matted, nigganaps, BAD hair as it is so often Called and as sharmaine is clearly a representation of that kind of hair appears in ALL shades of black women because regardless if she was full or mixed those adjectives are still going to come up for the hair on her head by white folk. It’s all about embracing and reclaim the GOOD hair on our heads.

I heard one girl call another girl's hair that had 2c/3a hair nappy. The girl usually wore her hair straight but that particular day she wore it natural. She tried to defend herself saying it wasn't nappy just curly but the other girl was just being ignorant and kept saying it was nappy since it wasn't straight like it usually is. Some people are just rude and I believe a little jealous.

You’re giving me serious Angela Davis vibes with your look and your realness for that matter! My friend and I were just talking about how annoying the assumption that dark skin = kinky hair and light skin = a more loose texture. My friend is mixed and lighter skinned (white mom and black dad) and has a more kinky texture in its natural state. My hair is pretty much exactly the same as Nap85, and I’m darker skinned so similar to her I get the are you mixed question sometimes. Smh. I was so blessed to have someone like her on yt back in 2012 when I wanted to embrace my natural texture and didn’t know where to start. It was easier to be excited about my own journey watching someone who looked like me go through her own. I know that so many girls/women are going to feel the same about you. As so many ppl have said already representation really does matter so much. There’s a serious lack of 4c hair representation on yt. I hope you and all the 4c beauties push through! I’m rooting for you and Def subscribing 💕

Something you mentioned really touched me: you should JUST let your hair grow for the first year. I think I’m around 4 months in my hair growth and I twist my hair almost everyday or put it in a wrap. More and more, I’m allowing my hair to just be itself (not twisting, not weighing it down by using fewer products, etc.)
I’m so excited to see your channel grow and hope you inspire more people with Type 4 hair :)

I never leave comments on youtube videos but I really appreciate you and your videos! I can relate to you as I'm biracial as well, although I have type 3 hair I really struggled to embrace it and always wore it straight. It's so true that you begin to not only embrace your hair, but embrace yourself and who you are as a whole. I also loved the comment that you made about being an ally to black women and not trying to represent them. I feel the same way and think that its unfortunate that the natural hair movement, particularly when it comes to who is represented in ads and commercials, often has a lot of misrepresentation.
As a side note, you kind of favor Joey King! Best wishes to you.

I find it SO weird how people will always assure me how CURLY their hair USED to be?? I'm like ok? Wtf happened? Cause that shit straight now. LOL Like. They try so hard to convince me their hair is like mine for some reason and I'm 3B-C. I'm half black and light af too so it's hard to tell if people even perceive me as black. I appreciate you talking about the identity crisis that comes with being biracial. It's hard when you don't want to over-step when it comes to the voices of full black or darker skin women, but have still faced discrimination and a sense of not belonging to any community. Excited to see you try out braids and other styles!

I've been looking for a page like yours for years its extremely difficult being biracial with type 4 hair because you are expected to have hair like alicia keys type 3. I have 4a-4b
Being light skinned is also difficult in the sense of speaking on your struggle because I can admit it's not as bad as some women but i still have a struggle. but like you my mom is brown heck my sister is brown skin so I feel one with all black women in a way. I was like the first biracial woman in my family probably since slavery...but now I have so many mixed little cousins that it's not as bad and there are like 3 of them that have kinky 4a and 4b so I dont feel alone. Thank you seeing you I dont feel alone!!

You grow girl! Hair and your channel! I love that nappy comment. It's mostly from people who don't even understand about hair types.

I love that you haven’t done a how to take care of your video. You show us how your learning how to care for your hair. These are the videos I love seeing but are so rare to find. And even more rare is seeing a biracial female with kinky hair who is in love with her fro and doesn’t try to make it something it’s not.

I just want to say as someone that has been watching since the start of the year it’s beautiful to see not just your hair transformation but your transformation as a personn it really shows! You can tell before you weren’t as confident sorta more reserved less vocal maybe not really the right word but i can’t explain it, there’s just a difference in the confidence you ooze. That why I was sort of iffy on you at the start of the year I was like is she going to buckle under the pressure because you could tell it was something new to you or something you weren’t completely comfortable with but the inner growth is beautiful going natural was the best thing you could do you can tell you are way more confident now you came into your own and you’re honestly truthfully UNAPOLOGETICALLY BLACK as you should beee!! 💪🏾✊🏾💫✨
