I’ve been using GIMP for over 10 years and I’ve learned more in the past month watching these videos than I have in the last 10 years combined. I appreciate you, Nick!

Something I taught myself a couple of months ago, I wish this video would've existed back then :D Also theres a preview feature that u can find under Filters > Animation > Playback
This was the first time Some one EVER properly explained how to do something using GIMP lol I have been searching for months. Ppl always leave out the smallest and most important details in such an over complicated program where there seem to be thousands of options.
Your videos are a treasure! I'm trying to create some Emotes for Twitch right now, and your videos are such a good source to learn Gimp - step by step, clear English, with chapters, no unnecessary bla! 🥰
For the 'Creating a layer for each frame' section, I: 1) took the first frame 2) duplicated the layer 3) selected everything in the new layer (Ctrl+A) 4) then used the Unified Transform Tool to rotate the selected items to the positions which would be related to the next frame. You have to anchor the floating transformation layer created after each rotation (via the anchor icon in the lower-right corner of the screen or via the Anchor Layer option in the Layer menu) I didn't do that for a large portion of the frames, and it resulted in most of the frames expanding beyond the image range. Thankfully, the exporting process asks whether you want to resize all of the images. Pick 'yes,' and you're safe.
Great tutorial! One way to save effort is to create one layer only (layer 1) and then duplicate it and rotate it like he did before (pressing shift and rotating twice) and do that with the rest of the layers... you'll get the same result
Omg this is a lifesaver. I have always used Gimp since I was 13 but when it comes to animations the result looked blurry and weird. Now I know. Thank you sir
I think in this case it's easier to make 12 layers with light grey and just fill with dark grey 1 element i next leyers. 90% faster. Anyway i like the process and learnt something new 👍
Thank you for this very helpful video, also you have just reassured me that cancelling my adobe account and moving to Gimp was the right move, you just got sub'd.
Really nice tutorial Nick. I am learning to use Inkscape as well through your channel. Thanks for the time and effort you put into making these useful videos.
thankyou, this was very helpful, though i do have 1 question, is there an easy way to make a static foreground with a gif background, say for example my profile pic, i want the world in the background to rotate but keep the text static?
How to slow the rate down do I lower the number or up it, just made one and the flick rate is like I am rapid blinking, also what do interlace for just curious
I downloaded gimp 2.10.22 and I don't have all the options you seem to have? Next to my 'move tool' I have 'rectangle select tool'. All together I only have 10 tools to pick from while your is showing 39? I tried going through the setting and whatnot, but don't see anything to enable more tool options?
Hi I dont know if you found out by now, but for me I have less tools too. I found out that when you hover above a tool with your mouse, it'll show what other tools there are under that category. I was also lost too before lol, but then ya it tells you what keyboard commands you could press to use the hidden tools too.
would it be possible to speed up the process by not erasing the individual parts over and over but doing it just once and then just rotate the duplicates like you did to create the pattern earlier ?
I tried that initially. For whatever reason the animation had the rectangles bouncing around, so there seems to be a lack of precision with the rotate tool. There's also pixelation that results each time you rotate an object.
i think because every animation we create there won't be a same object with a different angled position. if it is an animation with few different peoples , objects and texts simple copy and paste and rotate wouldn't right. so he explained the basic principle for any animation single outing one object should be on a single layer and removing other details on the particular layer.
I followed the lesson, I think. When I got to the export I go error messages from procedure gimp-image-convert', Cannot export RG color, and GIF image plug-in could not save image. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I've had a litle older version of gimp. I think it was 2.10.14 an then I've downloaded the newest versions and now there are these "stacks" of tools, so not every tool is displayed. Is it because of the new version or can I change it
My recommendation is Inkscape for logos, and Inkscape only exports in PNG, that's what most social media and video editing software uses. Also, just to note - not all social media pages are created equal! You will have to adjust your designs to fit each social media page and avatar icon.

Same here. I started learning GIMP with Logos By Nick and I'm pretty good now. Thank you dear brother. God bless you.
You’ve been very instrumental in my learning graphic design and knowing which tools to use.

Very nice, well explained and easy to understand.
I swear I learn something new on every video... rounded corners selection? How did I miss that all these years wtf!

Nick, I really love your videos. Just curious @7:09, once you had '1' created, why didn't you just duplicate the layer and rotate it?
I’ve learnt so much from Brother Saporito. Bless ‘im.
Great tutorial Nick! Thanks a ton!
The rotate tool would be lazier to apply on 12 duplicates layer than the eraser imho.
Thank you. For making it too easy
How to slow the rate down do I lower the number or up it, just made one and the flick rate is like I am rapid blinking, also what do interlace for just curious
This is really good, im using inkscape to create a FUI for small touch screens, and Gimp would be awesome for making the animations

Is it possible to make a gif with a transparent background? I only found tutorials with images

Could you do an inkscape vs gravit designer video please.
Hi Nick, thanks for the tutorial. Would you like to make a tutorial on how to edit MOV file in GIMP?
AWESOME!!!
Nick can you tell me how do you increase the size of brush sliders in gimp?
Awesome man!
Great video
Question: is there a reason why you just didn't make the 12 layers first and then rotate them? Just curious!
i think because every animation we create there won't be a same object with a different angled position. if it is an animation with few different peoples , objects and texts simple copy and paste and rotate wouldn't right. so he explained the basic principle for any animation single outing one object should be on a single layer and removing other details on the particular layer.
Wish there were a tutorial for adding text over video. It seems like something that SHOULD be simple, but ends up taking forever.
When i export my photo from Gimp, and i open it on windows photo viewer and i zoom it,it always lag,can u tell me how i can fix it
Hey this is awesome
Thank you very much!
Sweet, cool, and thanks.
im confused on how to get my solid object to rotate like your objects. but it fills in the background as it spins
i have a problem. i want to merge 2 layers but i can't. u know what could be the cause?
Why not copy the layer at around 7:30 and rotate it?
hi, its possible to preview gif on GIMP without export?
As-salāmu‘alaikum wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuh.
I thank you for the information as well as for the information in the other videos.
Thank you for another good tutorial. Is there a chance to make a tutorial for making an animated svg with Inkscape?
Excellent! Nick , do you have any video about font that you recommend?
I followed the lesson, I think. When I got to the export I go error messages from procedure gimp-image-convert', Cannot export RG color, and GIF image plug-in could not save image. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I figured it out. Change the image precision to 8bit, then change the mode to indexed. The export then worked.
Awesome tutorial thank u...is it possible to do this in inkscape?

I think it's the newest versions of GIMP. I use keyboard shortcuts it's far faster and easier.
@@noelj62 Me too but don't remember all, so I have to search for the wanted tool. Do you know if I can change it?

does this work on a background? Im trying to create a pixel movement over my artwork. Does it still work?
Nice!
Good to know!
when i open the gif file, it only shows as png files, it's not being gif, any solutions on that? :(
i have a question Sensei
when i create a logo is this copy right ?when i watch your steps ?
Hi!
Should i use gimp or inscape for making logos for youtube and social media and what format should i save it to?
Thanks!
My recommendation is Inkscape for logos, and Inkscape only exports in PNG, that's what most social media and video editing software uses.
Also, just to note - not all social media pages are created equal! You will have to adjust your designs to fit each social media page and avatar icon.
I expected of the lenght of this clip, that U would explain the few settings in detail. I tried them out but could not wrap my head araound.
