You work so very hard to feed and care for your family. I can't imagine cooking three meals a day, home schooling, renovating, caring for livestock and children ,cleaning and filming vlogs like you do. I know your husband works just as hard and your older children help, but you folks are amazing! Plus I have never heard you whine or make excuses about burnout or not filming a scheduled vlog on time. Wow!

Wow, Lisa! Such great and detailed instruction. I'm 77 and I certainly don't need to food prepare anymore like you do, but I absolutely love your videos.... They bring back such warm and wonderful memories of raising children on home cooking and canning, and teaching them along the way to be responsible and productive. Keep up the good work, sweet Lisa! You are a great example of God's great love.

This is a game changing tip about butternut squash. Put the whole squash in the oven and bake at 350 for an hour ish. The pull it out and cut it open and just scoop out the flesh. No chopping and peeling.

Superwoman! I love watching you cook. I also enjoy seeing the different vegetables that you incorporate into the meals. I would like to get some vegetables and pickle them. I’ve been watching a couple from Sweden that pickle their vegetables. I know it is good for you and helps with natural probiotics. You never fail to impress me with all the work you do. Such a fireball of energy even when pregnant. Thank you for opening your home to us and sharing such amazing things.

You can put a glass pie pan directly from the freezer into a cold oven then turn the oven on. The lower heat as the oven starts to preheat helps to slowly raise the temp if the glass pie pan and begin defrosting the pie.

If the pie leaks out cold liquid while baking this could still cause the glass dish to break.

The Brits make spatchcock chicken quite often, even on the grill outdoors. It's a form of butterflying used for poultry, fowl, game birds. It's interesting that your children do not like pumpkin, but do like butternut squash. Often they just love or hate gourds or vine veggies. I loved the things you prepared and will probably use them over this autumn and winter. I do a chicken/green chili pepper/white bean chili and white beans taste really good in that.

You can also prep your oatmeal in the pan water salt raisins cinnamon. Put the lid on it and in the morning cook it, which is how I do it =) I didnt realize ppl didnt know how to cook a chicken that way? My mom used that method ! You can use any beans in chili red beans kidney beans pinto you name it you can use it. I like chili on baked spuds or you can do french fries. Cant say I've ever used pasta or rice? seems odd to me but ok

Lord willing, we're going to butcher 50-some chickens in mid-October and I may freeze several in spatchcock form~~ready to go! I love the idea of spatchcock, even though I haven't tried it. I like to freeze whole chickens and this will be another way to do it~~and they'll store more efficiently in the freezer as space is a premium.
Oh my yes~~canned tomatoes are a must have! I love the fire roasted one, too. I normally can my own tomatoes, but this year our toms didn't go nuts producing. :/
Love freezing pot pies! I need to look at your recipe as it may be much better than mine! My son's family recently had the C word and he was glad to find one of Momma's turkey pot pies in his freezer. :)
Great meal ideas! You always inspire me. God bless.

I love the way you say, 'Lord willing'! That is so amazing the Lord shows you to speak about future plans that way.
      ♥️
      James 4
      Do Not Boast about Tomorrow
13Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. 16But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. 17Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

@@cozetteoconnor1289 Amen! We don't know what tomorrow holds, but He does. Sometimes I will say, "I'm going to do thus and so next week/year/summer, etc." and it comes to my mind that I may 'plan' to do those things, but I can't claim tomorrow in that way. I can only claim that He will sustain me in all of my tomorrows, whether they're here or with Him. The Lord tells us to consider Him in all our ways (Proverbs 3:5-7). The Lord has been good to me and to my family and I praise Him in the highest for his free gift of salvation! (PS....Cozette is a pretty name!)

Hi Lisa. I have been a subscriber probably in the last 5 or 6 months. I’ve learned about your UA-cam channel from Both Jamerrill from Large Family Table and from Sarah from Our Tribe of Many. I am 63 and started my sourdough starter back in Sept. but before I started baking sourdough bread , I have watched your videos over and over again until I was confident to make the breads, mind you the first couple of breads didn’t turn out out. But finally I started having success… I love watching your videos. In this video I saw that you had many Zucchini.May I suggest making zucchini bread, muffins. Even pasta with zucchini with Bachamel sauce it’s delicious. The first tie I had was in Italy summer of 2007 visiting my parents who live in Italy.I fell in love with it and have been making this dish for my family ever since. I am not sure if there is a recipe for it on line, but I can share it if you would like it..

Yes it would be my pleasure.. I am assuming your wanting me to share the Pasta Zucchini recipe.
      Well here it is.
      1. dice one onion.
      2. Cut your zucchini in half lengthwise. Then sliced the zucchini ( half moon ) shape.
      1. in a pot add olive oil, then add your onions sautéed for a minute then add the zucchini slices.
      And sauté
Then in another pot, make a roux once your roux is ready, add milk, salt, and pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg. cook until the sauce thickens but not too thick. You just want it creamy when the sauce is ready add it to the onions and zucchini, then put a pot of water on and cook your pasta (we usually cook Penne pasta )and when the pasta is done, you add the sauce to the pasta then you’re ready to serve.
I hope you and your family love it.

    • @linabonar3647
      @linabonar3647 Рік тому

Also you can make zucchini fritters.
Taste your zucchini, very small and put it in a bowl. Add a couple of beaten eggs in the bowl. Add flour salt to taste. Mix it all together. If you find it’s too thick add another egg at a time. If you find it’s too watery add a little bit of flour. you want it to be a little thick but pourable.
Them fry in a pan with half inch of lard, or oil. Cook each side until golden colour.

I took homemade tomato sauce and put hamburger in it without frying first…makes the meat disperse in small pieces……I also put a rack in the pressure canner with that sauce and I put stuffed peppers on that rack….so the sauce was flavored with the peppers and they both cooked happily together in the instant pot. 2 meals …one pot.
I love to cook two dinners at once…..like spatchcock chicken and halved potatoes cooked together along with veggies……then the halved potatoes can be smashed and browned till crispy and add sausage links to brown also……some fried eggs along with this is so good.
I make hard boiled eggs and have them as snacks for my grandkids when they come….a protein snack.
I made a large batch of barley then I had some for soup, some for putting baked sweet potatoes in it and some made a great breakfast hot cereal with warm cream, raisins and maple syrup.
I miss cooking for my six kids……but I’ve been doing a lot of prep work just to have on hand incase the system shuts down as they are saying…….I bought a freezer just for meats and I’ve been dehydrating with my Garden Master dehydrator to save on freezer space…..amazing 2 lb bag of green beans fits in a quart mason jar…..sweet potatoes, carrots and squash dehydrated powders down to small amounts…..great for casseroles.
Do you make casseroles and noodle dishes?

@@jennadanielescobar4440 I'm 34.5 weeks. She's a few days ahead or behind me I'm not exactly sure. Yes low babies can be painful. Doing the forward leaning inversion from spinning babies a couple times a day helps alleviate some of my pain, and sitting on a yoga ball or even just the very edge of the chair or couch with my legs wide so I don't feel like I'm sitting on baby's head feels good. I'm pretty much counting down days at this point. This is baby 3 for me and I never make it to my due date. We expect this baby to be here around 37 weeks so I only have 2.5 weeks left! Good luck to you!
Edit: you could also try a womb wrap or a support belt but I find for me at this point in pregnancy it only makes things more uncomfortable. I know some women swear by them though and I have many that I love to use when I'm not as far along to help my back and hips

Are you using fresh milled einkorn flour for the pie crust? I am just starting to mill my own grains and I haven’t been able to make mine look and paste as light and butter as I’d like yet, even after sifting. Any tips for me?

I definitely need to get better with meal prep. Everything looks so good and my kids love pot pies so I'm taking notes, lol. Thanks for the inspiration!🍁🍂

You are an amazing woman! Have you heard of "Living on a Dime"? They have delicious frugal easy recipes that you can adapt with your healthy ingredients. I bet they would collaborate with you, I think you would love some of their easier meals.
I use the Instant Pot to make chili, ground beef batched, and pot pie filling. I have a 2nd nonstick insert that I use. We fire up the IP every morning, rotating pasta, rice, vegetable soup and potatoes based meals. We eat out of it for breakfast even!

From my experience, I've done it before! It's similar to tinfoil, so it's oven safe! The package will say if its oven safe.

Where do you get the einkorn. I bought a half a pound bag for almost 10$ at our healthfood store... aaaaahhh that's like 1 loaf of bread eaten in 1.5 days 😳😱

Einkorn flour has a different hydration so if you aren’t using einkorn you should use a different pie crust recipe

Is there anyway to make some of these vegetarian? Or is this crazy talk? Can you just substitute bone broth for veggie broth in the chili and omit the meat?
