This woman basically voiced my entire childhood before I reached my teenage years. I loved her as Chuckie Finster and Dexter. She is just a legend.

Yeah mine too. And I didn’t know she died a few years ago until I came across this video. She died the same year as Casey Kasem did and the voice actress of Esmeralda and Zoisite from when the Salior moon anime was dubbed back in the 90s. She died from cancer. But anyway, Christine’s role as Dexter it was my favorite. Dexter’s laboratory was pretty fun. Boy genius, sister always bugging him 😂.
I remember that morning of December when it was announced on morning radio. It was then that yet another part of my childhood had been torn away. Having grown up in the early -mid 90's I'll always have fond memories of her as the voice of Gosslyn Mallard, Chuckie, and of course my favorite of all Dexter's laboratory.
RIP to that lovely talented lady. She will be missed..
I graduated from Layton High School with Christine. We always knew she'd do great things, and she is missed by the entire class of '81. Thank you!

When Cavanaugh voiced Dexter in Dexter’s Laboratory, she sounded like her herself as a teenager.

I don't she gets enough of the recognition she deserves. She was the voice of many iconic characters, particularly Dexters Lab- my all time favorite cartoon show.
90s cartoons would be incomplete without Dexter's Lab, I absolutely adored his slurry stretched-out accent ❤❤

She retired for acting in 2001 and retired for voice acting in 2003 to focus on her family.
CROSSOVER ANIMATION STUDIOS afterwards Dexter was voiced by Candi Milo in the last season of Dexter’s Laboratory and Chuckie was voiced by Nancy Cartwright in later seasons of Rug Rats and All Grown Up

Funny thing is that I never notice that she played Goslyn after watching a couple episodes of Darkwing Duck until I recently did some research on her work! She is defiantly a very talented woman & beloved by people with her charming soothing voice! I was so sad by her loss after my dad told me the news. May she RIP & I'll always adore her work in cartoons, especially when she plays Chuckie & Dexter!!😭♥️♥️♥️♥️

She will always remain my favorite voice actor. I’m so happy I grew up hearing the voices she’s done in cartoons. Every time I watch Rugrats I always miss her. Still, she was such a blessing to have on the show.
I came here because I was watching Dexter’s Laboratory tonight and wanted to know who did his voiceover. I’ve known about her and all her many voiceovers but did not know she had passed away until tonight. A very talented young lady. May she Rest in the bosom of Jesus. 🙏🏾

She was basically THE voice actress in the 90's involved in most kid's entertainment. Probably because her voice sounded so much like a kid, She did work for just about every studio it seemed like. Every time I hear Cavanaugh's voice it's like stepping back into the 90's, truly unique and nostalgic to the era. In my opinion her best characters were Oblina and Gosalyn and she seemed like a down to earth kinda person too..like the type of person you could just kick it with.
Agreed. Plus Cavanaugh had quite the resume with characters like Chuckie, Babe, Dexter, and many others.
@@bradyryan5105 She was diagnosed with ALS in December 2001. That's why she retired. Her Health had deteriorated about 2 years after her Husband's Death in 1999.

For those wondering why she wasn’t active in 2001, she retired from voice acting to focus on taking care of her family before her unfortunate death
I can think of two you forgot:
1. Bunny from the PPG’s.
2. The Disney Channel bumper announcer from 1991-1995.

Imo, this actress definately has the sweetest and most precious voice and it absolutely works with child characters. Listening to everyone in this video just brings back my inner child.

Wow, I used to love Aahhh!!!! Real Monsters. Other kids used to think I was a weirdo for watching that show but I didn't care because I always was and always will be a weirdo, hahaha. I used to love Dexter's Lab too. I had no idea she did his voice. Holy shit, the McDonald's movies too??? Hahaha my brother had every single movie from them and we would watch them over and over again all the time, hahaha. Thank you for sharing this video with us, I absolutely loved it.

Chuckie was her best character, with Dexter as a close second, wasn't she also Bunny in That one Powerpuff girls episode?
Yes, she was... a little surprised SMR forgot that one; that episode ripped my heart out and trod all over it, and I sincerely wished that Bunny had gotten to live/been brought back to life later on given she was a beautiful character with so much to offer. As if I didn't have enough reasons to hate the PPG reboot, but that's a whole DIFFERENT kettle of fish worth its own discussion/rant.
Seriously though, Christine Cavanaugh was a real treasure - an underrated fixture of so much 90s animation, even though she retired over a decade before her untimely death (to spend more time with her family, which was in hindsight the right choice) we're all poorer for her loss.
Thank you for making my childhood the greatest childhood in the universe. I miss Dexters Laboratory, the reason I am a scientist today and a complete dorkster! But I’m not complaining. R.I.P. long over due one.

Ok, so I’ve just learned that Christine Cavanaugh has passed a few years back. I’ve also learned recently that she has voiced so many character’s that were so familiar in my childhood. Her voice work has clearly brought so much joy to millions. RIP. Taking your voice and their characters to my dreams tonight.

She also did one somewhat obscure anime movie called Tottoi aka Secret of the Seals, she voiced the main character a boy named Antonio nicknamed Tottoi by the residents of the island he comes to stay at, basically the story is he discovers a rare breed of seal and tries to protect the mother and her pup from poachers.
I didn't know she passed away until a couple years ago, when I saw a fan picture with three of her characters commemorating her.
It suddenly hit me like I lost a LONG TIME friend.

I first knew her as Dexter in Dexter's Laboratory. I too noticed how every voice on here was pretty much some form of Dexter's voice.
Wow I didn’t know she had play so many voices in so many of my childhood cartoons. All I knew was Chuckie Finster from Rugrats! Now that I’m listening to them I can see how the voice resemble from the cartoon characters she did.

She was best of the best. I loved all her voices... but my favorite two were Gosalyn Mallard and Bunnie D'Coolette. She is missed and loved to this very day.
