Or better yet for platform 9 and 3/4; turn up at King's Cross at 10/11PM when the Harry Potter shop is closed. The trolley is always there - you won't be able to get a professional picture but as long as you've got a friend to take it jobs a good'un.

-Borough market is an excellent place for food (it's a food market if you're not familiar), they have a website for opening times.
-Wanted to add to your recommendation of Greenwich park that it has a great view of Canary Wharf from afar and is generally a nice park
-There's a decent market in Portabello Road at certain times
-Going to the top of The Shard really is awesome and a little cheaper if you book in advance (note that lunch time is often busy)
-There's a restaurant that looks to have a cool view at the top of The Gherkin
-Covent Garden often has things going on there and loads of shops including a really cool market, there's stuff nearby too (comic book shop, international sweets shop, etc). I think there's a railway museum or something along those lines there too. Awesome christmas decorations there at the right time of year as well
-Excel often has conventions going on (there's about two comicons that happen there for example)
-Going to a play at the Globe Theatre is a really cool experience, it felt very authentic when I went a few years back
That's all I can think of at the top of my head, as I say, there's always something going on in London

My infrastructure recommendation - and I know this is something you've done, Tom, because you've posted a GIF of yourself there, though I was almost disappointed that it was a GIF rather than a longer video - is the ULTra personal rapid transit ("podcar") system at Terminal Five in Heathrow. It's a series of automated driverless taxi-like vehicles. It's simultaneously incredibly space-age and incredibly mundane and ordinary, which makes it even better.

The Docklands Museum is free and you can get to it using the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) which I always find quite a fun way to travel. More like a monorail in the theme park called London.
There is a lot of free stuff in London, but probably obvious - Natural History Museum and Science Museum are next door to each other but both free. Go early in the morning to avoid queues.
For an interesting pub, try the Argyll Arms near Oxford Circus - built in 1742, but with some Victorian additions, it is quite an interesting place to go for a drink!

Thanks, Matt & Tom! My family just spent four days in London and in addition to the regular tourist sites, we visited Bletchley Park, the National Museum of Computing, and Clue Quest London on your recommendations. All of them were great! We also saw the Crystal Palace dinosaurs and found the secret turny-button thingies under the pedestrian crossing boxes. Wish we'd had time to see more of the things you suggested. Love your channel(s)!

A few suggestions in the area near the Sir John Soane's Museum:
    - The other side of Lincoln's Inn Fields is the Hunterian Museum. Great for body parts in jars and other things on the history of surgery.
    - The Inns of Court - Grey's Inn, Lincoln's Inn, Inner Temple and Middle Temple are worth looking around. They're surprisingly hidden away. Particularly Inner Temple and Middle Temple, which you can get to off the Strand/Fleet Street or Embankment. This is where barristers used to be trained and where many Chambers are. The Temple Church is a really interesting church dating back to the Crusades. You have to pay to go in, but it's impressive from the outside too.
    - Royal Courts of Justice. Just go in and sit in a case for a little while! Although this may be more interesting for prospective law students, I realise.
    - St Clement Danes - the RAF Church. It's got some interesting stuff about the RAF in there. Outside there's an infamous statue of Bomber Harris.
If you're near the Barbican, go to Postman's Park, which is a couple of minutes away. There's an interesting memorial set up to people who sacrificed their lives to save others, which is quite poignant. Also, they didn't mention that the Museum of London is at the Barbican - perhaps because it's a bit more well-known.
If you find brutalist architecture interesting and you're near Russell Square (perhaps you've just been visiting the British Museum), have a look at the Brunswick Centre. It's also right next to the Foundling Museum - a museum about a home for abandoned children.
If you're here in summer and it's actually hot, go to a lido or a swimming pond! There are several, but to name a few: Serpentine (Hyde Park), Hampstead Pools, Parliament Hill Lido and Richmond Lido.

I (last year) went on the Hidden London tour of Aldwych/Strand (another disused station) and it’s really cool. That train in Tom’s photo is the last unrefurbished Mk1 1972 stock train (it’s only 4 carriages long) and is one of the last trains anywhere on the tube that has a section in the driving motor carriages for the guard’s door controls.

Pro tip: If you like Hawksmoor, go to Foxlow instead. Same people, same meat from the same butcher, half the price. I actually prefer Foxlow, even if it was the same price. Much more chilled atmosphere, less pretentious... RibEye is just as good. No Porterhouse though if your going all out and want to spend £80 on a steak that doesn't taste better than a RibEye

So thanks for the link! If England somehow manages not to explode and sink into the ocean, it might be of use to me yet ^_^

Horniman Museum! Got friends on the Youth Panel for that. If you're a young person - I think it miiiiight extend into early-mid-twenties, but not sure - they put on great events yearly with local bands, disco rooms and the chance to roam around the Museum at night. They're usually free as well - highly recommend it :D
EDIT: Also, the South Bank is always lovely, especially at night - I've been on walks down there of an evening just for the sake of it. Shakespeare's Globe is also super awesome, and catch a play if you can (I thiiiiiiiink they do tickets at a reduced rate for students, and they certainly do if you're willing to be a groundling)
