A little PSA regarding the dating of a Baguette via the inner hardware )wall of text incoming):
From '97 to '00: the inner plaque is a metallic square, the older ones have a round magnetic button without any visible engravings ( there is one FF on the rivet that secures the button to the bag but is usually hidden by the lining). Around '99 the square magnetic button is introduced, the square button should be engraved like the current ones and the zipper has to be metallic and properly finished, plus the zipper pull is ALWAYS the FF cut out (the small circular "fendi roma" zipper pull is something Fendi used at the time but never in the Baguette and I don't think it has been used since)
From '00 to '07: the inner plaque is the rectangle seen on this Baguette ( 7:14 ), the magnetic button is usually the square one but a few bag designs do come with the round UNMARKED one (up until today we still get a few bags with the round button but it should NEVER have any kind of engraving*). The zipper pull is a sturdy rectangle with a small rectangular cut out on one of the corners
From '07 to '14(ish): an inner mirror is added besides the plaque, still a big rectangle like in the previous era with the word BAGUETTE prominently added at the top plus a little legend announcing either the 10th anniversary of the bag or the fact that it is a re-edition for the 15th anniversary. The rectangular zipper pull is replaced for a leather tab after the 15th anniversary and from '07 to '17 extra hardware is added to the regular size to fully allow the removal of the strap bucles/D rings. Surprisingly we didn't get a 20th anniversary collection and all we got was a replacement of the Baguette FF buckle for the single F within a circle (see "F is Fendi" earrings)
'014(ish) to today: the inner hardware is basically the same as today, small rectangular metal plaque or just debossing on the leather, pointy zipper pull, and the random option to remove the strap hardware
A more exact date can be reached based on the FF buckle regarding non-runway pieces and carry-over styles like the shearling zucca or the very bag on this video which is now being re-released a few times besides the 25th anniversary i other colors
BTW Dayle, there's an extra FENDI marking on the Baguette that I don't think you have discovered yet 😉
*The numbers sometimes present on the slim part of it are not a serial number for the bag, they're a number put by the producer of the button and they're usually only present on the cheaper versions of them sold by craft suppliers, any respectable brand will always get the ones without any markings since they start at around 1USD x piece vs 0.2USD x piece and this isn't even the wholesale price

I guess vintage pieces are easier to authenticate because they weren’t doing as many fakes especially on not so common pieces…..however do you really think they can authenticate via photos on most pieces?
I think they use a combination of AI and humans!
