I loved this song the first time I heard it on the country station out of baton rouge....i was a cross country trucker BACK then in the early 90s and I'm a proud black man and I love good smooth music....period...good music knows no COLOR
This is one of the absolute most beautiful songs of my generation. Her voice and the instrumentals still bring me to tears all these years later. Bravo, bravo!!
Don't know why but for some reason every time I hear this song it brings out raw emotions. Waters my eyes. Just a beautiful great song. Can't explain why it does that to me but it's awesome.
Amen to the only one, I met my beautiful wife when she was 12 and I was15,she was too young then and life separated us then 6 years later we met again, I'm 63 now she's 60 I still think she's the most beautiful woman in the world
Heard this on my mom’s cassette in her ‘89 Mercedes. It’s 2023 now, and I’m a mom myself, and this is still one of my favorite songs. It was always just me and my mom growing up, some of my best/favorite memories include my mom. This song is one of those memories. 💗
My English teacher turned me into Bonnie Raitt she is one subject I could write a lot of papers on her she covers so much of what I and all of us go thru time time to time she inspires me makes me question a lot of things such as my past and present so my next 3o years what would be the best yet just like Mrs Raitt she just keeps on getting better and better
So beautiful. It is unfortunate the blues died out of mainstream music. It might teach listeners of a younger age a more developed way of looking and feeling about the world we live in.
This isn't country. It has country influence, but this is blues. Its soft blues, but its blues. It has touches of folk, rock, lots of pop....that's what is great! You don't have to be into genres, you can be into songs for their own unique recipe.
Thank you Bonnie for your blues legacy Saw you on your recent UK 2023 tour and I continue to give thanks for the sublime performance you gave to the good citizens of Oxford. Just fantastic...
When Bonnie Raitt gets into this kind of groove, she is one of a kind. This song is one of her many brilliant songs. It has a load of great musical elements, as well as, this message of hope for all those who think they are the only one who is lonely. I really dig this song.
Yeah. It is hard to go through life alone, wanting love, and end up losing again and again thinking something is wrong with you. There is hope though. Keep your heart open and one day when you least expect it, love will show up and stay with you. It happened to me, it can happen to you.
I'm Black, and this music is typically not my scene at all. But if it were not for a brief stint working at Walgreens, I would never know this song. It's a classic and I love the lyrics. Really smooth.
Walgreens is a great chain - have been shopping there since college years - and my dad shopped there a generation before me!! Useful products, great promotions -- AND they pipe in wonderful music to shop by🎶🎵👍
I was at Starbucks and this song was playing. I remember this song when I was younger but never knew who she was until now. She always made my hair stand up every time I heard her music.
Firm believer in the idea of growing into an artists music. I go through these phases where I finally adopt old music as my own. I think its a bit supernatural sometimes, too when you finally understand or stumble upon a song that's been there a long time, maybe all your life and then all at once you finally get it when you need it most. I have always liked Bonnie Raitt but I know I still need to discover it on a deeper level. Beatles are on my radar this year too. Last years "discovery" was Tom Petty, prior to that Sting. A few years before that Steely Dan. Right now I am also growing into Springsteen. The River was one of my first albums, on vinyl even! When I was a kid my mom signed me up for Columbia and gave me all the freebies for Christmas so I didn't choose it for myself or even really like it much less understand it. But those songs are locked away and every now and then I hum something from it and then find it on UA-cam, listen again and maybe another track and I always love it. Hearing things again for the first time is one of the biggest joys of my adult life.
I have seen her live in concert. And if you appreciate Blues and rock and how they can blend and how lyrics can impact an individual. You would clearly understand why Bonnie Raitt is loved and what she brought to music. She set out to follow her passion in music in a genre that was heavily held by males and predominately aging black men.
Like someone else on here mentioned, like a fine wine! Bonnie's turn at true superstardom did not come until she was 40 years old. She had the benefit of experience and maturity by the time Nick of Time and Luck of the Draw were recorded. She knew who she was, what she wanted to sing, and how she wanted it to sound.
@@michaellangevin3943 I used to hitch hike the New York thruway from college gym to college gym to hear her play in the early 70's. Never got to see her with Little Feat but with Jackson a few times. Folk who discovered her later ain't no fool. They are the reason we still get to see her live like I just did here in ABQ, and she's just as sweet 50 years later.
This is my favorite Bonnie Raitt song. I saw her at Wolf Trap theater in Virginia when I was younger, and remember just being completely blown away by her...even now, the lyrics never seem outdated. Musicians today can't hold a candle to the lady phenoms of the past.
Worked in a bbq joint in Knox tn for about a decade and this song would come on a station randomly throughout the time. Always loved it! Bonnie can’t be touched and man she made work groovy for a few minutes every now and then through the years. A talent no doubt.
i was a rhodie for 35 years, & to this day i will tell anyone who ask, bonnie raitt was my absolute favorite... the first time i heard her was actually at the first show i worked for her, i was just takin 5, sittin on a road case on the side of the stage, havin a cup of coffee, & then, then she took the stage... honetly , i wasnt expecting much because im ashamed to admit, i was not familiar with her work (keep in mind this was 30 years ago) ...but all i can say is WOW! i didnt have a show call (meaning i didnt haveta go back at it till the show was over) & i sat there on that road case in awe... witnessing a magical experience... pure, raw, no auto tune of piped in fill, no bs, just a group of musicians havin a jam session, & we, the audience, were lucky enough to be allowed to witness it... what an amazing lady, & an amazing band, & im pretty sure the set list went out the window, cause they were just jamming, feeding off each other, havin fun, & that my friend is when the magic always happens. if its in ur soul, if u "feel" it, u create a symbiotic relationship with the other musicians around u... u stop "thinking" & start "playing" ...heart & soul! ...& this woman, this classy lady, has it... she has emotion, passion, & the lady has SOUL! god bless & thank u for sharing ur music with us!
Hi, from the UK, what a great song this is. Finally got to see Bonnie in concert, after a 30 year wait, at the London Palladium, last saturday. At 72 years old, i was amazed that she still had an incredible voice, and she plays some mean slide guitar. No fancy production, or lighting, just 5 great musicians, doing what they love. Brilliant show! So glad i got the chance to see see her!

I heard this song come on the radio, while waiting in a doctor's office, and the girl behind the counter said, " OMG! I love this song! Wonder who does this?" I told her "it's Bonnie Raitt" she goes, " whose that?" I said, "oh, she's a singer, female singer." The girl was so clueless.
YALL. I saw her play Jazz fest a few years ago, and she killed it but it was heartbreaking. She kept talking (to a massive, chattering crowd) about how disappointed she was in ppl not being present and really listening to the music. She seemed sad and very disconnected from everyone in the crowd. Anyway, don't talk at Bonnie Raitt's concerts. 🥺

Miss, there is one of your many songs that just goes right through me, but I just can't remember the lyrics or the name so I'm just going to listen to every single one of them until I find it. I saw you do it when you opened for Bill Cosby years ago in Toronto, and I miss it so.

my favorite Bonnie Raitt song 🩷🩷
It's difficult to believe this song is about thirty years old. Seems like yesterday. Great song.
She could sing the phone book and it would bring a tear to my eye. The best voice of all time imo
Phone book would be cool. Not much of a plot, but what a cast of characters.

I love Bonnie Raitt
I've spent hours trying to explain to my music-nerd buddies why Bonnie Raitt is awesome. They won't hear any of it. Their loss, I guess.
their loss or their stupidity ;) LOL some people have NO taste in tunes Nick James , apparently YOU do!! :)
Bonnie Raitt's voice just sings to me:)
Nick James stop trying. I'm a biracial woman half black and I know how special she is
Nichelle Johnson What the hell does being biracial have anything to do with it? Good lord
at least u know "MUSIC" WHEN U HEAR IT!!!! G good on u!!!
How is this not her most popular song? No one even mentions it. This is her best!
Giving your music another chance after many years. How did I not like this before? I guess maturity brings appreciation for real talent.

wow; Bonnie gets it
Absolutely love love every one of her songs
There are VERY few artists that make my neckhair stand up - there's Aretha and there's Bonnie ...
I was in a daze, movin' in the wrong direction
Feelin' that I'd always be the lonely one
Then I saw your face, on the edge of my horizon
Whisperin' that I wasn't the only one
The lonely one
One chance intervention, see what it can signify
The slightest misapprehension, baby
And we'd have passed each other by
When I heard your sweet voice callin'
Saw your light come shinin' through
I couldn't stop my heart from turning
Churnin' out my love for you
I was in a daze, movin' in the wrong direction
Feelin' that I'd always be the lonely one
Then I saw your face, on the edge of my horizon
Whisperin' that I wasn't the only one
That lonely one
True love or perfection
It seems like it's overdue
Then just when you least expect it
It comes sneakin' up on you
When I thought that I was dreaming
Felt your body close to mine
Now love takes on a different meaning
Together till the end of time
I was in a daze, movin' in the wrong direction
Feelin' that I'd always be the lonely one
When I saw your face, through the web of my confusion
Whisperin' that I was not the only one
The lonely one, oh the lonely one, ooh baby
Not the only one
I'm not the only one
I'm not the only, only, only one, baby, ooh
I am not the only one

Yes one of my favorite songs by Bonnie Raitt keep going girl
I lived in KC, MO at that time. My little girl and I knew all of the lyrics to the whole cassette!!
First song that I listened to this 2021 year. What a beautiful voice and person. Am I not the only one that thinks this?
LOVEMESOMEBONNIE🧡
I adore that raspy soul of her voice. She has such a bluesy southern Belle style even though she is from California.
Her Dad was John Raitt, of Broadway fame.
Billy Joe Riley California is not a southern state so how are you able to put the term southern belle in the same sentence as California???
Walter Pewen ok nobody cares.
This was my song in high school
Love Bonnie!!
Really like to see her Dad here in this video. Glad they reconciled.
