- This is the second winner of one million dollars. Enjoy! I don't own the clip.
NOTE: This was first uploaded by mecha03, but he deleted this video and others because he uploads videos for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
I'm pretty sure I wasn't this smart when I was in 5th grade
Same here
Carson Libbey agreed Alannah Hurley
Laz3rSharkz Most of the questions I've seen asked (just by watching youtube videos) are fairly easy, I doubt they'd have to be fed the answers.
Yeah i'm pretty sure at this time, they just wanted people to know the 50 states, the continents and oceans but whatever.
Alannah Hurley you have the same name of me and I'm in 5th grade
No normal 5th grader that does not live in Maine would ever know this answer.
ik i dont even know XD
hell i don't live in maine and i knew that answer right off the back i live in ny but i knew that answer
17 year old living in Maine.
Lol I live in Maine
this comment is funnier before you hear the question lol
well he is a Nobel prize winning Professor so he should wbe smarter than a 5th grader
Chris McDaniel But the 1,000,000 Dollar Question is geography.
+Death Reaper what does that have to do with his comment?
+Dennis G he's a Nobel Prize Winning Professor in Physics
iskandar hakimi ..I understand that but being smart as he is should have a better shot than your average contestant.
+Chris McDaniel Just because you have a Nobel Prize does not mean you know everything in this world, look at Obama
This guy is adorable. His little dance when he won was so cute haha
i think his PhD and Nobel Prize in astrophysics made him smarter than most humans on the planet...not just 5th graders..
I didn't learn any of this stuff in elementary 😥
he got more money one night than getting the nobel prize haha!
JJ W Dude you don't be a physicist to earn money. That is his interest and interest is bigger than money.
The nobel prize comes with a cash prize also, about $1.4 million in 2019
You DO get a million dollars for winning a Nobel Prize
The funny thing is that I got this question in my 7th grade Social Studies class months before I watched this episode, just shows you that actually paying attention in class does help you in life.
my name is Tina Leger and I love the game are you smater than afifth great show I didn't know why they took it off the TV they need to put it back on TV. Thanks again Tina Leger
Seeing a Nobel prize winner and physicist do a happy dance just makes me happy for some reason shahs
Isn't George Smoot a nobel-prize winning Physicist?
***** yes yes thats him
elyas2208 I knew he looked familiar
said it in the first 30 sec man.
+silvershock82 lol yes.
If they put jeopardy winners on this show
+Brett Friedman Ken Jennings was a contestant.. sadly he walked out for 500K and he knew the answer to the 1M question.. u know ken jennings..
This? This is beautiful... I've been staring at it for 5 hours
The "hard" questions on this show ARE taught in that grade level. It's just stuff you forget immediately after the test because it isn't taught to you in a way that makes it at all interesting or useful.
Because all of these questions are of standard curriculum that 5th graders (and younger) are taught. Back when I was watching this show I still remembered some of these answers from my elementary years.
Smarter than a fifth grader? Yeah, your not so average smart fifth grader that is.
animefreak884 you're*
therecordplayer lostthecassette that's the wrong you're idiot he had it right
The Strike no I'm right he put your not so Savage , you're Is the plural form of you are ,get educated
Supreme Canelo uhh no dumbass you're is the correct spelling.
therecordplayer lostthecassette youre wrong he didnt mean to say you are. He meant "your average fifth grader" as in "your dog" or "your book".
I sure didn't learn any of this in elementary school.
i wish i had this question for a million dollars. I live there!! it's my backyard!
Woa
What the hell kind of curriculum do they teach 5th Graders in America? A lot of the questions are about trivia.
Absolutely. Rockerfeller dumbed it down.
You'd be surprise
These questions do not fit in standards in the 5th grade. As a curriculum director of the United States, and have my professional degree in education. These questions are to advanced for any student in the elementary
@Mark Armendariz *too
@Mark Armendariz You’re a curriculum director but do not know simple grammar hmmm
When I saw this on television, I shot up to my feet and said, "YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME." I live in a city that's 30-45 minutes away from Acadia National Park and when I was a kid in the YMCA summer day camp, we'd go there almost every week to places like Cadillac Mountain, Thunder Hole, Sand Beach, and Echo Lake. BTW, beautiful park too. You guys should check it out sometime!
I went there in August, it was breathtaking!
3:38-The 11 most sweet words I’ve ever heard of here.
MAINE. YAYYY I've been to Acadia it is very beautiful, especially the Bar Harbor area!!!
I went to Bar Harbor in August! It was one of the most beautiful places I could ever imagine!
im yelling at my computer because I live in maine and I know this
Sadly, I don't think you were talking about grammar.
Should be *which* U.S. state
+Blurb Jeff, I'll take 3rd Grade Grammar.
I don’t remember learning half of the questions they asked when I was in fifth grade.
I'm Canadian (technically Acadian), so I don't know much about American history. However, I do know that the Acadians were kicked out of France by the British and sent to Louisiana (and a few other places, but Louisiana is the only place in America that I can recall them being located in, every other place I know of is a Canadian province). So I'm actually kind of surprised it was Maine. I really expected it to be Louisiana because that's where some Acadians went. I guess you learn something new every day, eh?
I'm from Louisiana and thought it was that!!!
Joel Watson Glad I'm not the only one!
Acadia, as an area, covered northern Maine and New Brunswick. The Acadians were kicked out of that area by the British when they conquered Canada.
That makes no sense
benignuman
Mostly Nova Scotia but they also grabbed a few from NB too.
Years later, they grabbed Quebec but left the French there.
Probably figured they weren't worth moving.
:)
One of the easiest Million Dollar Questions I have ever seen in game show history. This moment would have been more notable if he was given a much harder question for the million.
I couldn’t answer this question if you held a gun to my head 😂
@@TWolfyG Acadia National Park is in Maine. Maine borders the Canadian provinces of Quebec and New Brunswick. The area known as Acadia (or “l’Acadie” in French) was part of the colony of New France and it encompassed much of what is now the region of Gaspésie in Quebec, as well as the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, as well as the U.S. state of Maine. So it makes obvious sense that the answer is Maine.
@@harambe4717 no shit??? Never woulda known after learning that in this video 😂😂😂
@@TWolfyG Don’t let my username fool you, but I am from Quebec so this was common knowledge to me since I learned this in my history classes. :)
this is one of those 'you know it or you don't' questions. cause I couldn't tell you where Arcadia park was. I find the question of 'how far is the Earth to the sun' Million dollar question on WWTBAM much easier. also your from Quebec, so of course you would know it. most people don't know where national parks are.
He was my professor at Cal. Nice job Dr. Smoot
it surprised me this is only the SECOND person to win $1,000,000 dollars.
The third and last season of this show on Fox was bookended by two Million Dollar Wins! But it went into syndication 3 days later, so the fun continued! If this show was introduced in the 1980's-early 1990's, Geoff Edwards would have been the perfect host for it; it's the best game show involving adults and children since CHILD'S PLAY, Bill Cullen's personal favorite game show!
2:37 YOU MADE IT AGAIN YOU GOT IT MILLION DOLLAR WINNER!
I knew this immediately and it totally had nothing to do with me living in Maine for 22 years lol.
I can tell by his dance he has an extensive Star Wars collection and arranges all of his dvds in alphabetical order.
Ogag Caloy Alde 3rd P1,000,000 Winner 2010
I replayed that SO many times.
Oh my gosh...that dance at the end when he won!! I can't breathe! I laughed so hard that I fell off my dinosaur! Just kidding, I'm a loner sitting on my bed watching UA-cam videos without any friends..And I didn't even laugh that hard. I just laughed for like 5 seconds, but tun quit and decided to type this long comment which once you get to the end it'll mean nothing...
Then*
Man... thats...that's deep.
I get your Stepbrothers reference. Lmao
Hi!
Why in the title would they say 2nd million dollar winner it ruins it
I believe the Acadia National Park is located in the state of Maine.
I live in Mass. and have camped at Acadia in Maine many times. Such a beautiful park.
I remember the U.K. version where it was called are you smarter than a 10 year old.
LMFAO i love the jump circle of celebration he has going there.
he obviously IS smarter than a fifth grader
Everytime I watch videos like these, I get a tingling feeling.
George, you hit the jackpot with $1,000,000.
I saw this one. He's a nobel prize winner
The host mentioned it
By the way, this was the primetime series finale.
What a way for the prime time version to go out, with a million dollar bang.
Was there ever a 3rd Million Dollar Winner on that programme.
Nope, 4 people who dropped out would've had it but they are wusses. A few people had went for it but have been close
Oh.
This is what happens when you let a guy this talented on the show. They thought it'd be wicked if they proved a nobel-prize winning scientist was not smarter than a 5th grader but they got powned.
Truth is kids gets taught basic, pointless stuff that fades away with years of learning more practical stuff. That's why people don't always know the answers. The details didn't come in handy later in life so they were forgotten. Besides these kids are probably coached in particular.
That dance when he won though
Is there a possibility I could see the whole episode?
Amazon prime
How many or what percentage of 5th graders actually know this?
Daulton Baird Safely about 65%.
Death Reaper
no , its 35%
jack jackson Oh, they're actually a lot stupider than I remembered.
Death Reaper
i was jking
i just came up with a random percentage xd
Death Reaper stupid for not knowing a random national park in the US.. yes, very dumb
He is the one who gave big bang theory!!🙏🙏🙏
I knew this because of my knowledge of the QMJHL. There is a team in New Brunswick called the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. (Acadie being French for "Acadia" helped there.) There used to be a team in Lewiston, Maine. It seemed to fit.
I knew that and I am a 5th grader thousands of miles away from Acadia.
Now I would call that millionaire in the classroom.
Where’s the confetti?
Woah, he's the one who came up with the Big Bang Theory?!
2:32 You made history one time with the big bang theory but tonight….
YOU MADE IT AGAIN! YOU GOT A MILLION DOLLARS!!!!!
"HE WON A MILLION BUCKS! UNBELIEVABLE!"
Was this Celebrity Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?
It helps if you live in New England and/or have been to Maine. I haven't made it to Acadia yet but people have told me it is really nice.
Lolz 😂 two OLD MEN with all the kids dancing n celebrating winning 1M 😂 time to buy CANDY 🍭 FOR ALL THE KIDS!!! Yeah baby
HIS DANCE LOL
@bobdolelostbad the million dollar queston is an 11th grade queston. But I think they should have called it " are you smarter than a 11th grader" not 5th. never got that.
OMG noble
Peace prize . No wonder he won. He
Deserves every penny of it
"I.M GEORGE SMOOT & I AM SMARTER THEN A FIFTH GRADER!"--OUR SECOND $1,000,000 WINNER & A NEW CAR 🚗!!
I saw that show, and I'm happy to see the winner moment!!!!
why is he so happy hes a multimillionare he doesnt need that
I'm Canadian and I got this right... but because Acadia was parts of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, it would only make sense it would be Maine.
Yep, but he didn't have google.
I live in Maine and I can't believe this is the million dollar question because it's SO easy, lol.
Since you live there, they would ask you something different like, "Where are the Rincon Mountains located?" That's a place I KNOW.
I believe Tiff was kidding.
*****
You sound upset. Little bitch crying over a UA-cam comment. lol
*****
I Fail to see the irony. You got pissed off over a harmless UA-cam comment. I was just pointing out what a bitch that made you, and you came crying back like a bitch for a 2nd time.
Tiffmidon I live on the West Coast, and I knew the answer on the first go.
Been to Acadia, gorgeous area.
My guess for that particular State would have been 1 of the following 3.
1: Maine
2: California
3: North Dakota
2:32 And the correct answer is…
2:37 YES!!!
well done mr nobel prize winner, u r smarter than a 5th grader but that doesnt make you smarter than a 6th grader, u got to remember that
I been to Acadia it's a BEAUTIFUL PLACE
Noble prize winning professors is smarter than fifth grader!
No joke! This is who he is.
because the original name was
"Are you smarter than a fifth grader that will be valedictorian at Harvard"
they cut down the title to
"Are you smarter than a fifth grader that will be valedictorian"
but it was still a bit too long so it went to
"Are you smarter than a fifth grader"
I don't question his achievements, they're something I could never even dream of. But, isn't it a bit sad and pathetic for a Nobel Prize Winner to go to a 5th Grade Question Contest?
he enjoyed hugging those kids
Canada tried their hand at doing this show too, but it was only a limited run of five episodes. It was hosted by Colin Mochrie, best known for "Whose Line is it Anyway?". The best that somebody did in these episodes was winning CAD$300,000, which was two questions away from the million. Apparently there's a French language version that's still airing mainly for people in Quebec, but the top prize there is CAD$250,000.
crazy
He was on TBBT?!?!?!?
I'm in 8th grade and as soon as they said Acadia I remembered that is another name for the area around Maine so I immediately through Maine.
117?? when was halo and games show put together
@gamemaster5353
Good at geography? What inhabited city in the world has had the coldest temperature to be recorded?
He won one million dollars
Huzzah! I actually got the answer right! And I guessed it before the guy said it was Maine or California. I'm Canadian, and I don't know too much about U.S. Geography, but I once did a research paper about the Acadian Expulsion from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. So I gussed Maine because I was pretty sure it bordered on New Brunswick.
he doesn't need a million dollars with a nobel prize
At first I could have thought of Colorado or Illinois but later I realised maine
Opens mouth, spins, and says "hey..."
1 out of 11 questions. Oh my god so amazing.
He won the million dollars on Are You Smarter than A 5th Grader?, He won the Noble Prize, Huh?
Yes, brainless simpleton
i am not surprised that this guy won a million dollars. i mean after all he won the noble peace prize or the Pulitzer prize i cant remember which one
Does anyone know where I could find the full episode for this?
Pluto tv
I always saw this on Fox it on every Sunday on GSN
If I had that question on a test in grade 5... wow, that's not 5th grade at all...
He was probably thinking of Arcadia, CA
lol I knew Acadia was Nova Scotia, is it in Maine too?
it's the general region of Maine and New Brunswick. Some of it is in Nova Scotia
Canadian maritimes Maine and some of eastern quebec was apart of Acadia.
Both people that won the million on this show seemed to have easy questions. I knew Queen Victoria was the longest reigning British monarch and that Acadia National Park is located in Maine. I wish I could have tried out for this show. Oh well....
they seem easy at first, but when under pressure like that, your mind will literally blank out and fuck you over.
Knew the Queen Victoria one, didn't know the National Park one. But that's US Geography, and that isn't taught in Australia XD.
Well the name of the show is "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader"
Besides, it all comes down to whether you know it or don't in the end. Some things you know or remember, and some things you don't.
Okay, I agree that most 5th graders won't know many of these questions, but you don't have to be a harvard graduate...
Imagine asking a guy whose study on black body form and cosmic microwave radiation cemented the way we think about the origin of the universe a question like "Where is this park with a bunch of trees and shit?" for a million bucks LOL
I'm from the correct state, and when I heard this question, I was like, "OH, MAN, I COULD'VE WON THIS!!!" XD
I'd guessed Maine first because, "Acadia" just sounds like a Maine name XD
+Thymeleaves I guessed Maine because I'm English and I just went for the most obscure state I could think of.
lol Maine is not obscure at all. More like North or South Dakota.
I guessed Alsaska lol I was off
