Wow, this brings back very happy memories of my youth. I passed my driving test in Kidderminster a year after this film. The cars, streets and volume of traffic were far better times. Maybe I'm just an 80's dinosaur but the music, fashion, CB radios ( no mobiles back then ) having to use road maps to find places I sorely miss. I moved away from the area many many years ago so this film gave me a huge smile......thanks!
I lived opposite brintons Park, my dad was an ice cream man called Henry. Love watching this video, thank you for doing this. Its amazing and very emotional
Hi Darren ... thanks for your comment. I'm so glad you like the video.... and so pleased I shot the video and kept it for all these years. Have you seen this video.... 24th December 1980 ? ua-cam.com/video/wlRbfCxkhmw/v-deo.html regards Paul
Nice to see that our roads were just as car-centric then as they are now :-/. Interesting video though, I tried a rear facing camera once but it was too faffy to bother with again.
Places like this are on my Family Tree..That sounds odd but it is True. My Maternal Grandfather was from Great Britain, I was born in Ontario Canada. My Grandpa was a Kittermaster, but we got the Family Tree done going back to the 10th and 11th Centuries.. We knew he had some Sir's, a Knight or two and Lords etc , but he was just a Lawyer. His father was obviously also Kittermaster one of the Albert Reuben one's (The Family tended to keep reusing old family names going back a very long time.) Just telling this in case anyone reads who is interested in lineage going back to Castles, Royal Halls etc. When myself and 4 cousins pass away there will be no further live descendants in all of Canada left who had a parent directly out of a Kittermaster..My mom and her two Sister's were the last remaining people directly out of a Kittermaster, in all of Canada. We do still have Relatives that left Britain and emigrated to USA. The other side of my Grandfather's family were Dudley's and Owen's... The Dudley's have a Hall over in Britain, but I have not yet seen the Dudley Hall and I think there may be Castle Ruins over there somewhere. I have been over several times but have not yet gone to see the Dudley Places. It is interesting..but LOL, believe me..you don't feel like the Elite, we are just normal folks who happen to have ancestor's who somehow became Titled.. On the Family Tree it is interesting to see the varying spellings of the name down through History. I loved seeing the old Castles.. and I absolutely LOVE Wales. My Maternal Grandma lived many years in LLangollen Wales. Beautiful Town. My Father was born in Motherwell Scotland and was the son of a Dirt Poor Coal Miner who died when my father was 4 years old..His mom was a House Cleaner for the Wealthy..Definitely No Castles LOL on their side. Best Wishes Kathleen
Hi Kathleen... For some reason I have only just read your message. Thank you so much for taking the time to write such an interesting story. Very kind regards Paul
Is that a bench at exactly 4:31 on the right hand side? If so, then it's stood the test of time for sure! I was born in 1993 so this footage is amazing for me. Less has changed than I expected to be honest! Thank you for uploading it.
Hi... yes ... I'm pretty sure it is.... well spotted !! Love your name by the way.... Boudica Exemplum !! here is a video from 1980 !! two years earlier. ua-cam.com/video/wlRbfCxkhmw/v-deo.html regards Paul
David... Thanks for your comments... I would be happy for you to use it in a music video... as long as I get to see the finished production.! Cheers Paul

Fantastic Video and so relevant to me. I was born April 1982 and lived my first 6 years in Kiddie! Very fond memories 😊
Thank you. Where do you live now ? Regards Paul
@@PaulDonovan I’m in Cheshire now, still have family in Worcester and Stourbridge though so I get down that way every now and then. Thanks again!
That was a trip down memory lane!
Thanks for sharing.
No problem... glad you liked it. Cheers Paul

Brilliant video, hardly any cars about.... Comberton Arms still standing, all the shops on Station Hill, those were the days......
Ghost Town, beautiful.
From the moment I saw that orange Honda Z and the R12 I just knew this video was going to be superb!
The Z600 was a great little car.
Shame you didn't go all the way down Coronation Way...... would have loved to see what car we had parked outside back then!
Sorry 😎 regards Paul
Very interesting. Would be cool to film it again today and run side by side
That's a great idea. Cheers Paul
Thanks for filming it! its pretty much the only footage of Kiddy in the eighties
Hi.... thanks for your comment. Here's a video filmed through the front window. Cheers Paul ua-cam.com/video/wlRbfCxkhmw/v-deo.html

What was the MAXIMUM speed limit in those areas in Kidderminster? 30 mph is the MAXIMUM in a built up area. Were you ever exceeding these? hmmm..
I'm actually so amazed that back then this was recorded. Did they even have cameras 😅
lol.... yes they and I did !! Regards Paul
This is good, Paul. I was 9. Where has the time gone?
No idea.... It's crazy... 😎

Omg Britons park at 1:31 lol like if u ever been there I have
Both times you went through Castle Rd, I was hoping you'd turn right/left into Park Lane. I wanted to see my house. lol 😀
Sorry....... 😯
memorys i was about 11 years of age reconise everything shame you never went up rifle range
👍
Probably because it was a war zone then 🤣
Very nice video, amazing how dated those cars look now.
And no speed humps or speed cameras back then either!
So that alone shows you something went very WRONG with drivers in general! Great news though the future is SLOW 30 mph WILL become 25 MAXIMUM. 🥳
Such a great video! very calming. Would it be ok if I used this for a music video? I completely understand if not. Thanks in advance!
David... Thanks for your comments... I would be happy for you to use it in a music video... as long as I get to see the finished production.! Cheers Paul
+Paul Donovan of course! Thank you so much!
