This was a really cool real-life example of all the things you talk about! Thank you so much to you, the captain, and Cargolux!
Hong kong airport looks waaaaay too much like Heathrow
All (modern) airports looks similar in its layout :)
@@Spazik86 Yes, they do look similar, but usually with more than two runways on either side of the terminal building
But much smaller
@@115Carssssssssss Heathrow 1227 hectares, Hong Kong 1255 hectares
well it's built by the British
Very Cool, this is the first video about following taxiways I have seen. I have always wondered how taxing worked. Thank You
Very carefully that’s how!
It's always enjoyable to approach Guangzhou Baiyun. Hong Kong and Shenzhen to the right, Macau and Zhuhai to the left. You can always see airports making turns in the tight space

@@MrSpiritmonger I appreciate that you have discovered POPO's violence... ABS. AGREE!
@@kelvinchan2286 I'm an HK-US citizen, you don't know true police violence unless you come to US. HK police are sissy compared to US cops, who just shoot and ask questions later.
I used to work in ATC there in the Tower, and was part of the team that opened the place. It was all done on simulators as the airport was a green field site. All the Kai Tak guys came across for their conversion courses over a 6 month period.Initially opened on single runway which was way more interesting than 2 runways. The push back procedures are quite complex and often result in several stands having the same push back points.Often delays can happen as Ground does not have the concrete to accommodate several push backs from adjacent stands. We used to land freighters on the South runway, but I guess it's getting busier now,so easier to cross at the far end.Ground South 122.55 can be a pain as you can't see the arrivals from ADC north until they are at V or W coming up to H.I used to set up the arrivals off the ATM that were coming my way.The visibility out the Tower is dreadful, and they should knock it down and put a proper one up instead.
hi John. Fond memories. hawkeye

All the best , make your family and friends proud 🙌
go sell some shoes kid
I probably wouldn’t have posted that with your username being killer. 😆😆 but best of luck. Pilots are highly respected in my eyes. They have many lives in their hands while up in the clouds and every successful take off/landing is a job well done.
I'm sure alot of guys here are pilots , I am an ordinary farmer but love your show and the way you explain things
I was having trouble taxing my Lufthansa 747 in Hong Kong so thanks for the video 😂!
It is nice to see someone share a taxi video of an AirPort that is very complex
Hello from Hong Kong
Didn’t see ya there
It is really interesting to see a actual video on what pilots do. I hope see more of this specially those rare cases.
I’m so mad at myself I was like n Hong Kong airport staying overnight and man I was on my Flightradar24, I saw Cargolux 5185 and I didn’t even knew that that was you in it I thought you fly Atlas air. NVM 😭😭
👏
Another pilot-youtuber 74gear flies for Atlas air, did you mistaken Joe with him? Haha
@@蔡孟衡-n7q I never knew that 74 gear flies for them, 如果你会说中文,谢谢 :-)

蔡孟衡 oh I think so 😂
loved the video, learned something new. I'm 36 and still hope to become a pilot one day and the 747-800 is my dream aircraft to fly.
Thank you and Captain Jörg for sharing this
ehsan83 Never give up on your dreams! Flight training can take just 3-5 years if you are dedicated in getting your licenses. Good luck to you!
abbysnowmist thanks appreciate it 👍🏻 I wish you the same
ehsan83 You‘re welcome!

Stop bringing political view points in this video.
More likely from Cathay Pacific employees that empty the oxygen supply of their own planes
Lucky you that got Lantau Island Chek Lap Kok airport, my father travel for work, when he was young in his 30s, the planes still landed in Hong Kong Island, at the old Kai Tack “the one with the checkerboard on the hill”, the pilots needed a specific qualification to land there, because the descent was in the middle of narrow buildings, some pilots asked to divert to a different airport, and so he has to take a regional flight to arrive to Hong Kong. But the new one in Lantau is way less freaky and easy, I travel for work like my dad.
Free Hong Kong, revolution of our times
love the handshake at the end of the video!
Be careful in Hong Kong.

Like at every other airport. Just avoid the protesters
Excellent, have listened to Kennedy Steve. Now I have a better understanding of all the communications. Thanks a lot. And thanks to your pilot and company for allowing us to see this.
