I love canyonning. I used to do it regularly with a great bunch of friends in the Blue Mountains. The wetter the better, and if it involves some abseiling, even better. A short (2-3 hour) classic canyon and abseiling is the Empress Falls at the Blue Mountains. And one of my favourite day long wet canyon is the Tiger Snake Canyon, again at the Blue Mountains. But there are too many to mention.

You should bring a LifeStraw with you when hiking. That way if you need more drinking water, and there's a creek or river, you can use the LifeStraw to drink from it. It's like having a fire extinguisher or PLB, you hope to never use it, but if you need it, you have it. I always keep one on my hiking backpack and one in my 4WD.

Can be done however there is a reasonable level of fitness I would totally recommend. Your legs get a workout and it is quite challenging over several hours of "red triangle'' markers with some intense rock climbing up and over and down over several klms. Best time to do it is early morning before it gets too hot. Once at the top, it's quite narrow a gap for when the sun shines through. Plenty of water is a must. The half way water pool you need to wade through is ok but if you're shorter (like me - 5'4) trying to carry your backpack may be a tad tricky but there's usually a few folk around to help. Once through, there is a rock/wall face to navigate as well. My rels are locals and I went up with my niece and a few of her friends and thought I'd be fine. I wasn't prepared for the workout and tried to keep up with them, and on the return back down my legs began to "shake". It is well worth doing it but if you're my age (55+) it'd benefit if you did some good walking tracks a few weeks prior to get the legs up to scratch!

The reason Zebedee is open until late morning (then closes) is because it is then vacated for the Cliff Retreat (from @ $3k per night) guests who pay megabucks to stay in the top accommodation out there. Their cost includes private use of these springs.

Most people don't realise that most of the time they are dehydrated. Most people are dehydrated most of the time and don't know it.
You've learned a lesson with this episode.
    1) Carry water in more than one container in case of breakage and losing all your water.
    2) Don't carry breakable bottles. A camel back and a 2 litre military collapsible are something I'd recommend. Even a 1 litre army canteen.
    3) Carry more water than you think you'll need. You can't predict the future and you can't see unforeseen problems along the path.
All it takes is a series of small occurrences and you're up the proverbial creek. You lend a dehydrated walker some of your water to be kind and then you drop the bottle and it breaks, then you get an eye injury which needs flushing and you can't see so you trip over and break your ankle. And the sun is getting higher and no one knows where you are. It's off season and there's no tourists about. No mobile service. And you're not really sure where you are. Your eye injury has made you blind in that eye and your headache is off the scale.
You can see where this is going..... All because the last few days you didn't recognise the signs of classic dehydration. If only you drank more water each day.
Now you're trying to fight the flies and tropical infection as you struggle for shade. It's getting hotter and hotter so you send you betroved for help. Except they have no water and in all the excitement you're disoriented because a dry brain can't think straight so they walk off in the wrong direction.....never to be seen again...... Now the coroner has 2 people on the books....
    A) Avoid being a statistic.
    B) Do an Advanced First Aid and Remote First Aid course with St John's Ambulance - Every year.
    C) Drink and carry more water.
    Happy days :-)

    Hi guys,
we think you guys are doing fine when we see this.
For our understanding, what do you mean by a cold day, not swimming?
    20 degrees or more?
    Unfortunately, our plans have changed.
We are now going to Sweden on 01 September for 3 weeks. That will be a bit colder!
Thick sweaters, jackets, rain gear is already stowed.
The diesel stationary heater we have tested, works.
    Hope there also.
We will report, until then a good time, no breakdowns with the Toyota.
Let's see if the Landy holds out, I pray!
    Best regards from Germany.

@@itsJackandMegan A few years ago in Denmark.
In the morning at 6.00 am I was arranged with the last Danish Viking to swim, Baltic Sea.
Was a bet, who goes swimming at this tempertur in the sea.
Air temperature about 13 ° C, guess who did not come!
My wife has my swim in the Baltic Sea photographed of course, so I win the bet.
Was cold as hell, everything shrunk.
We'll get back to you after the trip, we're not taking a LapTop, otherwise I might have to work.
My Korean colleagues don't really know the word vacation.
On 01.09. at 4.00 am we start.
Hope that we still have a little luck with the weather.
Will be a cool summer vacation.
