Love the underground series and the far away look on the subjects faces. I think you’ve captured a bit of humanity in what’s normally very hectic urban mass transit travel.
Thanks so much mate! I appreciate it
Paul. I am so excited. My Q2 Monochrom arrives tomorrow! It's you who inspired me to take the plunge. Now to come up with a suitable project ...
Amazing!!! You will have so much fun with it!!
I think this is exactly what I need, a new project. Thanks.
Excellent!!! Have fun with it
Just subscribed no way would I pay that money for a camera but one of the reasons I listen to your channel is I absolutely love your voice as well as your photography
Thanks so much for subscribing
Hello from France! Love your entire channel Paul! I always learn things in your videos. And your delivery is very good too, with a calm voice and a lovely Northern accent
Great Video Paul, like your pictures since I found you here. I live part time in London and love the city by their unlimited opportunities to take photos. Would love to see a project about people in pubs as there are many in London with an amazing atmosphere. Thank you for sharing your work with us.
As a novice photographer, I really appreciate the explanation behind the thought process and the rationale for following a 'Project plan'... there's a simplicity that seems to just require an idea, focus and commitment.. I'm starting this process right now.
Excellent
Thanks so much Paul, for posting this. You're so inspiring and honest about how the tube made you feel. Videos like these prompted me to go for the Q2M also, and have not regretted it for a second. Started my own long term project shooting lorry drivers that frequent my street, as their faces tend to have so much character, plus they're so at ease around their moveable habitat.
The photos are good. Please can you mention your camera settings along with the picture. It will be useful to understand
I have an ongoing photo project, but I can only do it for half the year - it's to the capture the unique beauty of winter. Where I live, it's winter for half the year, and temperatures can sometimes dip as low as -30. The goal is to demonstrate that something beautiful can be found even in the most inhospitable of environmental conditions. You've inspired to find another project to do for the other half of the year!
That sounds like a fantastic project
I’ve been doing a fun project called “Alleys” where I walk up one alley and see what I can find. It’s been a great exercise in seeing rather than looking, and just gets me outside. Nice video, keep it up!
That's a great idea!
Thank you for the video , i too like B&W photography , my next project (after fasting month - Ramdhan ) will be abradant Places , all over my country ( Oman ) --- i have done Mosques on Oman, Lights of Muscat , Forts of Oman
Excellent!!!! That sounds great fun
Beautiful Oman, you’re so lucky, I wish I could visit and photograph again 😊
Fantastic shots and a great project! I remember seeing the first few shots you posted on Instagram and thinking those shots of eyes would be a great series. I had not at the time realized that was your intention from the start. The eyes are truly the doorways to the soul!
Thanks so much. I really appreciate that. I will be continuing that project and posting more soon
Thanks for the update and sharing your project. Great idea and really nice images
Thanks Kevin, I really appreciate it
I’m always here for the photography and your stories but that jacket!!! That jacket is so badass!!
Ha haaa! Thanks Josh! The things never off my back!
I am thinking about buying a leica Q, which has how I found this channel. I am overwhelmed by your aching beautiful work. I didn't know there were people who still aspired to your remarkable degree of the craft. Thank you from a new subscriber.
Thanks so much. The Leica Q can be used to create just as beautiful images as a Q2, Q2M or I’m sure the upcoming Q3. Thanks for subscribing and thanks for your kind comments
Super inspiring talk
Thanks very much
Love the bnw depth of your photos
Another great video Paul .I'm always particularly interested in hearing how other photographers get the shot; ie whether they use zone focussing etc.
I'm also a Q2Mono shooter, and I spend lots of time in London(I've lived here my whole life) shooting street scenes and whatever else catches my eye. Maybe we'll bump into each other in the big smoke some day :) Keep up the good work !
Great video! just saw your channel on here yesterday and I can't stop watching your content. Thank you so much
Some great images - stunning quality
Thanks very much for watching
Lol. The project at the end... people reading the Tube map 👌
Thanks so much for watching the videos
Say a bit more about what you are looking for in terms of “story” or people when shooting either a project or general street photography. Thanks Paul. You’re inspiring! Geoff
Thanks so much for watching and your comment
That was great. I am privileged to have the Q2 Monochrom and like the idea of a project to get me focussed. Speaking of which, I am intrigued by your zone focussing idea and will try that out too.
Thanks so much
Hi Paul , just found your channel and enjoyed the last video. I’m now a subscriber!
Fantastic!!! Thanks for watching!!
Great photography - makes me want a trip to London!
Thanks mate!!!
100% agree about the project idea, I print as I go too and I use visual diaries . But need to find more smaller projects. I'm strictly black and white too, subscribed
Thanks so much
Hi Paul, again a good video from you what triggers me this time especially. I bought a Leica Q 3 months ago. Two weeks ago I was able to try it out for the first time in Qatar. The street photos were almost all good, but for landscape and architecture I probably didn't use it properly.
I find the idea with a photo project super, however, I live in a rural area and I always have the feeling that the environment offers no photo motifs. In London or generally abroad it seems to be a little "easier". But probably you would find suitable motifs even here in the boring area. Any ideas are more than welcome😉. Keep up your good work!
Thanks so much for watching. I intend to do a video about finding things to photograph when you just can’t see anything worth capturing.
I did ( sort of ) start a little project about a year ago... Simple stuff.... just some black and white of town squares of small communities here in middle Tennessee. Sad to say... I haven't made much progress. It may never get very far at all. I find it questionable to bother with the drive because I keep thinking" what's the point" ... no one ever sees my photography. Not even my sons.
The point is whatever you make it! If it gives you pleasure then that is the point
I actually just started one, as I just got my Q2M, doing a year long project with Monthly themes, resulting in a book and Monthly video’s.
Excellent!! Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much for your remarkable and useful videos and contents. So inspiring. May I ask about the camera setting you used while taking portrait shots inside the metro? Shutter speed, iso, aperture, metering? I understand you used zone focusing.
Could you possibly do a video on your mentorship’s? What’s included, your approach, any details like that.
I have been really thinking a lot about a photography project to start. There are a lot of ideas but nothing resonates with me deeply. I do complete a end of year book each year of my best memories and photos but want something else
Hi Josh, I try not to go on too much about the mentorship’s and workshops with it being advertising for me. However I will see what I can put together.
Just stumbled across your channel. Love your work! Were you using the lcd and zone focusing for the street photography images? How do you get so close without your subjects noticing the camera?
Mostly zine focus and screen for the street stuff
the dog on the beach - loved but now i'm sad
Awww! I know!
Great suggestion, Paul. I’ve read about the importance of projects, and you underscore it here. By the way, are all the portraits you shared here shot with your Q2M? And do you record your videos with the Q2M? Thanks for the inspiring work!
Hi John, thanks for watching. I do shoot 99% of everything on the Q2M and all the portraits were Q2M
@@paulreidphotography Thanks so much Paul. I'm impressed with the separation you get on a 28mm lens when you get fairly close, and then when yo step back you can capture so much detail. The Q2 and Q2M are quite remarkable. Cheers!
…..in response to your question, I’d be interested to see you doing your editing
Great! I will see if I can do something like that.
@@paulreidphotography Would love to see that too, not the workflow part, but what decision you make on the post-edits.
HOME in mate, HOME in... Not HONE in.
Is that right? Ha haaaaaa! Who taught me English!!
I mean I’ve googled it and apparently both are acceptable in the English language
@@paulreidphotography no mate, but ok...
