You cannot begin to imagine what it was like to be 8 years old in the 90s and playing this game having no exposure to Japanese culture, especially the Impact scene. Mind blown.
I love this song. Absolutely love it. It's everything to like in typical Super Robot stuff, but it's silly. Abjectly, irreverently, and unashamedly silly. It's simultaneously a parody and a love letter to everything Super Robot. Mizuki-san, you will be missed.
Upon listening to this as an adult, I realize how lucky I was to experience this game as a kid growing up. When I think about it, it's probably my top N64 game aside Ocarina of Time.

I can't overstate what a huge deal it is to have Ichiro Mizuki on vocals for this. Just mind blowing performance, he is literal perfection for this type of theme.
It's even more surprising that these songs were left in the English versions in the first place, it probably has to do with the fact that Nintendo didn't have an "everything including dialogue must be in English" policy like Sony did.
Play the game and you will see english lyrics with japanese voices because this game was awesome enough not to waste money on shitty dub. They decided to keep original Japanese voices and just translate text. That is how every game should do

Lol, when I resently played metal gear 4 and there was boss fight with metal gear rex and this game came up in my mind, little bit like deja vu. I really miss this game, I still have n64, but the joystick is very worn off and n64 controller in general is kinda, non-ergonomic to say least. I hope some day this game will appear in nintendo store or even better there will be pc port of this classic.

This brings back so many nastalgic memories!
This and the intro song were like my gateway drugs into mecha and the musical talent of Ichiro Mizuki + Hironobu Kageyama. Found it hilarious when I first made the connection while watching Getter Robo Armageddon, which features both of them each doing an opening song for that show.
