  • I did a video to show how I CG my planes, also a little trick to stop the tail rudder from ever coming off in flight. Hope this helps someone, and if there is somthing wrong with what Im recommending, please point it out. Thanks to all viewers, and special thanks to subscribers!!! Correction to the video, You need to measure from the root of the wing, not the wing tip, sorry I missed that!! The second dot is the correct CG spot!! Thank you ru wingout for pointing that out : )

      Just received my E-flite Extra 300 and like your techniques for CG and tail pin. Will be putting 3.25" mains and 1.5 tail wheel on mine - kind of bush plane looking for my long grass runway (front pasture). It's all good - I'm new to YT (old person) and not up to speed on the posting/commenting process.

      The instruction book that comes with this plane says to use a 4s 3300 that weights about 13oz.. so I bought one of the exact batteries. but I'm having trouble and worried where the proper CG is, and I haven't found a video with anyone using the exact recommended 13oz battery.. the 2200 venom youre using is only abt 7oz... which is why you have to push it all the way back? so my question is... since I have the exact/recommended battery should the CG be perfect without adding or reducing weight?

    • @BALAZSER1
      @BALAZSER1  5 років тому

      Steve Short My manual recommend the 2200 mah battery, wtf is up with that lol!!! But, in any case, if the battery you are using has no space to move forward or back to adjust the center of gravity, the only thing you can do is add weight to get it the way you want it😕. I like the smaller battery anyway, because you can have more fun with less weight!! 🙂🙃🙂. To answer your question though, yes it should be perfect using the recommended battery, but rarely ever is, and really hard to figure out, when you have two people with the same plane, with two different recommend batteries lol!!!

      BALAZSER1 you should probably remove this video and post up one with proper info. Many people don’t read comments and your method leaves the plane very tail heavy.
      Not that someone who doesn’t know how to balance a plane should be flying it anyways.

  • @waynemiller6070

    I'm glad you didn't take down the video. Some airplanes want you to measure the CG at the tip. This is a good method for doing just that. Thanks

  • @waynemiller6070
    @waynemiller6070 11 місяців тому

    This is so funny. I thought I measured my CG wrong because I did measure from the root and not the tip. The reason it's funny, is because I had my battery was all the way forward and it still seemed like it needed nose weight. But my friend has the same plane and I saw him put his battery in and he put it back in the compartment. So I tried it, and my plane flies a lot better with the battery back.

  • @MPRasta104
    @MPRasta104 5 місяців тому

    Nice info! For your rudder, you can also use some tape or vinyl. Doing this will not only be second security, it will also seal the hinge to lessen drag by preventing air from going thru.

  • @marcphillips6069

    The CG is a fixed point on the aircraft regardless of the battery used. You move the battery to obtain the correct CG. You need to take this off of utube.

    • @barra650
      @barra650 4 роки тому +1

      That's right . you move the weight around , not the CoG . Especially in these small extra type aircraft .

    • @OhMySack
      @OhMySack 4 роки тому +3

      Couldn't agree more. Massive misinformation here. CoG is NOT an arbitrary location based on a battery. It's a fixed point generally based on about the first 1/3 of wing chord.

    The measurement of the CG is to be taken at the leading edge from the Root of the wing that is where the wing meets the fuselage. the wings swing back slightly gong out to the tips causing your 1st mark to be wrong. but your second mark looks to be in the correct place..

    A quality BNF or PNP model will fly ok straight out of the box without any balance measuring. Any C of G fine tuning needs to be done by flying it, not with tape and string. BTW,,,,,,,,I do have one of these models. It flies amazing. I have many BNF and PNP models. None of them were ever checked for balance before the test flight. All were within flyable limits and all were fine tuned for C of G by the way that they flew.

    You may want to re-read the manual, because your measuring the CG completely wrong. The CG range is measured from the wing leading edge at the root against the fuselage. Of course your CG is way off you are inches behind the CG range and you are outside of the stability margin. Always balance to the measurement never change the measurement to where it wants to balance.

  • @jalbert222
    @jalbert222 4 роки тому +1

    Not to be repetitive, but the manual says wing ROOT! So, even though you seem like smart guy and experienced, have to discount what you've said. I'll measure mine at root, not tip.

      @@BALAZSER1 Hi. Put the plane together and went out two days ago for the maiden. I am an intermediate pilot with 25 years experience. Finally the the plane tweaked. The plane is well made, but terribly documented and some bad engineering. None of the servos, at their recommend 'last hole' of the servo arm, will center properly when flying. And the 45 and 50mm low rate travels are ridiculous! And the CG, with the right battery even fully forward, required 3 ounces weight in the nose. Flies well, but..........not impressed with engineering.
